They used all assets to kill voidlings. Rifles, grenades, breaking the environment, and their abilities.
"Watch your left!" [Brandon]
Sora turned to see a voidling leaping at him, but it was quickly dealt with as a sword pierced its chicken-like head.
"Careful. I can't always watch your back." [Adam]
"Thanks." [Sora]
The numbers of the voidlings increased, it was almost overwhelming. If not for the excessive stashes of explosives placed everywhere, it would be difficult to avoid being overrun.
("Give me some assistance, Krino!") [Adam]
"Don't worry. I've got it." [Krino]
Transparent black and white swords appeared by Adam, launching themselves at voidlings. They tore through their foes like a knife through butter, striking fear into the voidlings.
"What move is that?!" [Brandon]
What was once a horde of voidlings turned into a heap of corpses. The majority of their enemies remained at level 3 or 4, nothing that they can't handle.
"Hey! 3 o' clock swarm incoming!" [Sora]
"Duplication!" [Brandon]
He split into two, allowing him to send an exact copy of himself to intercept. With that, it didn't take long for the tides to turn in their favor.
"Their numbers are reducing!" [Adam]
"I think we can just take them all out, no need to stay for five minutes!" [Brandon]
Anxious as he may have been, Brandon had come to enjoy the moment.
"C'mon! Is there anyone else?! Come face me!" [Brandon]
Perhaps he was enjoying the moment a little too much.
"Oh? A human dares?" [???]
Among the voidlings, a singular being came forward. With gray skin and a single horn protruding from its forehead, a tall white haired humanoid stepped forward. Its appearance was that of a masculine structure, but it was difficult to tell with the feminine face.
"That's… a dungeon master?" [Krino]
It seemed that all voidlings had stopped, as if they wouldn't dare to intrude on this being's presence.
"...Who're you?" [Brandon]
"The one to take your head." [???]
After uttering such a line, It casually swiped a hand at Brandon.
"Duck!" [Sora]
Tackling Brandon, they barely avoided some kind of force cutting overhead.
"Good senses." [???]
Seeing the situation, Adam moved in front of his comrades.
"What's a dungeon master doing out here?" [Adam]
The being's eyes widened with surprise.
"Interesting. You know what I am?" [???]
"Of course. I've fought one of your kind before." [Adam]
The being's eyes drew themselves to Adam's sword.
"An Ethereal Blade… I suppose you have." [???]
Adam expected it to feel a bit fearful since having an Ethereal Blade would mean that he had defeated a dungeon master before, but the one he was currently facing only gazed with amusement.
"I shall give you my due respect, young warrior. My name is Ikyuu. One of the three dungeon masters residing within this… structure." [Ikyuu]
It motioned towards the skyscraper.
("There's two more?") [Adam]
"Bob really is missing out on the information." [Krino]
The dungeon master then reached out at Adam.
"Say… why don't you join us?" [Ikyuu]
"...Join you?" [Adam]
"Correct. Join us under the banner of the god of sin, Roht. You can gain command over our Cavos, and become a commander. Perhaps, you can even become an apostle and wield Roht's power yourself." [Ikyuu]
Laughter boomed within Adam's head.
"A mere dungeon master thinks you would go under Roht?! HAH!! If only that mongrel knew that "I", the mighty Astos was here!" [Astos]
"This isn't the time to boast." [Krino]
"I am not "boasting" as you would say. I am merely stating the fact that Adam would never go under Roht's command." [Astos]
"Yeah yeah…" [Krino]
Either way, Astos was right. Adam simply shook his head.
"I'll pass." [Adam]
That seemed to anger the dungeon master.
"You dare spurn Roht's grace?!" [Ikyuu]
Adam could feel the mana within the dungeon master stir as the energy around it began to shift. Before anything bad could happen, Adam lowered himself and whispered to his friends.
"Brandon. Sora. I'm going to need you guys to find some cover." [Adam]
"What?! What about you?!" [Sora]
Brandon placed a hand on Sora's shoulder and shook his head.
"He's got this." [Brandon]
Adam smiled as he felt Brandon's trust.
"Give 'em hell." [Brandon]
