Chapter 206 - The Staff Of Yggdrasil

The summoning was far different from before. Instead of a giant flower revealing a purple sword, large brown tree roots latched onto the guardian.

"Huh?! What is this?!" [Right Horned Guardian]

The guardian snapped off some roots, but was unable to escape from how quickly they grew back.

"This energy…! Divine power?!" [Right Horned Guardian]

Opening his mouth, the guardian fired off energy in an attempt to burn off the roots. The roots set aflame, burning off within an instant.

"That was quick." [Felix]

"You- Urgh!" [Right Horned Guardian]

The guardian lurched forward as something struck his stomach. He looked down to see what it was, and saw a cracked green staff that seemed to have something pulsating a deep gold inside.

"What… is this…?" [Right Horned Guardian]

He felt his strength draining the longer he was in contact with it, so the guardian hastily leapt away.

"Oh. You noticed." [Felix]

Felix playfully twirled the staff around with a smug look on his face.

"What is that?!" [Right Horned Guardian]

"My soul weapon. It changed a lot, you know." [Felix]

"Please refer to me by my name." [Dianoia]

Felix sighed.

"Whoops. I meant my partner, Dianoia." [Felix]

The guardian gave him a strange look.

"That's impossible. A weapon possessing divine power cannot absorb demonic energy." [Right Horned Guardian]

Felix scratched his head.

("Huh. Dianoia, how does it work? I know I had to call on the demonic archive when you were a sword. Why are you celestial now? Actually, why are you a staff?") [Felix]

"It's simple. The sword was the form you wanted before. The staff is what you use best. A soul weapon is built to work with the user at their best. Not their wants." [Dianoia]

("That… doesn't answer much.") [Felix]

"Don't mind it too much." [Dianoia]

Copying his weapon's answer, decided to use it on the guardian

"Don't mind it too much." [Felix]

"...Then die with your secrets." [Right Horned Guardian]

Balls of energy formed in his hands, firing off in multitudes within the next instant.

("You ready, Dianoia?") [Felix]

"Of course." [Dianoia]

Spinning his staff, Felix twirled it around his body while simultaneously striking every ball of energy thrown at him. The balls of energy dispersed, seemingly vanishing the moment they touch the staff.

"Impossible!" [Right Horned Guardian]

Finding an opening from the guardian's surprise, Felix went on the attack.

"Pierce!" [Felix]

Thrusting the staff at the guardian, it extended itself rapidly.

"What?!" [Right Horned Guardian]

The staff grazed the guardian's cheek as he tilted his head.

("It's sapping my energy!") [Right Horned Guardian]

"Switch!" [Felix]

Felix suddenly switched places with his staff, allowing him to slam his fist into the guardian's jaw.

"Ack!" [Right Horned Guardian]

Felix shortened the staff and continued to beat the guardian down. Rotating his body and switching whichever side of the staff he used to attack had the guardian completely confused.

"Enough!" [Right Horned Guardian]

In an attempt to make space, the guardian blasted energy all around.

"Nope!" [Felix]

Felix disregarded the blast and thrusted with the staff, causing all the energy to vanish before it could do harm.

"Try again next time." [Felix]

Gripping the staff, Felix swung it like a baseball bat.

"Argh!" [Right Horned Guardian]

Sent flying a few meters, the guardian tumbled on the ground upon landing.

"This…! This shouldn't be happening!" [Right Horned Guardian]

Slamming his fist into the ground, the guardian stared at Felix with anger.

"This power can't be wielded by a mere mortal!" [Right Horned Guardian]

Felix shrugged.

"Mere? What does that make you?" [Felix]

Felix felt energy returning to his body the longer he held onto the staff. Perhaps the energy stolen was returned to him.

"Damn you…! I'll have your- Ngh!" [Right Horned Guardian]

The guardian clutched his chest. Purple flames surrounded the body, causing him to cry out in pain.

"Woah!" [Felix]

"Back away!" [Dianoia]

Following Dianoia's words, Felix stepped back until the heat was felt no longer.

("What is happening?") [Felix]

The guardian writhed on the ground until the flames died out, leaving only ashes.

"I… think it's dead." [Dianoia]

"...I'm confused." [Felix]
