Pryers POV
__________________________________________________________________________________
Everyday my dad gets angrier and angrier by the minute, while I'm getting guiltier by the day. I never tell my dad how I feel or anything, I don't even bother trying to get him to understand me. And I never tell Devie either. I don't want her to worry or anything.
So when I know dad will be angry I avoid him. I don't speak and I don't get in his way. Mom seems to be doing worse. She tries to hide, but I know what he's doing to her.
He's beating her.
Because she's defending me.
None of my friends know about my dad, except River. I did the stupid thing and take him to my house for a sleepover when I was in 8th grade. Dad got mad, when I asked my mom about it and not him. It was the first time anyone's ever seen me get hurt by my dad. Then the second time was Devie. I hated that she saw me like that, and I couldn't even say it to her face that it bothered me.
I can't tell her yet.
Not yet.
Devanie's POV

"Devie~"
I immediately knew whose voice that was, but before I could turn to face Pryer he wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin on my shoulder." I missed you Devie." He said oh do sweetly. I could feel his breath hit my neck as he spoke.
"Don't you have class right now?" I said as I continued to put my textbooks back into my locker. "It can wait." He said and I rolled my eyes. "You might not have to go to class, but I do." I sighed and shut my locker. I started walking down the hallway and slipping out of his grip.
"I can wait for you after class." He said as he swung his arm over my shoulder and walked with me down the hallway. I have 1st period with River and Voya. When we arrived to the classroom, everyone's attention was on Pryer and I. After all I technically was 'Pryer's next victim'.
"Yo Pryer! How does she taste? Like chocolate?"
"My man has some flavour!"
"Pryer Marry me!"
"Pryer you got HIV yet?"
I walked into the classroom and ignored everyone who yelling out at Pryer. I went to sit behind Voya and beside River. "Pryer baby!" River yelled and Pryer flipped him off before leaving the classroom. River quickly flipped him back before he left.
"Did you see her?"
"That's what Pryer's into?"
"She's so--dark."
"Yeah you guys are so annoying, but we can't do anything about that either now can we?" River said and the girls turned their heads away. River rolled his while I ignored them and looked out the classroom window.
I am pathetic.
I couldn't even defend myself. It just goes to show that I still care about other people's opinions about me no matter how many times people tell me not too. "Don't worry about them Devanie." River said and I smiled warmly at him. He immediately turned away from my face while I sat confused.
When class ended I went into the hallway expecting to see Pryer's face, but he was nowhere in my sight of vision."Didn't Pryer say he was going to pick you up?" Voya asked looking around with a pouty face. Her short pink hair was wavy and pushed back on its side with color pastel hair pins.
"No but I've come to pick you up." Fia had appeared out of nowhere with his dark orange hair styled measly on his head. He slid his arm onto Voya's shoulder and she immediately looked flustered.
"Wow way to ruin the fun." River said and Fia rolled his eyes. "Fia w-what are you doing here?" Voya said as she avoided eye contact with Fia."I came here for you, now let's go." Fia grabbed Voya and dragged her towards the front of the entrance of the school.
"I'm gonna go look for Pryer." I said as I turned down an empty hallway. Most of the classrooms were empty so I decided to check the very last one at the end of the hallway.
I walked in and I was met with a scene I did not like.
Aurora was in the process of taking off her shirt and Pryers hands were placed right below her shoulder. He turned to look at me and his face only showed shock. Aurora turned to me and smiled.
"Devie--"
Before he could say anything I turned and left, I could hear Aurora's faint laughs as I walked away. I heard Pryer start to call my name out more, but that only made me pick up my pace.
He said I was the only one occupying his time.
I can't believe I fell for that.
