*Tessa*
We ended up watching all 3 parts of The Maze Runner. I underwent a little bit of nagging from Selie because she wanted me to convince dad that we can go out and party and get drunk because I'm now- almost - 18 even though she isn't even 17 yet. She knows that I never was and never will be a party person.
We had a goodnight sleep, that's of course if I don't include the parts where Selena smacks my face in her sleep.
* Knock, Knock *
I slowly opened my eyes. The moment I was fully awake Selena slapped me, again
I was used to her being the heaviest sleeper.
" Yes, dad "
" The breakfast is ready sweetie"
" On my way "
I sat up and slapped Selena
" What on Earth Tess ?! " She winced.
" Yep this is exactly what it feels like waking up to someone slapping you, now get up breakfast is ready "
She stretched for a bit and then got up.
Dad had already prepared scrambled eggs and bacon.
We went down stairs and took our seats; Selie and I on one side and then Emily and dad on the opposite side.
After we all took our seats Selena said
" Hi Mrs. Irwin "
Emily looked up from her plate, looked at Selena and then continued to eat.
" I came here yesterday, I didn't break into the house don't worry " Selena said
" Atleast not this time " Selie added, quietly laughing at her own joke.
This time, Emily didn't even bother to look at her. Selena leaned in towards me and said with a smile
" Oh trust me that women really loves me, she just doesn't show it "
I couldn't help but giggle.
Selena and I looked at each other when it became very obvious that dad was gesturing towards Emily to wish me a happy birthday.
She finally looked at me and said
" Happy birthday" she said like someone had a gun held to her head.
" Thank you Emily, really, I appreciate you listening to dad"
Selie kinda tapped my leg as a warning because she realized I was about to get mad.
" Oh shut up already " Emily simply said
"Why wouldn't you ever say it without anyone forcing you to, huh? We've lived together for as long as I remember, a simple happy birthday Tessa would've been nice, I'm just saying"
" Oh well, because I am not forced to, I never really remember being your mother, right? Oh right Tessa where did that coward go? Where did your mother go Tessa? the one person that loves you the most. Well she left you. More precisely, she died. Get over yourself. Now let me eat my breakfast peacefully kido. "
Selena held my hand below the table. She could feel my fist tightening because I was about to punch this women right in the middle of her stupid face. I looked Emily straight in the eye and I could feel my skin burning with rage, anger and grieve.
" I just lost my appetite" I simply said and went upstairs to my room.
" I should probably go too. Thanks David the food's amazing " Selena said following me and grabbed my plate.
I sat there on my bed blankly. I didn't know what to think of, I didn't know what to do.
" Don't listen to that crap she says Tess, really" she said entering the room and wrapping her arms around me.
We sat there for a couple of minutes until I felt I can function like a normal human again.
" Come here I wanna show you something " I said grabbing her hand.
I took the bacon from my plate and hopped out of the window and gestured for Selie to follow
" I almost thought you were done with living !"
shhh I gestured.
She followed.
I walked for a bit into the woods in front of our house.
" here we are " I said
" OMG TESS! this is the tree house we built ages ago ! "
" Oh hell ya it is! but this isn't what I got you here for... "
We carefully climbed up that short tree using the stairs we built years ago.
" Now meet Oreo " I said holding up my dog....
