Chereads / A Bloody System / Chapter 19 - Chapter 19-Raw

Chapter 19 - Chapter 19-Raw

When Diego opened the door to his apartment I was waiting for him. Diego stepped into his home and I grabbed him by the collar, dragging him inside. Collin quickly shut the door and locked it behind us.

I looked Diego in the eyes and spoke in a low voice, "Well hello there Diego, now where is all that blood the Falcone's are hiding? Don't try and deny it, I overheard your little meeting with your mysterious friend."

Diego's eyes were wide in fear, I wouldn't get anything useful out of him while he was like this. I brought him closer, he struggled but under my strength but resistance was futile. I bit into his neck and enjoyed a few mouthfuls of blood, I proceeded to inject him with my venom. I was getting more accustomed to using it, I could feel it like a small click at the roots of my fangs.

I released Diego and guided him to sit on the couch while he recovered, the outside of his home was a disguise, even the inside of his home wasn't all there was to it. It was clean and everything seemed normal but while we had waited for him to come home I had rifled through his things.

I had found a stash of case files, guns in hidden alcoves and bug out bag filled with new identities and cash. With everything in the house I wondered how long Diego had been a spy for, he was in his early twenties so they would have needed to pick him up during his early teens to make him so effective.

I watched as Diego pulled himself together, my questions about his training could wait. There was only one thing I needed to know, "Diego, where is the blood?" was all I asked.

He stood and gave me a small salute by placing an open hand above his heart and replied with the answer I had been craving for the last few hours, "Warehouse 37, sir. Three miles west of here, the guard rotations change every three hours and the last one should have been an hour ago. If you want the blood then the best time to strike is an hour before or after the shift change."

He had analyzed and pointed out the weakness of the guard rotation rather quickly, he had probably given this information to his employer. We were pressed for time as I didnt know when Diego's employer would make their move on the blood supply. I immediately messaged Kirene to prepare another vehicle to transport a large amount of blood.

The clones were called over as well, I had Diego guide us to the warehouse and we waited for Kirene and Nia to bring a vehicle that could not only store a large amount of blood, but also keep it cool during transport and while we waited for the storage unit in the clinic to be installed.

With only 45 minutes before the shift change remaining I began to think I would need to postpone our attack. Luckily I received a message from Kirene that they had brought the truck and was parked no to far down the street.

We would attack while we waited for the girls to catch up.

I led Collin and Diego towards the warehouse, when we got closer to the gate Diego took the lead and approached the lone guard. I placed my hands behind my back and stealthily summoned my claws, while Diego held his attention I pretended to look about.

When I was close enough I slashed the guard across his throat before I changed the man and took a few mouthfuls before I lowered him to the ground silently. Diego pulled the key from the guard and opened the gate, there were nine guards left.

Past the gate was the warehouse, a small office space was attached where six of the remaining guards were drinking beer and watching a fight on the TV. The other guards were most likely in the warehouse, Diego went in first and called out to the guards.

They greeted him like an old friend, though that didn't last long once the fight started back up again they dropped their guards and Collin, Diego, and I struck at the same time. Diego used two knives while Collin used his fists. The clones were a great help as they had rushed into the office and tackled most of the guards while I slit their throats. I took a mouthful from each of my victims before moving on.

I sent the signal to bring in the truck, while the truck was on its way in Collin would open the gate while the clones and Diego came with me to find the other guards. On our way into the warehouse Diego explained that the only ability user we had to worry about was on a date and wouldn't be back until morning, though with my current level and stats I should be able to overpower standard ability users.

We rushed through the warehouse, it had been fitted to become an icebox for the blood and it was extremely cold, we found the guards standing by several space heaters. I rushed them and sliced at them with my claws, catching one in the face and another on the chest.

Their sweet blood filled the air with a lovely scent, not a moment later Diego stabbed the third guard while the clones beat on the prey I had clawed in the chest. I fed on my three new victims before slicing their throats and letting them bleed out what remained.

The bay doors for the warehouse started to rattle open, Colling messaged me saying they were ready to begin loading the truck. We ran to the storage area and I gasped at the sight of clear boxes filled to the brim with blood bags.

It was the motherload of blood that we needed. Thankfully the Falcone's had sorted the blood by type for me. We gathered the AB+ blood first, roughly 3000 liters of blood just for the type I wanted the most. Next we collected the rest but we could only fit an additional 4000 liters into the truck, we placed a few boxes into the rover as well but it seemed we would be leaving more than half of the blood supply here.

I had the others leave the speeder parked nearby while they moved the truck and rover, once they had moved the bodies into the sewers of course. I stayed behind to sample as many of the remaining bags before the gang members showed up, I drank from several bags of various types and kept an eye on my on my vitality stat.

Thanks to my earlier snacks I had boosted it to 34 and each time I drank from a new source it rose higher, I kept drinking until it finally stopped at fifty. I tried drinking from another source but the system provided me with some guidance.

"You are a bloodling, and though you are superior to Terrans you have reached the peak of vitality for a bloodling. Evolve further to increase the stat threshold."

I dropped what remained of my meal on the ground, I had reached a peak in being a bloodling already. Though 50 in each stat would let me crush the strongest of Terran ability users, ship cannons and tanks would still be able to cause fatal injuries.

I spilled a box of blood on my way out and hopped onto my speeder and headed for home. I needed to complete my missions and start feasting on those blood bags, there were still plenty of points to gain and experience to earn.

Unfortunately I had only snagged four shadows during the heist, I had noticed that for every two shadows I gained one portion of Shadow Grain meaning I still needed 14 more shadow kills to complete my mission for the abyss.

Once I arrived at the penthouse I could finally relax, when I walked into the kitchen the blood was prepped for me and Collin and Diego were stocking the fridge with more blood. I sat at the table and began to drink the blood that had been prepared. Vera didn't say anything while I drank but she had prepared a hot towel and wiped my face and hands and sat with me.

Strange at first but I liked the quietness. I looked through the system announcements while I drank in another five new sources, I skipped through most of the announcements though I did enjoy looking at the exp rise and reset. I assigned my 20 free stat points I had accumulated from feeding on AB+ blood and spread them among my remaining non capped stats.

With a sigh I chugged the remaining blood on the table and watched my stats page change once more.

Even as I had felt full not but a few moments ago, that aching hunger returned with a savage vengeance. I asked Vera to retrieve another 20 liters from the fridge and to try and aim for different donors before I went back to looking at the stats page.

I had gained much in a single night, my HP had skyrocketed along with my thrall count, with that many thralls I could have a small organization at my beck and call. Though it wasn't an army quite yet, it could be very useful all the same.

The time between feedings had sped up once more, yet the amount had stayed the same, it was a miracle we got to the blood when we did otherwise I would be in quite the bind.

Vera came back over and placed several bags onto the table, the sight of the blood drove my hunger up another notch and I tore into my meal. Even as I ate like a starved beast I wondered if my thirst would ever be quenched?
