Chapter 81 - Chapter*One:Afro-girl

Devanie's POV

____________________________________________________

Kani got married to Jason.

Safari's been married.

And I'm starting my last year of high school.

Its weird that it's been so long since Kani's dramatic fairy tale. I was a jumpy 9 year old watching the whole event unfold on live television. My mom probably had the biggest mental breakdown of her life watching every ticking second of the Queen's movement.

After that Kani went to college and immediately got married to Jason right after she graduated college. She's lucky that she gets to live in a palace with her family and her son. That's still unimaginable. Kani gave birth to a baby boy about four years ago. Preston became my first and definitely not my last nephew. Preston looked just like Jason, and the resemblance was kinda scary. They were like walking replica's of each other.

"I really don't want to go, and it's a new school! This is ridiculous why did we have to move? " I complained to Kani, well not to Kani directly. I was facetiming her from my laptop, she was holding a super squirmy Preston who did not like the idea of talking to people through a screen.

I thought he would enjoy stuff like this.

"Well I guess your situation is also my situation. You guys had to move houses three times, because the paparazzi kept finding your location. No matter how many times Jason spoke out about the issue they still followed you all around like puppets on a string." Kani expressed angrily.

I think out of all of us, Kani grew the most, even more than dad and mom.

Falling in love with a prince, getting married to a prince, and moving into the palace with a prince has really changed her.

She has become a lot more mature since then.

"It is partially my fault. Westwood is a really small town so maybe no one will recognize me. Mom's tired of moving so much." I said as I stared at the expensive jewelry that hung right around her neck. "Well, I'm gonna have to call you tomorrow. The Queens planning a dinner party and I get to meet even more royal families with Jason's other enormous batch of cousins." Kani sighed with an exhausted tone.

"I need to take C.G out for a walk anyway. I can't believe he's still alive, now he's old and barely moves. It hard to tell whether he's still alive or not when he's asleep." I said in a sad tone.

"I hope he won't pass away before you find you find a lover, anyway it's about time. Preston say goodbye to Aunt De." Kani said as she glanced away from the screen. Shortly Preston popped his little head into the screen waving at me. "Bye Aunt De!" He hollered before running away.

I closed my laptop and flopped down on my bed. I stared at my ceiling that had my hand painted sunflowers on it.

A lover?

There was a soft knock on my door before it opened. Samantha beamed at me as she kept her hand on her stomach. Fryday and Samantha got married four years ago even though they've been together since high school. Fryday might not be related to us, but he's still a major part of our family. In a way my life, and even Safari's life, would have a giant gap if it weren't for his sarcastic attitude.

"I heard your starting a new school tomorrow. How do you feel? " Samantha expressed as she sat next to me on my yellow bed. "I don't know if I should feel excited or worried. There's a lot to look forward to and there's a lot to be worried about. I just don't want to mess up my last year." I explained to her.

"Why not be both? There isn't a law or rule that says you can't. I say let loose, find love, and have fun. It's your last year before college your practically an adult now according to law. Besides I think you deserve to have some weight off your shoulders too. " She grinned brightly at me. "What about you? Are you going to live with us for a while longer?" I asked as I sat up in my spot. My floppy Afro has probably been squashed from laying down for so long.

I have never once changed my hair style. It's been in an Afro for as long as I can remember. It's definitely gotten longer and curlier over the years.

"Well, Fryday and I aren't doing so well financially. He just got fired from his last job, he got framed for stealing. Even though the police denied it he still got fired. They said they didn't want a mistake to happen, but I know why they really fired him. It's because he grew up with a black family. They were afraid that he was 'influenced'. I told him to take this to court, but he just smiled at me and said everything will be fine. I'm worried." Samantha's brown eyes held worry as she rubbed her growing stomach.

"That's so ridiculous. They're racist!" I yelled and Samantha just shook her head. "I know, but there's nothing we can do about it. Not anymore at least. We're staying here until Fryday can get back on his feet. I even insisted on finding a job to help us, but he didn't want me to stress, he wanted me to rest and make sure the baby is healthy. Sometimes he can be way to selfless."

"Samantha--"

"Anyway you should get some rest, having bags under your eyes is a sign of weakness, so you must get lots of sleep." Samantha spoke quickly before getting off the bed."I'll take C.G for a walk. I need the exercise anyway." She waved goodbye and immediately left the room. I stared at my closed laptop and I suddenly remembered what Kani said.

When do I find my a lover?

Do they even have lover's for people who are this ugly?

I stood in front of my mirror one more time. I wore rip jeans with a dark blue sweater and black converse. I looked at my desk that had a yellow sunflower on it. I stuck the sunflower in my shoe. I headed downstairs to see my parents and Samantha sitting at the dinning table.

"Where's Fryday?" I asked as I entered the room. "He's out." I turned toward Samantha who had a glimmering smile on her face. I grinned at her and grabbed a pancake, before leaving the house. I walked down the empty side walk while carrying an art canvas and a bag of paint brushes.

I wanted to donate to the art classroom. I figured this school does not take art seriously and that they just have this classroom, because other schools have it.

"Watch out!"

Suddenly a distant voice came my way. As soon as I turned around I was shoved to the ground by a bunch of boys. The canvas and paintbrushes I was holding had been broken. Every single paint brush was snapped in half along with the canvas. I stared at the ground in shock. I looked up to the group of boys to see there faces, but they were already too far away.

I spotted the boy in the very front he had a dark red hoodie and black jeans.

Him.

My donation was ruined and it was all his fault. For now at least, he was the first one I saw. I got off the ground and I noticed that the sunflower I stuck in my shoe had been squashed flat. He basically killed a living creature. He is so dead.

I proceeded to walk to school with only my backpack with no paint brushes or canvas. Once I entered the school the hallways were super busy and I immediately felt out of place with my floppy curly Afro. I kept getting stares, but I just tried to think about that they were staring at my height.

I'm 18 and 5'2 and a 1/2. Despite my sister's being 5'5-5'6.

Life sure does love me.

I walked up to the front desk to grab my schedule when I was abruptly shoved out of line. I looked up to see a a boy who was about 6 foot. He wore a red hoodie and black jeans. He had short jet black curly hair that was shaved on the sides. Some of his hair hung in his face and his brown eyes were amazing. How could I be so close to him to notice his features like this?

Wait a second this is the same guy I just had seen earlier."Hey, White boy you cut my spot." I said as I stepped back to clearly see his face. The white boy part wasn't really needed, but like six other people were wearing the same thing he was.

He looked down at me and smirked.

Smirked?

"Aw, are you lost?" He grinned as he bent down to my eye level."No I'm not lost, but did you know that when you and your herd of animals broke my canvas and brushes earlier?" I snapped at him. "Was that you? It's your fault that you were in my way." I know I shouldn't have, but I slapped him. "She just slapped me." He said as he touched the red spot on his face, I just noticed how pale he was.

"I can do it again if you want? I just need to let you know that the things you broke cost 30$. You owe me 30$." I became irritated as I crossed my arms over my chest. "You're an interesting one aren't you?" He smirked again and glanced behind him to laugh with his friends.

"Fine, I'll give you the 30$ if you don't fall in love with me by the end of this week." He expressed with another smirk on his face. His friends behind him laughed as the all looked at me. "Fall in love with you? Are you okay? I just need 30$ not a love quest." I said as I chuckled in disbelief at him.

His face grew agitated. "Look I'm obviously the hottest guy here and you clearly don't know anything about this school. So falling in love with me may seem out of this world to you, but the other girls I've been with say otherwise." He looked at me with challenging eyes as he crouched down to my height again. "So do we have a deal Afro-girl?"

"You have yourself a deal curly fries."

This boy is ridiculous. He possibly can't even get one girl with that cocky attitude of his.

And he must be crazy to think that I'll fall for him in under one week.

I don't even know his name.
