Before you where thrown on the streets by your 'beloved' parents, you used to live in a big mansion, your parents are rich the own so much other houses and even farms, and had enough money to buy every single thing you could wish for.
They were what other children would call perfect parents, there where even nice to you. But they did throw you away. You can't see a 'nice' thing in that gesture.
You don't know why they hated you enough to throw you away. You where what most parents would call the perfect child.
You mastered everything they gave you, whether it be musical instruments or even a subject like math without the help of a tutor or anybody. You learned it yourself. There isn't a single test that you lost even half a mark in. You where well-mannered and never caused any embarrassment to them yet they woke you at night and brought you to the part of town where most orphans lived on the streets and told you to wait for them there.
You understood immediately what was happening and since that day they never even once came. You don't know why you had hope. Secretly, deep inside your heart you believed they would come, and your mother would cry and she and your dad would hug you telling you that they were sorry. Life isn't always so good.
You let out a sigh realizing that you were again spacing out in the middle of your work. This was the last room you need to clean and your work would be done for the day. You hum a random tune that come to your lips and your hands would sway from side to side as your hands lead the broom to swipe the floor.
A beautiful melody suddenly played making you stop swiping in attempt to take in its refined tunes. A piano. A piano and a skilful player. In all those years you spent here you haven't heard such a melody. This piece felt like it wasn't made for the ears but for the heart. Your ear desired it but your heart ate it up.
It sounds sad at first but once you listen in, you can hear beautiful happy melody. Hope? For a second, it feels so sad but sounds so happy, then next moment it sounds so sad but feels so happy. It made you feel something strange in your heart. You just can't describe it. Not even to your own brain. You could not comprehend it.
Not even aware that you had just followed the sound, you spot the door which your ears could till the piano was behind. The door was slightly open. You tiptoe towards the door and peak in with your head.
Slender long fingers danced gracefully upon the piano, your eyes travel up. The familiar reddish-brown hair swayed from side to side his head danced along with his fingers. Laito seems not to notice you even with his supper human abilities. He's too into his playing. You take a step towards him and the playing suddenly stops and Laito turns to meet with your shocked expression.
"Oh~! Hey (Name)-chan~!" Laito beamed at you and moved to the side of the piano giving you some place to sit. Something sparkled on his cheeks. A teardrop?
Your expression softens, "Are you crying?" Laito whips away his tear and looks back at you with a smile.
You glance at him seeing him offer to sit, features still held bewilderment, "That was beautiful, Laito-sama." This song actually made Laito cry. You can't believe this.
Laito smirks, he takes hold of your chin and caresses it with his thumb, "So (Name)-chan was listening in on me~"
"How could I not? That was the most beautiful melody I have ever heard in my whole entire life." Send him a smile. Taking aback he lets go off your chin. The same melody from the song stick in your head and you played it on the piano. Laito watched your slender fingers move in a similar fashion to him but you changed some of the sad parts to happy melody.
"You wrote it yourself? I don't know how anyone could write such a piece. It's almost...Heavenly."
Laito places his fingers on the piano, wrist hovering on top of it, "How can something I write be heavenly, (Name)-chan~?"
You saw were the vampire was going so you change the subject, "You're so sad but so happy, huh?"
"No, this is a song about love~, (Name)-chan." Laito pulls you closer and wraps his arm around you taking hold of you hand. He places his other hand on the piano and started to play as he leads your fingers to play the piece.
"What are you doing to (Name)?" an irritated voice spoke up. Subaru.
Subaru shows up on the side, "Laito, let go of (Name)."
"Aww, but I was having fun with (Name)-chan~! She loves the piano~!" Laito fakes a pout and continues to guide your fingers on the piano.
Suddenly a hand pulls you away and wraps around you protectively.
"Stop being so annoying!" Subaru tightens his grip on you and you flinch from the pain and close your eyes. Subaru realizing that he hurt you loosens his grip on you teleports away with you.
"I-I'm sorry... (Name)! If he's annoying, you just text me and I'll come." Subaru looks away, a tiny blush imprinted on his cheeks.
You flash him a smile, "Alright." He looks at you,
"You'll teach me the piano, next time." He orders then disappears into thin air. You smile. Subaru's so weird but he's still sweet and kind.
