That day, it was recorded that there were 2 injured and 37 dead. It was unfortunate that the soldiers further in the cave could not be saved when the first soldier line was formed. Thankfully, the bravery of three soldiers put a stop to the whole wave of voidlings.
"Report." [Captain Kumre]
Standing together, there was Adam, Brandon, and Randy to speak of the events. Sora, on the other hand, remained in a military affiliated hospital.
"This donk- I mean, Private Adam ignored orders and went over the soldier line during a dungeon invasion." [Sergeant Randy]
Captain Kumre stared at Adam.
"Is this true?" [Captain Kumre]
"...Yes. But it was-" [Adam]
"Stop!" [Captain Kumre]
He raised a finger for silence.
"Only speak, when I ask you to speak. If I ask you a question that can be answered using "Yes" or "No", you will only answer with a "Yes" or "No". Understood?" [Captain Kumre]
"...Yes." [Adam]
Unable to speak his mind, Adam felt anxious.
"So, how did you guys stop the dungeon invasion?" [Captain Kumre]
"Er… Private Adam went in and killed most of it himself." [Sergeant Randy]
"Really?" [Captain Kumre]
There was doubt in his eyes.
"With what equipment?" [Captain Kumre]
"None, sir." [Sergeant Randy]
He then turned his head towards Adam.
"How did you do it?" [Captain Kumre]
"I used a Soul Weapon." [Adam]
"A… Soul Weapon." [Captain Kumre]
Raising a brow, Captain Kumre paced back and forth.
"So tell me… YOU are in possession of a Soul Weapon." [Captain Kumre]
"Yes." [Adam]
"Show me." [Captain Kumre]
Adam glanced around. Around him was a standard green tent, soundproof and sturdy against all elements. They were still inside a cave… However, whether or not Krino appears from a lightning bolt or just within his hand is not in Adam's control.
"...Here?" [Adam]
"Yes, here." [Captain Kumre]
"Can I do it outside?" [Adam]
"What part of "Here" do you not understand?" [Captain Kumre]
Adam felt like he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
("Well, it's on him if the tent falls over.") [Adam]
Opening his hand, Adam began to chant. This time, the full one.
"Requesting access to the celestial archive. Pass your judgment to the strong and the weak. Manifest yourself, Krino!" [Adam]
A rumbling was heard overhead, and the cavern shook. Within seconds, the sound of thunder roared as a bolt of lightning tore through the tent and landed at Adam's feet.
"AHHH!!" [Captain Kumre]
Surprised by the sudden flash of light, he stumbled backwards as he stared wide eyed and mouth agape at the sword in the middle of the room.
"This is it." [Adam]
Slowly turning his head upwards, Captain Kumre could see a ray of sunlight entering the cavern.
"...The sky? How?" [Captain Kumre]
There was a commotion outside the tent of people trying to figure out what happened.
"This is my Soul Weapon. As you have called for, sir." [Adam]
Captain Kumre recollected himself as he realized the situation.
"A-Ahem! Pardon me." [Captain Kumre]
He then reached for the sword.
"W-Wait sir!" [Sergeant Randy]
Recalling the scene of undead turning to ash after approaching the blade, Sergeant Randy feared his superior would meet the same fate. Luckily, nothing happened as Kumre's hand wrapped around the handle.
"It has a nice feel." [Captain Kumre]
He then tugged at the blade.
"...Huh?" [Captain Kumre]
The blade did not budge.
"How about this?" [Captain Kumre]
Lowering into a squatting position, Kumre tried to lift the sword with two hands. Lamentably, he received the same results.
"How the hell…?" [Captain Kumre]
Captain Kumre stepped back, a bit stumped.
"Sergeant Randy, can you try pulling this?" [Captain Kumre]
"Yes sir." [Sergeant Randy]
He reached with hesitation, the memory of charred undead still fresh in his mind. Randy's doubts vanished the moment his fingers touched the handle safely.
("I'm safe…") [Sergeant Randy]
With great strength, Randy attempted to pull the sword from the ground.
"HRNG!!!" [Sergeant Randy]
Just like Captain Kumre, it did not show any sign of moving.
"Okay, that's enough Sergeant. Adam, please take the sword out." [Captain Kumre]
Sergeant Randy then stepped away, rubbing his hands with relief in his chest.
"Yes, sir." [Adam]
And just like that, Adam plucked the sword out.
"...Is that thing supposed to be Excalibur?" [Captain Kumre]
"Its name is Krino." [Adam]
"I… was joking. That thing has a name?" [Captain Kumre]
Adam nodded, causing Kumre to give him a pitying look.
("He must not have a lot of friends…") [Captain Kumre]
"Well, can I hold uh… Krino, for a moment?" [Captain Kumre]
Holding out a hand, Kumre believed that it should be lightwork to hold the sword in comparison to pulling it out of the ground.
"Don't let him hold me." [Krino]
("Why?") [Adam]
"Can't you see? He wants me." [Krino]
Adam looked into Kumre's eyes. He could see a burning desire deep within.
("Huh.") [Adam]
"Sir, Krino does not consent to you holding him." [Adam]
"...Are you joking?" [Captain Kumre]
"No sir." [Adam]
Feeling belittled, Kumre attempted to snatch the sword from Adam's hand.
"Don't you lie to me-!" [Captain Kumre]
The sword slipped out of Adam's hand and into Kumre's. Within an instant, Kumre fell along with the blade.
"Wha- Argh!" [Captain Kumre]
The sword applied great weight onto Kumre's hand, making it feel as if he could lose his hand any moment.
"G-Get it off!" [Captain Kumre]
He struggled to lift himself off the ground, but could not as the sword pinned his hand to the ground.
"P-Private Adam! Do…?" [Sergeant Randy]
His voice trailed off as fear set in. If Adam could reduce the Captain to such a state, Randy did not dare to find out what could happen to himself.
"Okay, I don't want this guy's grubby fingers on me anymore. Can you pick me up?" [Krino]
("...You know you just made things bad for me, right?") [Adam]
"Oh, trust me. I know." [Krino]
