Chapter 14 - CHAPTER FOURTEEN- Let sleeping dogs lie [Warning]

"From today on- 'Eric Jiseok is back to the CEO's post and will be handling the matters of Jiseok's business with the Park co-operation.' These were my father's words." Jun continued. In front of the whole company. All of the members present there bowed to Eric.

"Welcome Back Sir!" But deep down he knew he wasn't welcomed here at all. People considered him the weakness of the company.

Besides being given the biggest work of all times the business with PARK CO-OPERATION! This was a gateway to justify Eric's incompetency for the people.

Eric couldn't think. He didn't know if he was ready for this. He was trying to process everything slowly. He had done many deeds (not mention worthy) in order to run away from the company. But no matter what, he would always return to the same old place. He wasn't satisfied with anything that his father offered him. He wanted something more. He wanted freedom. But he was afraid. Of his father. Of the real world he hadn't truly seen.

Days past by. At the speed of a snail...

The Jiseok Company got the busiest they'd ever been. There was no time to breathe. But in the midst of this chaos Eric would dig into his pocket every now and then and remove the little ring Lia left behind. Lia's whereabouts were still a mystery. Everything about her was. Slowly Eric got used to her absence.

Lia was never a part of his life neither was Eric her. They were but mere strangers who crossed paths. That's all.

6 MONTHS LATER

"Honey!!" A voice hummed. "Where are you Honey?!"

"It's 7 in the morning could you please stop yelling in other people's houses?" There he was, Eric in his silky blue pyjamas sitting comfortably on the couch watching Takeshi's Castle.....

....

...

yes you heard it right

(when rich people do normal things it's often questionable)

"And stop calling me Honey" he yelled.

The young woman frowned at him. She was standing right in front of him, blocking the view of the Chinese woman who just lost the game by falling head straight into the water, a face splash. Clearly interrupting Eric's 'me' time and one of the funniest moments of the show...

She had sparkling eyes, straight silky hair up to her shoulder, wore a long below knee length baby pink colored dress with this dainty makeup and pearl earrings, it looked appealing on her. But who in their right mind dresses up so well at 7 IN THE MORNING?

" Ahhhh...You're so mean. I came to see my beloved after such a long time." she complained.

"Should've been away longer" he sighed.

"Eric! She's your future sister-in law don't be so mean to her-." Jun arrived at the hall, it appeared like he had been somewhere outside seeing how he was dressed in formal, he barged in their conversation.

"It's alright he's still just a little child"

"Jisoo don't worry about him. Go on inside Mom must be awake.I'll tell the maids to send breakfast to you."

"Okay honey!"

"Eric! What's wrong with you?" Jun called out.

"She's a guest, plus sooner she will become a member of this house and my wife. Did dad not warn you to be nice to her?"

"Bro! Do you really think I care?" Eric got up from the sofa and walked away.

"This spoiled kid!"

'Song Jisoo. The only daughter of the Song family, the family that runs a shipping business, owns almost all of the ports near Korea. It might sound something trivial but in the business industry these people are very well respected, Although it can't be said that they aren't corrupt. All of the imports and exports are handled by them. Which means all of the business men are friendly with these people in order to get their business run down smoothly. Obviously they are wealthy in terms of money and connections because they trade illegal objects to other countries, and anything illegal means it guarantees your business more money and connections.. well black money considering the risk of it. But the Song family and Jiseok families had always been close. Until a conflict that we know nothing of happened a few years ago, they both went on bad terms, Dad always wanted to end this conflict. And seeing the fact that Ms. Jisoo was interested in me, Dad put forth this proposal to end all the disputes, and strengthen the business relationships. A very classic move in the world of rich people. Eric has to act very carefully or his actions might affect the company. And the interest of Ms. Jisoo towards me.

.....

Another day went by. The Jiseok office was hustling, Eric and Jun were present in their fathers office. It was an important personal meeting.

Mr. Han Jiseok in his weirdly scary and stern poise was seated on the chair and told the two brothers to take a seat.

"As you know, we have been close to the King of Thailand since ages, they have always relied on us and this year for the Kings daughters birthday the King has planned a huge royal gathering where we are invited as guests" he continued pointing a finger at an assistant present in the office he said " He will give you all the further details, start preparing, this is a very important occasion for the company and its future we need to stand up to the expectations of the King."

A royal banquet was about to take place, this meant absolute chaos and tension, Jiseok family was about to barge out every ounce of dollar to spend just to prepare for this. It is an occasion that deserves all its grandeur, but did Eric have the social capabilities that this event demanded? It might mean a gem of a chance for Eric to prove himself and since it's the first event he'd appear publicly and officially as the CEO of THE JISEOK COMPANY.

This was a time to wake up for those who were sleeping, for those we were comfortably throwing their lives away. But would this be something easily attainable? The idea of being at the place alone would send shivers down one's spine. Maybe it's better to avoid? It's better to lay low. What are truths that would haunt him down this lane? Rich and power hungry people are scary in themselves, entering the territory of the monarchs and the bloodlines of the royals... what does it mean? For Jiseok... for him? For the future?
