Chapter 8 - A Fight Between Shadows

Edin rolls her eyes and begins to eat. Immediately she senses a warmth as if she were eating her own mother's cooking, sending a tear down her cheek as she remembers her losses. Anarchy sees this and wipes her tears away, grabbing a small piece of cloth and giving it to her.

"This is amazing. Thank you for this meal." She says, taking another bite.

Anarchy leans forward, his chest laying on his knees. "Ah, it's no problem really. I happen to like cooking. And besides, I was taught at a very young age how to mix herbs into plain meals to make them taste fit for a king. Perhaps I can sho-"

"Shut up Anarchy," The Knight interjects. "You have no business hitting on another female just a year after you let your previous wife die." He stands up, puting the empty bowl to his side.

Edin can feel the air turn from a calming breeze to a harsh crisp that you would find just before a perilous winter storm. She looks at Anarchy, whose expression has changed from a light-hearted cheer to a dark and angered tone. He stands up, nearly a full foot taller than the Knight, even while hunched over as he is now. With a careful eye, Edin can see a small yet faint ball of air swirl around inside of Anarchy's left palm, but quickly subsides as The Knight draws his blade, a smug smirk forming on his face.

"Oh come on Anarchy, whatever trash power you have obviously dulls in the face of mine. So bad, that you couldn't even save her." The Knight fiddles with his sword.

Anarchy looks up at the Knight, pure anger in his eyes, which to the surprise of all before him, have changed from his usual heterochromia state to a pure white, just as his hair. Even though he's caught off guard, The Knight growls and charges toward him.

"Don't do this Uriah!" Takahashi yells, attempting to run and catch him.

Anarchy quickly flicks his finger in the direction of Uriah, his hand still at his side, and almost too fast for Edin to see, had it not been for her sharp eye. Uriah suddenly stops in his tracks, being knocked back by a strong gust of wind that seemed to be only directed at him, having no effect on anyone else. Uriah falls into Takahashi's arms, almost perfectly.

"Where the he-?" Uriah starts to say, but is cut off as Anarchy runs with such speed that to the naked eye, it appears as if he teleported, and throws a punch, landing directly on Uriah's helmet's nose, cracking it and giving it an appearance of shattered glass.

Anarchy stands back up, his fist clenched and eyes still wild with fury. Rain starts to fall from the sky, and thunder behind it. With the help of Takahashi, Uriah stands up and takes off his helmet. To the surprise of Edin, he doesn't look like the prince charming she thought he was, but rather a gruff and bearded man with many scars along his cheeks. New to the collection of scars is a large gash with a piece of the skull part of his helmet stuck in the bridge of his nose. With only a slight wince, he pulls it out and hands his helmet to Takahashi, who is deathly pale and worried about the conclusion of this fight. He walks right up to Anarchy, who is still deeply angered, and he holds out his hand, a smile on the inside of his beard.

"Didn't think you had it in ya. Guess pops was right." Uriah says, a hoarse laughter filling his words.

Anarchy settles down, although not completely, for his eyes still white as snow, and begrudgingly shakes his brother's hand. Perhaps it was because he knew it would end badly for everyone, or because the rain started to turn to hail, but Anarchy signals a truce with Uriah and starts to pack everything up, unpacking three balls of cloth and throwing two out to the others. Jude and Uriah catch them and build a small tent, though Uriah stretches his out more to fit Takahashi and Sarah. Anarchy sighs and holds out one final ball, handing it to Edin. Edin begins to refuse, but seeing a defeated look in his eyes as they slowly turn back to their green and red heterochromia stops her as she sets up her own tent. She finds it rather easy to set it up, certainly easier than nailing stolen boards together as she once did when she lived in the village. She quietly laughs to herself as she thinks about all of the mischief she caused the townspeople, but that joy quickly turns to deep thought. Did she really want to stay here with these people whom she just met, let alone nearly had a fight to the death? Then she looks at Anarchy, who has curled himself into a ball under the carriage, and she smiles to herself. "Maybe I'm meant to be here? And who am I to deny fate?" She rhetorically asks herself as she takes down her tent and crawls under the carriage herself, wrapping the coth around the both of them like a blanket. Anarchy, who is already asleep or flawlessly acting as though he was, stops shivering and slowly uncurls himself, his breathing slowing and calming down. The rain stops and gives way to the sounds of crickets lulling Edin to a quick slumber.
