Chapter 1 - Part One

MEIKA

Hmmm, have I done something wrong these days? Yeah, doubt it. I have been a good girl these past few days, and yet this boyfriend of mine seems to think the opposite.

"I'm breaking up with you" he says, looking into my eyes as if what he's speaking of right now is making me give a damn. I just stood there silently waiting for the next nonsense he'll allow to flow out of his mouth. And as soon as he knew that I won't be saying a word, he gritted his teeth. "Stop acting all innocent now" he says again, looking down, his fist balling into a tight ball. I am the one acting innocent? I immediately furrowed my eyebrows as if I hadn't seen this coming. "You cheated on me" he said, what kind of drama is this? "With who?" I ask back, my voice cracking and I let the tears flow like I really felt sad about what he's trying to say. "And I don't love you anymore" I almost fell down the cold cemented floor as I tried to stop myself from laughing. He looked like he really felt guilty for doing this to me, as if he isn't lying at all. He even ignored my question and acted as if he didn't hear my sobs at all.

"I have found another that will treat me better," bitch, how lucky. I just continued my act of crying as I look down and looked all sad. "I, I'm sorry" is all he said before I started stepping away and turning the corner, running like some idiot.

As soon as I was about to fully leave the corner I stayed and laid my back at the wall, waiting for anything else to happen. "You did it Yuka-kun!" A girl exclaimed as I heard the boy chuckle. "I never loved her anyway, that stinking bitch" even though, he's the one who came begging my Mother and Brothers to be my boyfriend to show me off to his friends. How amusingly stupid. I let out a disgusted stare as if he'll actually see and started to walk away. I don't even know the purpose of relationships anymore.

I sigh, in a few more days, Mother will probably assign a blind date again. Well, not like that's something new, right? I just walked around the school, thinking of what my brothers made for dinner. I went in the School and in my classroom to get my stuff. And as soon as I was about to leave, I looked up at the window and saw the beautiful sky. There's not much students left, since it was past the last period. But FR is still open and free until 8 in the evening, for club activities and such, but since I have no club and nothing to do, and the sky seems beautiful and it's only 6, why not go up the rarely open rooftop?

With a light smile I turned around to climb the staircase and reach the door to my destination. It has been a while since I went to the School Rooftop.

The orange painted like sky, came into view, as I walked to one of the benches there, yup, our School Rooftop got a ton of benches here, and even some plants. With a sigh, I placed my bag down on my lap, and let my eyes close as I feel the wind gush and bring shivers down my spine. Ah, this place is as nice as always.

As I was just about to almost go to dream land, the door suddenly opened and I heard two people's steps. I didn't really bother to leave the place since they really wouldn't see me, since a few plants are in the way.

"Kei-kun, I just wanted you to know that, I don't love you anymore" my eyes immediately opened at this and I almost felt like I was choking on plain air. Well not like rejection isn't that common but it just caught me off guard. The girl's voice was plain out displaying her attitude, I bet she's one of those girls that tries their best to look good for others to get attention. And I bet that's how everyone else in this School thinks about me. Sad.

"Oh" is all the Kei guy said and the girl spoke again. "Yeah, I'm sorry, I had fun being with you for four months" she didn't sound sorry at all, it didn't even seem like she cares about how he feels, but the boy seemed to be the same. "Hm" is all he said, and I heard the doorknob get turned and the door get closed. I guess the girl had left then. Well that's one peaceful break up.

I just closed my eyes again, and held my bag tight.

"Hey, eavesdropping is a bit rude, don't you think?" I heard someone say, the voice was so close to my ear, that it felt like I was wearing earphones. My eyes quickly opened and I immediately scooted to the left side of the bench as I held my bag tight. My eyes immediately searching for the one that owned that voice. "Well, that's some speed, you got there" a small grin formed at the boy's face as he leaned on his forearms onthe bench. "I wasn't eavesdropping," I immediately responded to his first question with a raised brow, as I saw him, jump over the back of the bench and into the seat, sitting on the right, a good distance between us.

"Eh, then what were you doing, casually listening in on someone's declaration of rejection" He asked again as he leaned on the back of the bench, as I just eye him silently. So I guess he was the guy that got rejected minutes ago?

"Well, excuse me, I got here first" I know it sounded childish, but it was true. I got there first and it's not my fault that they started that conversation at the time when I was there.

"Pft-" he ended up laughing, I guess it really did sound childish? But isn't laughing too hard, a bit weird? He then stopped a few minutes later and looked at me, wiping a tear that had escaped from all the laughing with a smile still on his face.

"I guess, you're right, but didn't you get dumped earlier too?, I was buying some juice around the time, you had your rejection from the Yuka, guy" he then said and I felt like, he's trying to keep the conversation going.

"And so?" I asked as I remembered that we did have that conversation behind the school and there were a vending machine just around the corner. "Well, you seemed quite okay, considering how he had obviously been lying, or didn't you hear the girl that approached her when you turned the corner?" This guy had clearly been watching the scene like a movie, creepy.

"And you say that eavesdropping is bad" I say and he just scoffed and brushed his hair to the side. "I just wanted to drink something around that time, not like I wanted to hear your conversation as well"

"And yet you didn't take the opportunity to turn around and shrug it off and continue to mind your own business?" I saw how he tilted his head to get a look at me, his eyes going dark for a split second. "I mean, how could I? When the girl that your ex dumped you for is my ex?"

.

.

.

So I guess that's why the voice seemed quite familiar, it scared me. Wow, can't believe Yuka is that low.

"Eh, well ain't that just nice?" I let out a sigh and he just chuckled a bit. "You don't feel saddened by this, ain't he your ex boyfriend, don't you like still love him?" He asked again.

"I never loved him to begin with, and what about you, shouldn't you be asking yourself that?" I asked back and he just shrugged. "It was obvious how she just wanted to date me to show me off to her buddies, since the beginning, and I knew that she didn't love me either, so, I guess, it's all ok?" He looked up as if wondering if what he said made sense, and I was like, how can our situations be so alike?

"Then why'd you date her, for four months too?" I asked again. "It seemed fun" okay, I guess our situations aren't that alike.

"What about you, you seem like you never loved him yourself"

"Mom's orders"

He let out an 'Oh' before standing up and giving me a smile as he suddenly started to walk infornt of me.

"Wanna come with me?" What's up with this guy? Do I look like I would just go with you, huh? We just met, like half an hour ago.

"Where?" I still asked as I look at his hand held out in front of me.

"The Arcade, the Mall, wherever you want" he shrugged and looked like he really don't care that much.

"I don't wanna go with a stranger like you" I then decided to voice out my earlier thougts, with furrowed eyebrows and irritated look.

"Stingy much?" He chuckled and pulled me up, his big hand holding my small wrist with such strength that clearly says I won't let go, but it didn't really hurt.

"It'll be my treat, and I really am quite curious about you" he started to walk out the rooftop and drag me out the School. "Aren't you curious about me too?" He let out a grin as he looked back at me and I just cracked a sheepish smile.

"Whatever, you'll buy anything I want anyway" he then squeezed my wrist and pulled me closer so that I can walk the same pace as him. "Indeed, I will" and I let out a cringed look, as I feel my heart pounding a bit as the warmth of his hand in my wrist get to me.

"Anything for a friend, right?"

"I don't even know your name" he lets out a light chuckle before looking at me again.

"It's Keiji, Mamuya Keiji, Meika-san"
