Margo Monteverde's Residence.
June 17th, the year 2018. Sunday.
Margo felt the heat in her arms from the sunlight as she opened her eyes. She grunted as her vision became blurry and she felt dizzy when she tried to raise her head a little. She closed her eyes again and faced sideways.
Margo panted, hearing the birds chirping on the balcony. The leaves rustled through the wind breeze of smiling daylight.
She held her neck as she sat up from her queen's bed. She glanced at the wall clock and saw that it was 30 minutes away before 8. She gazed at her clothes and saw that she was wearing a plain white shirt now and pajamas.
She felt drowsy and suddenly remembered what happened last night. She kissed someone, but she didn't remember his name. Margo touched her lips, and she was right. It was there in the Queen's Bar.
Something crossed her mind as she looked over the charcoal portrait on the wall beside the clock. She was drinking her head up on that bar because of Xian.
"Xian cheated on me," Margo mumbled, and that's when she recalled the whole situation.
...
"You have the guts to lift your chin up at me?!"
"Back at you, Margo. Don't make me the bad one here! Don't turn the scene upside down! Why did you kiss Tristan with that filthy mouth of yours?!"
"Never touch my face again, I'll kill you."
"You kiss Tristan again. I'll bloody hell kill you, Margo."
...
Fear trembled all over Margo as she thought of who said it to her. She furrowed her eyebrows and thought about it hard.
"It's Katrina," Margo whispered. How could that woman threaten her?
She's startled as the door burst open.
She looked over there with surprise as Nanny Margarette emerged, holding a tray. She was careful in every step because the contents might bawl out of it and onto the floor. Nanny Margarette shifted her eyes to Margo and smiled.
She put the tray on the coffee table beside Margo's queen bed and beamed, "You're awake, madame."
Margo got baffled and asked, "How did I get home, nanny? I just remember passing out of consciousness at Queen's Bar."
"Oh. Someone brought you here, madame. I caught his name, it's Marcus. And your assistant, Carmela." Nanny Margarette seems to remember the names at the last minute.
"Marcus?" Margo asked while furrowing her eyebrows.
"Yes, madame. I think he is a lieutenant. His full name is Marcus Dela Rosa," Nanny Margarette mumbled. She picked up the tray and put it on Margo's lap.
Margo's mouth drools with saliva as she saw breakfast foods laid in front of her. Two sunny sides up eggs, slices of luncheon meat on a small saucer. A serving of wheat bread with a chocolate spread on it, and a small cup of rice.
Margo rubbed her hands together and picked up the utensils. She devoured the food while it was hot and smiled at Nanny Margarette.
"Margo, what happened last night?" Nanny Margarette asked her seriously. Margo tardily chewed her food while putting down the utensils. Margo knew her nanny would turn into a mother now.
She had no family to stay by her side, it's only Nanny Margarette who has been there all along. Even when she got to start her acting career, Nanny Margarette had been here. She's been serving her and watching her, even from afar. She's always happy to see Margo achieving something on her own.
"Nothing, nanny," Margo whispered as if her nanny couldn't hear it. She spooned out a lot of rice and chewed it as much as she could while the pain in her chest stressed.
"Cmon, what happened yesterday?" Nanny Margarette wondered while sitting down on the bed. She raised her hand and brushed Margo's untidy hair.
The tears brimmed in Margo's eyes as she swallowed the food and looked at her nanny.
"Xian cheated on me, nanny," Margo whispered and the tears poured out of her eyes. Nanny Margarette creased her forehead and got puzzled.
"Xian kissed another woman while I was watching. I cannot be tempted to see him anymore. I can curse him for the pain he brought me, nanny," Margo stammered and put her hand over her mouth. Nanny Margarette said nothing and hugged her tightly. Margo howled like a dog who was in so much pain and cocooned her head in her nanny's chest.
"It's okay, Margo. It's okay," Nanny Margarette breathed. Margo wept loudly.
…
Carmela climbed in her car after saying goodbye to her Aunt Martha to pay a visit to Margo. She and Mina had been searching for her for a day and they asked for Marcus's help. After a tiring day yesterday, they found Margo on the floor. She was with Katrina outside of the bar, both stupefied and crying.
Marcus's team quickly got inside the bar and saw Margo lying on the floor. He hastily hoisted her up in his arms and carried her.
The wind breeze whistled across the night. Carmela got so worried about Margo that she didn't have time to peek at Katrina. Marcus and she both hustled Margo into Carmela's car after they saw her unconscious.
Mina reminded he will have to take care of Katrina yesterday. Until now, Carmela was expecting a call from him, but nothing came.
Carmela started the car and drove off outside of their village. She sped up on the curb of Bella's Main Highway. She thought of Xian and Michie's video while halting at the front of a red spotlight.
Carmela sighed and reminisced about a terrible memory of her; she never wanted to be back in Xian's arms. Carmela felt the pain again. Xian broke his promise of forever again. Margo was the present one.
She turned on the radio, and a mellow rock song resonated in the solitude of her car. She leaned back in the driver's seat. Carmela watched as the seconds ticked away on an enormous digital clock beside the red light.
Only 30 seconds away, her cell phone rang. Carmela saw on the caller ID that it was Marcus.
She quickly picked it up and answered, "Hey."
"I was just checking out, how's Margo?" Marcus asked. Carmela stepped on the gas pedal first. She turned into the corner of Maria Avenue before responding.
"I'm on my way there. I'll be checking her out. Did Mina call you?" Carmela asked, worried about Katrina.
"Not yet. I'll be checking on Katrina when I get time to rest at work," Marcus muttered.
"Yeah, sure, Marcus. By the way, I'll hang up. I'm inside Margo's village now." Carmela hung up the phone without even bothering what Marcus will have to say.
She sped up the car and stopped in front of Margo Monteverde's house. She hurriedly got out and bowed her head down to the security guard who was sitting on the chair as it saluted to her.
Carmela ran over to the front door and knocked. No one answered by her third knock. She called Margo. She didn't answer on multiple rings and that was when Carmela broke into the house. Carmela glanced over at the guard and saw that he was facing the other side. She sneaked the chance to open the door and went inside without making a noise.
She closed the door gently and looked around the house. She got confused on why there was no one around, even Nanny Margarette. Carmela went upstairs and into Margo's bedroom. Carmela placed her ear on the door and heard someone crying. She didn't make a sound when she heard Xian's name.
She knocked softly on the door and the weeping stopped. The rustling of the footsteps after seconds halted right on the other side. It opened the bedroom door.
Margo emerged from it, looking up with puffy eyes. Her tousled and untidy hare came up, her face was bare, no makeup on. She was wearing plain clothes, but she still looked beautiful. Carmela looked straight at her gloomy eyes and opened her mouth to say anything.
"What are you doing here, Carmela?" Margo trailed off. Carmela knew she was angry.
"I'm checking out on you, Margo. I've been worried since last night," Carmela murmured. Margo shook her head that made Carmela befuddled.
"Just stay out of my sight, Carmela, for this day," Margo stuttered. Carmela averted her eyes and looked the other way. She creased her forehead and asked.
Margo closed the door while Nanny Margarette was still inside, watching her closely. Margo leaned over the door and slid into it.
She dropped to the ground slowly and put her hands over her knees. Carmela slanted her forehead to the door and muttered Margo's name. The tears came again no matter what Margo did to stop it, and she wiped it hastily.
"Margo, I saw what happened. I know what you feel," Carmela consoled her.
"You don't know what betrayal feels like," Margo answered.
"Believe me, Margo. I've been there, many times," Carmela quickly rebutted. Margo didn't respond, which made Carmela sit down at the foot of the door and stayed with Margo for a while. She knew she was having a hard time now.
"They say, it's hard to believe someone because everyone can be a pretender. When someone shows you how they care for you through tough times, you would know they are real. They couldn't turn their back on you at that rate." Carmela weighed in her words.
Margo put her head in between her knees and indulged her words. Carmela said nothing for minutes.
"Someone threatened me. A death threat. I don't want to believe anyone anymore, Carmela," Margo confessed. She got a death threat from Katrina last night.
Carmela's astonished to hear that, but quickly recovered. She knew who it was. Someone who was not careful with her words, her best friend, Katrina.
