Xiao Liu eyes open as the guard throws the meal tray and some water from the small door. She coughed, looking down at the split water. She picked it up and sipped a few go up.
"Xiao Liu are you awake?" Ren's hoarse voice floated to Xiao Liu's mind.
"Yes…"
"Xiao Liu...tonight is the blood moon," Ren coughed, they were weak and hopeless. Xiao Liu looked at the water in blurred vision, she was too numb to feel the dread of her impending death but the sense of self-preservation was still there somewhere at the surface.
