Chapter 21 - Epilogue

Two weeks later, my knee was beginning to feel better. I could move around a little. Genevieve and Daniel helped me with whatever I needed. Mom cooked for me. I must say, I missed her food so much. Her foods were and will always be delicious. My uncle Sam, continued to keep me updated with everything. General and his men had been taken to court. He did not confess to killing Sebastian and Andre. But, the police where able to discover Sebastian's and Andre's body, along with two other unknown bodies.

That was enough evidence to send him to court. Uncle Sam updated me and my family on everything. It was very hard for me when I was told Sebastian's and Andre's bodies have been found. It brought back painful memories. I wanted more than ever for General to rot in prison and never come out to hurt anyone again.

Uncle Sam came by as usual to give an update on what happened in the court. Apparently, a verdict had been reached and he wanted me to know about it. Genevieve and Daniel were with me.

" I am so happy I met the three of you today. I came by to give this news to you. As you all know, today is the day the judge decided to give his verdict. So after the closing remarks and everything else, general and his men were all sentenced to life in prison", he told us.

" That serves him right. At least he will be away for a long time", Daniel said

" I am glad that finally is all over. My brother is finally free of him" Genevieve added.

" Yes. Talking about freedom, the state has decided to acquit David and let him go", uncle Sam said again.

We were all shock. I was finally free. I could not believe it.

" The judge decided to let you go based on the fact that you were a victim of General aka George Addo. And, also you were of great help in finally bringing him down. So as an appreciation for what you did, they decided to let you go. Congratulations God son", he said.

I was so lost for words. My brother and sister hugged me and were having smiles all over their faces. I felt a wave of relieve wash over me. Now, I can finally go home and be with my family again.

" Wait! Did you say General's name is George Addo?" I suddenly asked

" Yes, that is his real name. And he has a family too. He is married to a woman called Sophia and has two children with her, a boy and a girl", uncle Sam replied.

" So that man has children and he still went ahead to hurt children of other people? That man has no conscience at all", Genevieve stated.

" That shows how sick and twisted his mind is. I just feel sad for his family, now that he is in jail", I said.

" Yeah, it's sad indeed", Uncle Sam agreed.

Three weeks later

My knee was feeling better and I was finally discharged. I was able to move around now without help, though I still needed to use clutches. My family welcomed me back home with a big party. All our friends were there and everyone present was nice to me. I was very happy.

I started attending therapy to help me cope with everything  I had been through. It took a while for me to get my life back together, but I did. Gradually I gained everything I once lost. My family, my home and my education. I also gained new friends, real friends who helped me stay on the right path.

My relationship with my brother improved. I can't really say we were as close as before, but it was still good between us. I am glad life gave me another chance, for which I will always be grateful for.
