Su Wang and her husband sat in the kitchen eating sliced fruits. Only the light over the kitchen counter was turned on and together with the silence it gave a very late night feel.
"So what do you think?" Su Wang asked, as her fingers scratched lightly on the cup of tea she held in her hands.
"About what?" Her clueless husband asked as he casually chomped down on a piece of water melon.
"About Luhan'er and Xi'er of course, dummy." She said and knocked the tea cup in her hands onto the table.
"I think they're good, very good." Her husband said and smiled.
Su Wang nodded in agreement. She almost felt like Lin Yun Xi was too good for her son but at the same time she felt the girl was special in ways that might make her and her son's future difficult and instead wanted to adopt her as her daughter. Which was a foreign thought for her who had always felt there was no girl in this world who deserved her precious son.
"So when should we have the wedding?" Her husband asked and forked another piece of water melon.
Su Wang snorted. "What are you saying? They've barely got to know each other." Then she turned a little more serious before she said, "Also I feel like there's something special about Xi'er. She isn't like other girls. I'm worried."
Mo Lian grasped her hand and squeezed it. "What are you worrying about? Don't you trust our son?"
"Of course I do. It's just that..." There were so many thoughts and concerns tumbling around inside her head which she couldn't express.
"Don't worry about it. I'll contact her father and see what he thinks about it." Her husband said and squeezed her hand again.
"En." Su Wang nodded and smiled. Her husband was often a big dummy, but he could always calm down her worries.
About an hour later, Mo Luhan woke up Lin Yun Xi. Then he picked up his little sister and carried her upstairs to her room and tucked her into her bed. He gave her a kiss goodnight before he switched off the light and closed the door, but left a small gap.
Then he turned toward Lin Yun Xi and put his hands on her head and gently caressed her hair. "It's getting late. I should drive you home."
Lin Yun Xi nodded.
The two of them went to the kitchen and said good night to his parents before Mo Luhan drove her home.
This time as they pulled over at the Lin Mansion, Lin Yun Xi didn't immediately get out of the car. Instead, Mo Luhan held her hand and caressed it gently. He didn't want to leave her, and neither did she seem to want to leave him. So they ended up sitting in the car for an hour in complete silence.
Mo Luhan turned his head and looked at Lin Yun Xi's pretty face. Her eyelashes seemed especially thick and beautiful tonight and her eyes seemed to reflect everything so clearly. "Will I see you tomorrow?" Mo Luhan asked.
Lin Yun Xi smiled and bashfully nodded.
Then he suddenly leaned over and kissed her cheek. "Good night." His voice was gentle and carried a warmth that went straight toward the heart.
Lin Yun Xi's consciousness became like an octupus focusing all its attention toward the place on her cheek where he had kissed her. Millions of skin cells were tingling and grew hot and moist. Her heart went badump and her breathing quickened as her face flushed with colors of innocent reds.
Mo Luhan looked at her face which suddenly turned blank and flushed and he became a little worried he'd done something wrong. He assumed that since she kissed his cheek the day before, she would be okay with it. But now he wasn't so sure anymore. "Are you okay?" He asked, furrowing his brow.
Lin Yun Xi stiffly nodded and then she said, "I'll get used to it."
Hearing that, Mo Luhan furrowed his brows even more and asked, "Is it unpleasant? Should I not kiss you anymore?"
Lin Yun Xi shook her head. "It feels really good." Then her face flushed really red, she couldn't believe what she just said and quickly opened the door and escaped into her house.
Seeing her escape after what she said, Mo Luhan chuckled and let out a breath of relief. He was really worried for a while.
Back inside the Lin Mansion. A similar scene played out as the one the day before and once again her father saw her standing in the hallway clutching at her heart, out of breath, and her face red as a tomato.
She's growing up. She's growing up way too fast. If this continued he was seriously questioning whether he should become an alcoholic. Who could understand the heartache of watching his precious daughter growing up? How was it any different than a bird mother seeing their newly hatched chick fall out of the bird nest and not know whether their wings would bear them or they'd fall to the ground for a quick death or be pounced by predators and eaten up. The heartache, oh the heartache. He lamented as he walked into the kitchen.
In the kitchen he prepared some tea and then called out, "Are you going to daydream out there all night?"
Lin Yun Xi suddenly woke up from her reverie and then walked into the kitchen to find her father sitting by the kitchen bar. "I'm back." She said quietly and then took a stool and sat down next to him.
"How was it? Did they treat you nicely?" Her father asked.
Lin Yun Xi nodded as she held a cup of tea to her mouth.
"Do you like him?" Her father suddenly asked.
Lin Yun Xi's cheeks blushed behind the cup she was still drinking from.
Her father scoffed at seeing her blushing face.
