Mo Luhan brought her over to his seat and had her sit down next him. He was very gentlemanly as he pulled out a chair for her and then gently pushed it back in once she sat down. He then reached for a glass of water and handed it to her.
Su Wang looked at the quiet girl as she tried to figure out what to say. The girl before her seemed quiet and shy but she was very pretty. Too bad she was wearing a hoodie so that she couldn't get a complete impression, but just as she was thinking this, she saw her son gently pull down the hoodie exposing the girl's long black hair which glimmered in the sunlight coming from the windows. She was quiet taken aback. The girl was seriously pretty and her quiet and shy nature hit all her heartstrings. Now, if only her family background was good she'd shout amitābha and immediately accept her as her daughter-in-law.
Su Wang cleared her throat and adjusted her attitude as she asked with a warm smile, "Little girl, what's your name?"
Lin Jun Xi heard her question through the noise and moved the glass away from her lips. "I'm Lin Jun Xi."
Su Wang's warm smile grew wider as she ran through all the family names she knew and remembered there was a Lin family who'd just returned back from living overseas. That Lin family had a similar status and wealth as their own family. "Oh, are you from the Lin family who just returned from overseas. Your father's name is Lin Yuan?"
Lin Jun Xi nodded. "Yes, father's name is Lin Yuan."
Fireworks were exploding inside Su Wang's mind as she looked over at her son with a very pleased smile. Then she said, "I'm so rude, this setting is too impersonal." She then rose up from her seat and went over and sat down next to Lin Jun Xi and immediately grasped her hand and held it tenderly. "Finally, my useless son has done something good. You're so pretty." She said and squeezed her hand and stroked her hair acting very intimately as if she'd just found her estranged daughter.
Lin Jun Xi bit her lower lip while her whole body tensed up from the woman's touches. But she bared through it.
Mo Luhan coughed loudly a few times, trying to get his mother attention. But the woman only threw him an annoyed glance as if he was distracting her happy "reunion". In the end he could only sigh and stab a piece of meat and shove it into his mouth.
When Lin Jun Xi heard him chewing through all the noise her stomach growled loudly.
Su Wang giggled happily. "Oh, you must be hungry. Here, let me help you." Then she began to cut the beef into small slices. Once she was done she handed the fork and knife to Lin Jun Xi.
Lin Jun Xi stared at the plate with sliced beef. Her mind had already left the room and was back at home, five years ago and her beautiful mother had just cut a slice of beef for her. If a normal person had had this experience, they would've truly felt like they went back in time and everything was real, they would've been able to smell the meaty smell of the beef and the wonderful smell of flowers coming from her mother. To Lin Yun Xi her past was not much different then her present. With her mind back in the past her present body began to react on its own as tears began to well up and fall down on her cheeks.
Su Wang was shocked, seeing the girl who seemed lost in thought suddenly tear up. "What happened? Did I do something wrong?" She asked, voice full of love and concern.
Lin Jun Xi's mind which had just been brought back to the present, felt something wet on her cheeks. She reached up and felt the moist tear drops. She had cried? When she heard the woman's question, she shook her head then said, "I was just thinking of mom."
Su Wang furrowed her brows. Had something happened to the girl's mother? She didn't know that much about the Lin family as they had lived overseas and stayed out of the rich family wives gossip. She wanted to ask about the girl's mother but was afraid to touch a sensitive subject, when the girl suddenly said something again.
"Mom died 2 years, 226 days, 1021 minutes ago. She can no longer visit Xi'er."
This statement caused both Su Wang and Mo Luhan to raise their brows in surprise. Such a strange thing to say. And it was the first time both of them realized there was something special about this girl, but it was just a quick thought that flashed by for a moment. They still only perceived her as a shy and quiet girl.
The room quieted down as the mood was filled with awkwardness. Nobody knew what to say or do to continue the conversation when Mo Luhan quietly muttered, "Mom."
It was a simple statement but Su Wang immediately knew what her son ment and awkwardly said, "Hah, look at the time. I bet you two lovebirds wants some alone time. Lin Yun Xi, it was a pleasure to meet you. I hope we can meet again, soon." She grasped the girl's both hands and smiled warmly. Then she stood up and grabbed her handbag and nodded approvingly toward her son with a warm smile before she walked out of the room.
Silence once again filled the room.
Lin Jun Xi wasn't bothered at all by everything that had transpired and the sudden silence, to her it was just one less source of noise to her mind. She just quietly continued eating.
Meanwhile, Mo Luhan sat leisurely next to her, his attractive eyes gently gazing at her while she ate, seemingly lost in thought.
Pling.
Mo Luhan looked down on his phone. "Young Master, your car has been repaired and is parked outside." Then he glanced at the girl who was still eating before he stood up and walked toward the exit. The bill for the dinner had already been paid by his mother and as for the girl, he assumed she had just walked into the wrong room and would find her way on her own. He only felt slight reluctance to leave her, but shook that feeling off.
