The sun was already in the sky, shining its rays down on Monday morning. Harold was already dressed up in his uniform. He stood beside the car and waited for Denise, who was still upstairs, dressing up. Her meeting with the investors was at 9 am and it was already 7am. Harold kept looking at his watch. He knew Denise had an important meeting so he was wondering what was keeping her in her room.
Denise quickly added the finishing touches of makeup on her face. She looked at her mirror one last time, then picked her hand bag. She walked downstairs in her heels which added more to her height, making her look taller than she was. Her mother met her downstairs and stood in front of her with a smile on her face.
"You look beautiful, my dear. I know you will do well and everything will end well. That is why I want you to have this," she brought out a box she was holding in her hand. She opened the box, and brought out a beautiful golden necklace.
"Mother... " Denise gasped.
"I wanted to give this to you on Saturday night, when you were going out. But, it's still not late for it. That is why I want to give it to you." Mrs Wilson put the box away and held out the necklace. Denise turned and her mother put the necklace around her neck.
"It's beautiful, mother. Thank you so much." She hugged her mother.
"You should go before you are late." Denise laughed and said good bye to her mother, then walked out the door.
Harold stared at Denise when she stepped out of the house. She looked so beautiful in the dress she was wearing. And the makeup she wore has brought out her beauty making Harold totally speechless. Denise just smiled at him and nudged him to open the door for her when he was still staring, with his mouth slightly opened. He blinked a few times when he came back to his senses.
"Sorry, let me open the door for you," he opened the door and she start down. He quickly went to the driver's side and opened the door. He sat inside the car and drove off.
When they got to the office, Harold opened the door again for Denise who hopped out and went right into her office. Her secretary met her halfway on her way. She took Denise's bag and the files she was holding in her hands.
"Ma'am, Mr Shaw and Mr Johnson are here waiting for you at the conference room."
"Oh, really? I did not think they would be here so soon. Anyway, have you offered them anything, made sure they are comfortable?" Denise asked her.
"Yes, ma'am." The secretary nodded.
"Alright then, let's go."
The meeting was a complete success. Denise had finally been able to convince the investors to invest in her company and they had agreed to work with her. The interests she was going to make out of this deal was reasonable enough. So, she was happy when everything pulled through like she had wanted. Denise, her secretary and the two white men came out of the conference room with smiles on their faces.
"I am sure this partnership will bring both our companies together. And I am sure this deal will bring a lot of success to us," Denise said.
"Of course. That is what we are all hoping for. Since this deal has finally pulled through, don't you think we should celebrate?" Mr Shaw suggested.
"That is a very good idea. I mean, that is a very good way of sealing a deal, don't you think so?" Mr Johnson agreed.
"Well, it is. But, I don't really like parties."
"Who said anything about parties? We can hold a get together at our company. And invite all the staff here to join in. It's not going to be anything big. After all, this is a success for both companies, right?" Mr Shaw said again.
"Well that is a good idea. How about tonight then? It's much better if it's done earlier," Denise said.
"Great idea!" both men exclaimed and Denise smiled.
"Everyone can bring one person with them to celebrate with us." Denise nodded to that.
Both men shook hands with the women then left. Denise and her secretary walked into Denise's office. Denise took her bag from the secretary and dismissed her.
"Thank you, Laura for handling them well when I was not here. Right now, I would want you to inform all the heads of departments about the get together tonight and tell them to inform all the staff. You know the rest," she sat down and places her bag beside her.
Denise continued with her work and even sent Harold on errands, which he did without delay. She allowed everyone to close early so that they can prepare for the get together. After work was over, she asked Harold to drive her to the boutique. When they got there, she asked Harold to follow her inside. They walked to the Men's corner and Harold kept wondering why they were there. Denise started picking out shirts, jackets, ties and shoes and gave them to Harold, who looked at her confused.
"Try them on," she told him.
"What? You want me to try these on? All of them?"
"Yes, that's what I said. Go and try them on." She pulled him with her when he looked hesitant to move and brought him in front of one of the stalls. "Go in there, try the clothes on and come out. I will be sitting there in front of the mirror, waiting for you."
"But... " Harold began to protest.
"No, buts. Just go in already." Denise pushed Harold into one of the stalls, and closed the door behind him.
Harold tried all the clothes Denise gave him and she liked them all. So, she decided to buy all of them for him.
"No, you don't need to buy all those clothes for me. They are too many," Harold protested again.
"I am getting all of these for you because you are coming to the get together with me. You are not coming with me as my driver, though, but as my date."
Harold opened his mouth to say something, yet nothing came out. Denise just smirked and paid for the clothes, then took the bag containing the clothes and headed out, with a stunned Harold following shortly after.
Harold was still shocked by what Denise did at the shop. It is not like this is the first time she is buying him clothes, this is actually the first time she had bought him so many clothes. And what even shocked him more was the fact that Denise had asked him to come with her to the party with her as her date. His heart skipped a beat when she said 'date.'
"Don't be late and make sure you wear one of the clothes I just bought for you." she winked at him and went straight inside the mansion.
And that was a few minutes ago. Harold had been shocked by Denise ever since they left the office. He did not know what to expect from her. He headed straight to the bathroom and prepared himself for the party.
