Chapter 16
Title: Lily vs Aigror...
….
After Alex gives her the instructions, Lily moves along the shadows in the rooftops of Gunagai City. She has different thoughts moving along her head.
She knows that Alex is someone beyond dangerous. She can't even tell when he is lying. It's like he is telling the truth while lying.
She can use her senses to tell if he is lying, like hearing his heartbeat. But she hasn't been able to tell anything from it, his heartbeat is always calm and moves in a very rhythmic manner. Even Lily is a little weirded out at how his heart moves, even when he seems shocked or angry his heart is always on the same rhythmic beat.
But that isn't the weirdest thing about Alex… Lily always could instinctively be able to tell just how dangerous someone was. Recently it felt as if Alex is becoming more dangerous every day.
She can't help but be intrigued by him, wondering what other secrets he is hiding.
But her mind comes to a halt in thinking about Alex as she comes to her target's location. It's just another dwarfs Magic Item Store, there are dozens of dwarfs working in the item creation industry, their race is known for it.
Lily sees the shop and analyzes every entrance, exit, and possible weak points. She tries to memorize every single one of these details. She is a thief so this is standard for her and with her countless perks & talents which give her definitive advance against any opposition. Especially in the darkness...
….
In the end, after half an hour of observation, Lily decides that entering through the chimney would be the best route to take.
She goes to the old roof of Aigror The Dwarf. She makes no noise as her movements are as nimble as a cat. As she slides down the chimney she also makes no noise and like a cat, she jumps off from the fireplace.
But as soon as she does so she can feel the wind flutter on the back of her head and with an instinctual movement she pulls out the Blood Sacrificial Dagger.
Clank!
She can feel a tremendous force hit her and due to blocking it, she wasn't hit directly. But she allows herself to be pushed away by the hit to her red dagger. It pushed her away and it lessened the impact that she would have gotten if she took it head-on. Due to the attacker's high strength, Lily is pushed quite far away and is almost about to be slammed into a wall.
But she also has quite the high agility, so she can easily position herself midair and she lands with her legs on the wall. Taking zero damage, she also sees that her attacker is a dwarf who has a hammer that suddenly shines with runes around it and it catches fire. The fire doesn't seem to bother the dwarf at all.
Aigror, who is still about Lily's height because as a dwarf he is naturally small. He has a frown on his old face, his metal shark-like teeth clang against each other as he asks. "Did that brat send you?"
"Don't know what you are talking about little man." Answers Lily as she uses the wall as a foothold to push herself forward and attack. The dwarf smiles as he hears Lily say that.
"Tell the brat that he definitely shouldn't start throwing around names like Camilla and such. I guess you can tell him in the next life." says the dwarf as he and Lily clash weapons again.
Clang!
But as they clash weapons again, Lily uses her superior agility to slip under the dwarf's guard, and immediately she goes for his throat. Though the old dwarf's body seemed exposed, and he is wearing a normal white shirt and brown pants.
But as the knife was about to touch the dwarf's throat.
Bang!
It is stoped by a translucent blue barrier that appears around the dwarf. "Bad move little child."
Even as he says that he moves his arm to get a hold of Lily. But the future hero isn't that slow as she simply swipes her leg and slightly disorients the dwarf, nothing too big. But still just enough for her to split away.
The dwarf smiles at that, showing his jagged metal teeth. "Seems like I have gotten a little rusty during the last hundred years."
Lily frowns at this slightly, but to the dwarf, it was as visible as day. This is what he wanted from the inexperienced Lily. His experience in combat easily trumps hers, he has learned that one can use his mouth to give himself an advantage and he has already gotten plenty of information from Lily.
He already knows that she is working for the brat which asked for the dragon horn. So indirectly, the dwarf knows what her goal is. Also, he has learned that Lily's and the other kid's relationship seems strange and not yet complete.
The dwarf in itself is not a warrior at all. He is a close-range mana user, which is almost always a bad class for close range. Mana dominates in item creation and long-range, KI dominates in close-range.
Still, if Aigror had access to the status page he would see that he was level 10 and that his classes were, Dwarf Enchanter and Dwarf Rune Magician, both of which are more concentrated in Item Making. But Lily is still only level 5, so no matter how weak the over one-year-old dwarf shouldn't have a hard time against her. But due to Lily's countless Perks that support her class.
Clang!
That is why that every time that they clash the dwarf is the one at a disadvantage as Lily adjusts her body and attacks more lethally with every confrontation that goes on.
'Damn… she is getting better as we fight along. What a monstrously talented little girl.' while Aigror contemplates that he still has a calm look on his face. He is an old man who has lived beyond a century, being afraid of death to someone like him is like a joke. He has been waiting to die in his shop all alone, after all, his son and wife already died a hundred years ago. He doesn't have a reason to live, but at the same time, he also has his pride and won't die without a fight.
This is when Lily notices a slight hesitation in the old dwarf's steps and that is when she goes for an attack that would go through the translucent barrier as she puts all of her weight and goes to stab the dwarf in the eye. The barrier had gotten dimmer so she can rightfully assume that it must have gotten weaker.
'Either way even if it's a trap I can dodge.' Calculates Lily, as she goes for the attack.
Fwosh!
But suddenly before she could do anything a huge serpent made out of blood comes from under the floor and surrounds the dwarf as the old man got ready to try and hit Lily. Suddenly the red serpent shines a bright angry red and Lily can instinctively sense the danger from it, but at the same time, a tendril of blood appears and wraps around her waist pulling her back, and…
BOOOOM!
The Blood Serpent surrounding the dwarf is dead, and as the dust clears out Lily sees Alex come into the room she was fighting on from the door behind her. Alex immediately conjures a couple more miniature snakes made of blood that go at the dwarf's now mangled corpse and…
Booom!
Booom!
They explode as they made contact with it. Lily looks at Alex with a slight frown on her face.
He on the other hand seemed unconcerned about it as he shrugs his shoulders and says. "Just making sure in case he was faking it, anyway we need to quickly get away from here or we will soon be captured by the guards."
