As Felix continued to distract the dungeon master, Alex began to explain the plan to Brandon.
"Our mission is simple. Seal the dungeon rift. That's it." [Alex]
"Okay. …Is what you thought I would say! How can we do that?!" [Brandon]
He pointed at Felix, who was fighting right in front of the rift.
"Listen. All we have to do is stick a device at the base of the rift." [Alex]
Alex then pulled out a small cube-like metallic object from his side pouch.
"This is a rift stabilizer. Our mission was to seal it quickly, but…" [Alex]
He glanced at the dungeon master.
"Unknown variables, huh. Bob gets on my ass for that too." [Brandon]
Alex smirked.
"I guess all operators are the same. Anyways, that's only the easy part." [Alex]
"...I'm afraid to ask about the hard part." [Brandon]
Alex nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. It's going to be hard to protect it for five minutes." [Alex]
"Five?! What for?!" [Brandon]
"The device needs to read the energy fluctuations and whatnot. I didn't really study that much about it." [Alex]
"What are you, Adam?" [Brandon]
"Woah woah. I'm not that brainless." [Alex]
Brandon pinched between his eyes in frustration and anxiety.
"Alright. So, how are we going to do this?" [Brandon]
"Use your Duplication ability to distract the dungeon master if you need to. Just defend me while I set up the device." [Alex]
"Easier said than done…" [Brandon]
He muttered under his breath.
"On the count of three, we'll go." [Alex]
"Sure." [Brandon]
"One…" [Alex]
The two readied themselves.
"Two…" [Alex]
Glancing at Felix who was currently trading blows with the dungeon master, Brandon's heart began to race.
"Three!" [Alex]
The two went into a mad dash towards the rift within an instant.
"Duplication!" [Brandon]
Splitting into three, he sent two of his clones to the dungeon master.
"Mirrored illusions?!" [Raik]
He ignored them thinking that they would come to pass as they did not have physical form. However, Raik was surprised to find himself falling over as the two clones tackled him away from the dungeon's rift.
"They're real?! What is this sorcery?!" [Raik]
"Now's our chance! Felix! Keep him away!" [Alex]
"I've got it!" [Felix]
Stabbing his staff into the floor, roots spread out and entwined itself around the dungeon master's limbs.
"Enough!" [Raik]
Raik burst into flame, incinerating both Brandon's clones and Felix's roots.
"Eh… worth a try." [Felix]
"...I really wonder what a dungeon master's physical composition is to be able to do this shit." [Alex]
"Guys, focus!" [Brandon]
Alex hastily placed the device at the base of the dungeon rift and began to take out parts to assemble it.
"Wait, that tiny piece wasn't all of it?!" [Brandon]
"Of course not! Do you think something so small can handle compressed energy?!" [Alex]
"How long is the setup going to take?!" [Brandon]
"Forty seconds!" [Alex]
As Alex made great progress on piecing the device together, Raik was alarmed.
("What is that?! I have to stop them!") [Raik]
He attempted to stop them, but was blocked off by Felix.
"Sorry, I can't let you in. You're not on the list." [Felix]
"Are you mocking me?!" [Raik]
He charged in and grabbed Felix's staff. A mistake that he realized will cost him dearly.
("It's sapping my energy?! No, it's taking my life force!") [Raik]
The dungeon master began to release it, only to find that some unknown force compelled him to tighten his grip.
("What?! No!") [Raik]
Raik felt his strength leave him as his body began to shrivel up. It was not until he was left on the cusp of death that Raik was released.
"Uh… What just happened?" [Felix]
Confusion and puzzlement filled Felix as he stared at the motionless dungeon master.
("No… I can't let myself die like this…!") [Raik]
Summoning what strength he had left, Raik placed a curse into his palm.
"Die here with me!" [Raik]
"Woah!" [Felix]
Caught off guard, Felix raised his arms in anticipation. However, he saw the dungeon master's head get blown off from a single punch.
"Huh?" [Felix]
Staring blankly, Felix was speechless as Adam stared back.
"...Was I not supposed to do that?" [Adam]
