Chapter 93 - Curing Boadicea (3)

This news stunned Leon and he was deep in thought.

"I guess after the pain. Mana did feel easier to handle and I became more comfortable using it…"

As Leon was thinking, the doctor continued.

"Well, then that's perfect! I won't have to go search for someone who can help me perform the treatment if you are willing to do it. Since no matter how strong her natural mana is, it would be hard for it to be superior to someone who has gone through mana purification and transformation."

Naturally, Leon wanted to help.

"Of course I would be willing to help! So...what am I doing exactly."

The doctor gestured for Leon to come closer to the examination table, which still had an unconscious Boadicea lying on top of it.

"Come closer, I'll tell you what to do and help guide you through the whole thing."

Hearing that the doctor would help guide him, Leon stopped hesitating and walked closer to Boadicea. Now that he was closer, Leon could feel and see that Boadicea was a lot worse than the first time he saw the scarlet-haired girl. Her body temperature was so hot, that he could feel the heat radiating off the small body while sweat-soaked her clothes.

The daunting condition of the little girl in front of him made Leon focus as he listened carefully to what the doctor said.

"First I want you to test simply releasing your mana. Not using the system to help you execute spells and magic, but rather just releasing the raw mana that your body has stored up. Before we can continue try doing that first."

Leon tried to do what the doctor described and at first, he tensed up his muscles like he was trying to forcibly squeeze out the mana, but all that did was make him look stupid. After another failure, the doctor gave him some advice.

"Try imagining the mana within your body and try guiding it to out of your fingertips, that should feel a lot easier rather than just tensing up your muscles."

Taking the doctor's advice into account, Leon closed his eyes and imagined his mana core located at his solar plexus and imagined a wide network of veins that started from the core. He imagined a light blue-colored stream of energy that reached every corner of his body and attempted to control the one that went into his arm.

At first, he tried to command and picture the steam of mana flowing out from the vein in his arm to the outside of his fingertips but didn't produce anything. After another few failures, Leon strengthened the image of mana and fully concentrated. This time a small stream of mana leaked out of Leon's fingertips and appeared in the physical, outside world.

Although he didn't show it, the doctor was very surprised with Leon's ability to control his mana, as he thought it would take Leon about an hour to learn the skill. Instead, Leon figured it out in a few minutes, this meant that Leon was adept with mana and had some talent.

After a few more minutes of Leon practicing the action, the doctor finally asked.

"Do you think you are ready now?"

Leon raised his hands and gave a thumbs up.

"Ready!"

The doctor signaled Leon to come closer and now they were both hovering over Boadicea who was lying on the examination table. The doctor began to give instructions.

"Alright first put your hand over her mana core at her solar plexus."

Leon put his middle and pointer finger over Boadicea's mana core, then the doctor continued.

"Then project your mana next to her mana core and connect your stream to part of her mana circulation, whether it be the mana core or one of the veins. Once you have accomplished that, try to take as much mana as possible and release it either into the air or into yourself."

With the instructions in mind, Leon closed his eyes as he pictures his stream of mana entering Boadicea's mana core. Once he reached this point, he didn't exactly know what to do from here as he didn't get to practice this part. The doctor could see that Leon was hesitating and tried to help Leon.

"Imagine the stream of mana as a hand that's scooping water, or in this case the girl's mana, out of the bowl or her mana core."

Leon tried to follow the doctor's order, but it was futile thinking he could do it and the image fell apart in his mind. As he failed, again and again, Leon started to sweat as he didn't know if his failing here would have dire consequences.

"It's not working!"

With his heart pumping and his hand starting to shake, Leon was starting to panic. Seeing Leon start to fall apart, the doctor sighed and moved Leon aside.

"Move over, I'll take it from here."

With a wave of blood rushing to his red ears, Leon didn't even give a second thought about the doctor's orders and moved aside as beads of sweat dripped down his head, even his breathing had become erratic.

Then something preposterous happened. The doctor started doing the exact same thing Leon had just done, but it looked completely different as the doctor did it with such grace and calmness. A person would automatically assume it was as easy as breathing for the doctor.

The doctor released a gentle and yellow stream of mana into Boadicea's mana core and suddenly a wave of mana that had a tinge of red started to flow into the air as it slowly dispersed by combining with the mana in the environment.

As the mana leaked out from Boadicea's body from where the doctor's stream of mana had entered from, her condition visibly improved, as her breathing started to steady, the amount of sweat leaking lessened, and her expression softened.

After almost five minutes of mana leaving Boadicea's body, the doctor finally stopped and gestured towards his short assistant, who handed him a brush with a set of jet black ink. Taking the brush and ink, the doctor dipped the brush in the jet black ink and proceeded to draw a series of symbols that surrounded Boadicea's mana core.

Once he finished drawing the symbols, the doctor once again released his gentle and baby-yellow mana, but this time the mana was sucked in by the ink, and after a few seconds of the doctor's mana being consumed. The ink glowed a baby-yellow color before it glowed red and eventually faded and was barely noticeable as the jet-black color changed to Boadicea's skin color.

When the entire process was over, Boadicea finally slept soundly like a normal kid without squirming in pain or sweating. The old village chief rushed up to check on his granddaughter, as Leon came to a realization.

"Wait, wait, wait. Why was I doing it, if you could have done it the entire time?
