Soon Erik and Leon arrived back to the now once again bustling Guild Hall of The Chosen.
Erik looked around at all his Adventurers and proudly rumbled.
"It seems like it's too loud in here to get anything done, so why don't we go upstairs to my office to talk. It seems like you wanted to talk about something urgent and something that would perhaps explain the various injuries perhaps and maybe even why the kid I raised like my own came back to me with two broken legs.
They proceeded to go up to Erik's office, which was located at the top of the giant Guild Hall on the fourth floor.
When they got there, Erik sat down at his desk and put on a serious face.
"Alright kid, let's talk business. Before you speak about anything else. Tell me what happened during that job and why you are injured to this extent."
As if Leon already knew what the Guild Master wanted, Leon immediately started. He told the Guild Master everything from his peaceful journey to the small Village of Xert in the no monster zone. As soon as Leon started to talk about the carvings on the giant door of the monument, he could sense Guild Master Erik tense up a little bit. However Leon continued on telling the story, he went from the maze all the way to the point where he blacked out.
It was at this point, Erik put his hand out and sighed.
"I have heard enough. It seems like a pretty bizarre experience, but it could possibly be very bad if that giant that you described came here and tried to destroy the city."
Leon nodded his head.
"Exactly, that is why I went straight to you Erik. That thing was so powerful it tossed around those guardians that would be a tough battle for even you like they were worthless ants. So what will you do Erik?"
Erik hesitated for a bit, deciding whether or not to tell Leon what he was planning to do. He eventually decided it was okay to tell Leon.
"I am going to go visit the Official Guild Representative of Verin to discuss this and report what happened. From there I just hope it can get relayed to the Guild Bureau in Pelv."
Leon's eyes widened.
"Pelv? The capital city of our Kingdom Partha, Pelv?"
Guild Master Erik laughed.
"Yes, that Pelv. While what you reported to me sounds like the being went off to do his own business. I still have to report this to headquarters to let the Royal Family and Senate know."
Leon almost fell out of his chair.
"The Royal Family? The Senate? What exactly happened, sir?"
Guild Master Erik smiled at Leon.
"Haha, I think this is the first time in a while you've called me sir or perhaps something besides 'Erik". But I know you are worried since I mention the Royal Family in such but do not worry too much, this is something beyond my and your need to know knowledge. Us knowing is already a big risk, but don't worry Leon. Remember I will always look out for you no matter how bad it gets, I made your parents a promise and I won't go back."
Leon couldn't do anything but nod. Guild Master Erik shooed Leon away with his hand.
"Alright, it's late so rest up. Heal up, so you can finally take on some new adventures!."
With that Leon took his leave and started his long descent down the stairs with his crutches. He eventually arrived at the first floor and by the time he made it to the front of the line, the outside was pitch black.
Looking to finally sleep on a bed instead of the ground, Leon looked to the yawning Lucia.
"Could I borrow a Guild Room for the night?"
Lucia nodded and handed Leon the keys to the rooms available for Adventurers when they are too tired to go back home or have nowhere to stay. Leon wobbled his way to the second floor and struggled to unlock the door.
The room was nothing special, but it had the essentials. A simple bed with a single pillow. A light source powered by a monster core. A plain-looking bathroom with a bucket of water. Finally, a desk and a single chair were propped against the wall. To Leon, a bed looked like heaven. Leon instantly dropped all his stuff and passed out the moment he touched the bed.
The next morning Leon's hair was all frizzled, but Leon didn't care and started his day. At first, he wanted to see if his legs were finally healed. He took off his wooden supports and took his first step. Much to his surprise, his legs felt weird. To confirm it, Leon started running across his room. His legs were fully healed, in fact, they felt lighter than ever. Leon attributed the fact to his increased agility he received after his stats were altered. With this, Leon set off to test his new skills in combat outside the city.
As he was leaving, Lucia who was eating breakfast at the Guild Hall saw him and rubbed her eyes in disbelief.
She got up and picked her hammer up.
"So yesterday when I was dying of worry, you were actually fine enough to be walking without a care in the world?"
Lucia threw her hammer at Leon and he took off with his new 41 agility. As Leon dashed out of the Guild Hall, he sprinted as fast he could hear the sound of Lucia's hammer striking the wall of the building.
Leon smiled as he ran.
"I am glad you gave me this chance Max and Dan because it feels good to be home."
