Chapter six: intoducing her two world.
The secret to fitting in any of those college parties is simple really: a) dress like a slut. B) act like a bitch. C) always have a drink in your hands.
The secret to surviving those college parties is different though:
Secret #1: Never act like you dress because fat chances you'll end up with STD or pregnant. Seriously people here tend to forget about the great invention that is a condom.
Secret#2: Always stick to the crowd and never be alone even in the bathroom because drunk horney college guys tend to think that no is just a synonmym for ' oh fuck yes, please take me up against the nearest wall'
Secret#3: Never take drinks from anyone. Period. Not even from the bar. You're safer snatching a drink from the nearest guy and patting your fake eyelashes at him to avoid any farther conflict.
Secret #4 ( to which I just added and hopefully wouldn't have to use ever again ) : NEVER offer Elias a ride ever again because he's a fucking asshole. Fact.
I've been in his house ( which was so massive by the way, and Had a huge stairs right infront of the front door that looked perfect for a Cinderella descending scene. ) for over half an hour now and the asshole wasn't here yet. Half an hour ago, his mom opened the door, gave my outfit (which consisted of a leather black shorts, a red crop top, leather black jacket, and combat boots) a look, smirked and gave me a very prolonged " Niiiice "
Yeah, the woman was weird. And ridiculously beautiful and sexy for her age but let's not dwell on that now. Point is she only shouted " ELIAS GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE THERE'S A GIRL WAITING " very loud and very near my ears might I add, then she gave me a nod and walked away. Just like that. I could have been a serial killer. Or a vase collector and god knows how many of those expensive things are here. I could have been a Spy on a secret mission to kill her son, and she just left me standing infront of her door.
I considered going over the stairs to look for his room but venturing Into unfamiliar territory wasn't my thing. I had seen movies, thank you very much. Besides, I wasn't kidding the house was huge.
Half an hour later, I was seriously considering actually smuggling the weird looking vase right next to the staircase just to spite him. Until footsteps sounded at the top of the stairs and Elias Came into view along with his stupid best friends Seth. They seemed to be talking about something serious, sence Seth didn't have his usual smirk on, and Elias was scowling. And while I didn't give a single fuck about what they were talking about, I did give a fuck about their slower than grandma pace they were walking in.
I swear I was this close to making good use of that weird looking vase beside me (other than stealing it that is) . It would look so much better smacked against their heads. " Alright, are you gonna get this whole cliche pre prom scene over with or do you want me to leave your ass in here because I have absolutely no problem with that. "
That got both of their attention and they both seem surprised about me being here.
" Well, I'll be damned. Erielle Stevens. " Seth whistled looking me up and down like the douche he is. Well, couldn't blame him I did look hot.
" I see we've managed to establish my name and your damnation, nice. " I muttered crossing my arms over my chest and looked at Elias in accusation. My irritation doubling at the sight of his bestfriend " see when I said I will pick you up at seven, I didn't mean, hey have a friend over and I will wait for as long as you want. "
He smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head. " Sorry, Stevens. I thought you said eight."
I sucked the lip ring Into my mouth, trying not to curse his ass. " that makes me feel so much better."
He opened his mouth to say something but shit head next to him interrupted " Wait, wait, Why is she picking you up? You guys are going out? "
A moment of silence passed where I tried to dechiper if he actually knows anything about what we were actually doing. A look at Elias's pleading expression told me that he doesn't, and I shouldn't bring it up either. It was odd, but I went for it. I wasn't very fomd of Elias to want to keep his secrets and shit. But I wasn't really fond of Seth either.
" just to clarify there's nothing going between us. Other than that, you need to mind Your Own business. " I told him, more than Ready to get out of here. Elias's shoulder relaxed when he realized I'm not going to say anything and he gave me a small smile.
looking back and forth between us, Seth didn't seem to share my sentiment about wanting to get the hell out of here. " what am I messing here? Didn't you guys hate each other's guts? "
I sighed impatiently and looked at Elias who nodded in understanding " look man, we can finish talking later. I need to go, right niw" he said jogging the rest of the stairs down and I turned around to get out of there.
" Fine. But you better mean it. We're not done talking! " Seth shouted after us.
I got into my car and slammed my door shut waiting for his highness to get in before I drove out of here. " Next time, you're picking me up. " I declared once we hit the road.
" got you exactly where I wanted you, Princess. " He said digging in his pocket and tossing a pack of M&M's my way.
I spared him a quick goance narrowing my eyes. " You know you can't pribe me with food everytime right?" but I took the pack anyway.
" it worked for me so far. "
I rolled my eyes but let it go and drummed my fingers on the steering wheels, reaching over to ruffle my bangs a bit wondering if I should bring it up. I mean was it really odd? Do boys tell each other everything? I mean yeah, Dad's group of friends basically told each other everything but they had been friends since forever.
" Spit it out, Ellie. " Elias's voice felled with amusement broke Into my thoughts.
I cast a glance his way, confused for a moment. "what?"
" you obviously wanna know something. spit it out. Ask away. "
Well, what the hell, he asked for it. Might as well just ask. " why didn't you want Seth to know? " it was quite weird if you compared us. Seth is his best friend since middle school. I'm his project partner and before today our conversations only consisted of a bunch of school crap, and very innovative insults.
He was silent for a minute and I ruffled my bangs once again impatiently, barely able to keep my mouth shut " I.. Let's just say he's not really my favorite person at the moment. " his tone indicated that he didn't want to talk about it so I let it go.
Zoe's building was closing up on us, anyway. " so I'm your favorite, person?" I teased parking the car and looked around searching for a wild blonde hair.
" you're the only person I don't hate at the moment, actually " he muttered, Looking outside his window.
Say what now?
I didn't know if I should say something. Or of he actually meant for me to hear it, but I decided to stay silent, noticing that Zoe's familiar blonde hair was making it's way out of the building from across the street.
" if it makes you feel better, Seth made me realize that you're a completely tolerable person. " So much for staying silent.
Elias turned his head to look at me with a small smile.
" I live for your complements, I swear "
" ERIELLE! " Zoe's shout caught both of our attention and we both looked across the parking lot were she stood waving her hands franticaly around so I could see her. She could have just walked normaly to the car and then get in, but I guess that would have been to much normalicy to ask from Zoe. She weaved her way between the parked cars still waving idiotically as she crossed the road to where we were parked.
A smile tipped the edge of my lip as I took her in.
She so typically wore the shortest, most red dress I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure if she leaned in the slightest way, she would flash the whole street behind her. Her wide curly blonde hair fell down past her waist and a nine inch heels complemented her very long legs. She looked like a hooker, actually. A very hot hooker though.
" Zoe Richardson? " Elias asked raising both eyebrows at the waving girl a head. Yes, Zoe had quite the reputation back when she was in high school. A little like his sister, if I think about it. Actually now that I mention it, I do remember them having a conversation every now and then.
" yeb, be warned though, she's a bit much. " I told him, just as she got Into the back seat, painting as if she had ran a marathon.
" Girl, who's the hottie?" was her very moving greeting after almost three weeks of not seeing each other. She didn't even wait for me to speek, she stuck a hand between our seats and gave Elias a huge grin. " I am Zoe. That moron's best friend." gee, I am feeling the love.
Elias chuckled shaking her out stretched hand in an awekward way considering their angles. " I am Elias. The moron's date for the Night. "
I swear to god. " He's not my date." I gritted out putting the car in gear and drive out of the parking lot.
They completely ignored me. Zoe gasped sticking her head between the two seats to look at him." Holy shit! You are Elias -pain in her ass- Dunbirk."
Elias laughed loudly at that looking at me in amusement. " I like how popular I am with your people."
I gave Zoe a swift glare before turning my eyes to the road again. " Thanks for that." I deadpanned.
She patted my shoulder twice," your welcome, babe." then turned back to Elias she asked, " So what's the deal, you stopped being a blunt stoic asshole?"
God, the moment I get out of the car, I was going to Strangle her.
Another amused glance was thrown my way from Elias. "Never."
She was getting confused as she looked back and force between the two of us. She settled on me. " you stopped hating him?"
I shrugged.
Elias coughed.
Zoe frowned. " what gives?"
I sighed, obviously she's not stopping until she gets an answer. " we have reached a... Mutual agreement."
Zoe went silent for a moment before her head disappeared and I heard her cackling. " Is that what you kids call it these days?"
It took me three seconds to get it, and after taking a glance at Elias trying to hold in his laughter, I stopped the car at a red light and turned to glare at her. " Zoe, remember when we were friends?"
She just waved me off with a small laugh." Oh, hush. I am the bestest friend you can ever hve." then sticking her head in between seats she asked, " So when did you two pumb uglies? "
Yes, it was a very long ride.
It was mostly comments like that from Zoe, A barely concealed laughter from Elias and an exasperation, eye rolls, glares on my part.
Elias was unusually quiet, though. He kept his replies one syllable, and he ever even once laughed out loud. It was slightly weird, no smart ass comments, no sarcasm, no bluntness. It actually caught me off guard abit. I didn't know if he is that way with new people, or if it was just me who brought out that side of him. Either way, I basked in that random moment of unassholeness.
when we reached the address Zoe gave me, she was the quickest person I Have ever seen exit a car. Elias gave me an amused smile before exiting and I followed suit. I faltered as I took in the sight of the building in front of me. It turned out the party was on the roof. Fairy lights dangled long and all different colors covering almost half of the five stories. It was fascinating. Faint music reached down hear and along with the light and the breeze. It was amazing. Really was.
" Woah." Elias breathed beside me as we both stood craning our necks to admire the view.
Zoe settled for a very loud "Awesome! " not even pausing as she looked up and skipped all the way to the entrance
I smiled at her, shook my head, but jogged after her starting to sing with the songs blaring from upstairs, as we all climbed the stairs, and she joined. That is until we hit the third floor and she started panting worse that a dog on July, and I stopped to laugh at her.
Then we reached the roof door and it was wide open. No one stood in front of it, and no one was even out here.
Invites only my ass.
I looked at Zoe accusingly and she just sheepishly smiled my way. " I may or may not have only said that so I can get a free ride. " she confessed and I gave her my best glare even though I was actually impressed. Evil genius. Can't believe I fell for that one.
" dude, you owe me. " I told her pointing a finger at her face.
" Whoa, okay, just put the finger down, no need to do something you're gonna regret later. " she finished with an over dramatic horrified expression. When I gave her a sarcastic 'Haha' she Grinned kissing my cheeks. " later babe, save me three songs. Mama's gotta have some shots. " and with a haste side hug, she jogged threw the door and into the party.
I shook my head at her retreating figure hald in amusement, half in irritation.
" So.. You just got used for a car ride. " Elias's infuriating amused tone reached my ears and I turned around sharply to give him a glare, not even surprised by the small smile on his face. The guy always looked like he was enjoying some inside joke only he knew about.
" No. No. " I said moving my index finger right and left to demonstrate my point, then I so generously explained. " I let that happen. There was simply more gas in my tank than I could possibly need."
Elias's smile widened and he regarded me with growing amusement, and goddammit I think I was blushing. " How inconvenient."
" exactly." I said hurriedly turning around so he won't see my burning cheeks. Traitors." Now if you're done being a jerk we should get in." and without waiting I walked through the doors into the crowds and headed straight towards a makeshift bar that stood over two steps which I thought might give us a good view over the whole party. It took us a while to get there. The crowds were thick and a bit crazy. Dancing, singing, stripping, beer bonging, and even peeing I swear. You name it.
Of course the latter was actually brought to my attention by non other than Elias gladly pointing it out and normally receiving a punch and a 'God, you're disgusting' in reply.
When we reached the bar I was actually surprised I knew the temporary bartender.
" Krishan! " I shouted over the music gaining his attention and I watched as a grin took over his face. Justin Krishan was actually one of the very few people I gave a shit about at our school. He was one of the hottest and most down to earth guy I have ever seen. A fascinating compination that was actually the reason I liked him so much. This summer though he got together with a girl named Alex and I swear I never see him anymore. Not even at school which was pretty impressive since our school wasn't even that big.
" STEVENS! Man, it's been a while! Want your pretend scotch? " I smiled at that, surprised he remembered.
Ignoring Elias's questioning stare I shouted " you're an angle! Yes, please! " I would have asked how he is but I doubt having a shouting conversation over the music would be considered a nice catching up.
" you got it " he slid a soda can across the bar then turned to look at Elias. An expression of confusion and curiosity flashing on his face which seemed to be everyone's reaction to seeing us together today. " Elias " he addressed him with a nod sounding uncertain.
" Hey man. " Elias nodded back but he seemed kind of distracted as he kept looking around the part of the roof where people where dancing.
Justin gave me stupid winking faces when he noticed that Elias wasn't looking and I was torn between laughing at how ridiculous he looked and dumping my soda on his shirt because it's Elias we're talking about.
I settled for a sarcastic smile " if you are trying to tell me you're retarded, I already figured this out years ago. " I commented loudly and he instantly stopped with the faces giving me a glare just as Elias toned back into the conversation.
" Hey, can I have a soda? " he asked, a distant look crossing his face.
" yeah, sure. " Justin slid him his beer." hey, Stevens, don't be a stranger okay? Come say good night before you leave." and giving my bangs a very unappreciated ruffle as a goodbye, he turned away to serve a bunch of girls who gathered around the bar looking already hammered.
I opened my soda and took a sip watching Elias as he scanned the crowd. I stood silently because he looked like there was something bothering him. His grey eyes had that distant look like he wasn't even seeing anything he was looking at. His light brown hair was messy due to the fact that he developed the habit of running his hands threw it every 10 seconds. The corner of his lips was slightly curved into a frown and_
Damn, was I really checking him out?
Because he couldn't have just been ugly. Him and his stupid beautiful face.
Shaking my head to get rid of my thoughts I reached out and poked him in the chest, trying really hard not to show that I just mentally called his face beautiful.
" hmm?" he asked turning around to look at me.
" whatcha thinking? " it came out too coy for my liking but he didn't seem to notice. Still distracted by whatever he was thinking about.
His mouth opened and closed a few times but nothing came out and I decided to spare him. " see any of Leah's friends? " I leaned close so he could hear me over the music.
He nodded " um.. Yeah. You See that guy with the man bun on the railing? " he asked leaning in too and I followed his gaze to a guy who was propped up on the prick railing smoking a cigerrate with no company around him. He was dressed from head to toe in black which weirdly enough suited him perfectly. He has a sharp jaw line with a straight nose and his lips were set in a grim line. He was my type of guys and I stared for too long and too hard that I was almost sure I messed what Elias was saying next.
" huh?"
He squinted at me " I said that's Jackson. Leah's latest boyfriend." he paused looking unsure. " that I knew of." then he pointed at a huge group of guys and girls dancing on the makeshift dance floor " and Right there in the middle of the group, the girl with the gold dress. That's Tessa. " I gazed at the middle of the group at the girl with the golden dress and I swear I almost wolf whistled. The girl was gorgeous. Her hair is slicked back in a tight ponytail with loose strands of hair falling at the side of her head due to dancing. She wore a beautiful dress that brought out her curves and her eyes were the biggest I've ever seen adding a touch of innocence to her character that I wasn't really sure she possessed.
" that's Leah's best friend"
I gave a low whistle. " well, your sister knew how to pick her crowd."
He smiled "yeah, worked for so far, too."
" dude, seriously, stop saying that. Let's go talk to them." I had a smile on my face, though.
He laughed taking a sip from his can and nodded his head " Alright, how do you want to do this? "
