Kimimaro Kaguya's pure-hearted nature preserved his inherent goodness, allowing him to pass the final test with ease.
Otherwise, the outcome might have been uncertain.
No one in Kirigakure believed that Kimimaro considered the ultimate weapon of the Kaguya Clan, known for their madness, could pass such a test.
His usual behavior seemed to confirm this: he was silent, never communicated, and fought with a berserk intensity, willing to tear out his opponent's throat even if he was gravely injured.
Kirigakure assigned him the task of clearing the way for other participants from their village.
Hence, Kimimaro felt lost, unsure of what to do next.
But this confusion didn't last long, as Yagura Karatachi approached him. After a brief conversation, Kimimaro followed him.
With Kimimaro, the most unusual and solitary member of Kirigakure, joining, all the successful participants from Kirigakure stood together.
There were not many, but not too few either.
Besides Yagura and Kimimaro, there were Kisame Hoshigaki, Suigetsu Hozuki, and Mei Terumi, making up a formidable group.
This number placed Kirigakure among the top in terms of successful candidates from the various villages.
In contrast, Iwagakure had only Deidara and Kurotsuchi pass, despite sending the largest number of participants.
The result left the Third Tsuchikage, Onoki, looking particularly grim.
Iwagakure had several strong candidates, including two Jinchuriki, but none respected Onoki enough to participate.
They either defected or wandered the world.
Unlike Iwagakure's dismal outcome, Sunagakure was filled with joy.
They had three successful candidates: Gaara, Matsuri, and Shira, the latter having been previously underestimated.
(T/N: Matsuri is a side character who is portrayed as a Gaara admirer or fan. Shira is a Taijutsu Suna Ninja who rivals Rock Lee in the series.)
Though three might not seem like many, given the small number of participants from Sunagakure, it was an impressive result.
Rasa, the Fourth Kazekage, was overjoyed, especially since Shira's success was unexpected.
Fortunately, Rasa hadn't rejected Shira despite his lackluster talent. This decision proved crucial, contributing to Sunagakure's respectable performance.
Kumogakure, a military powerhouse, also saw four successful candidates, just one more than Sunagakure.
They did better than the isolated Kirigakure, but the Raikage and Killer B, the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki, did not pass.
Instead, Omoi, Killer B's disciple, Darui, the Raikage's chosen successor, and Samui and Cee, disciples of the Two-Tails Jinchuriki Yugito Nii, defended Kumogakure's honor.
Compared to the other villages, Konoha seemed to outperform everyone else.
The participants from Konoha included several renowned ninjas, ensuring a high success rate.
This superior performance highlighted Konoha's strength and strategic advantage in the ninja world.
Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Toneri Otsutsuki, Hinata Hyuga, Neji Hyuga, Rock Lee, Shino Aburame, Shizune, Jiraiya, and Tsunade—ten people from Konoha successfully passed the final exam of the Ogami Clan selection trials.
If not for an unfortunate disqualification of a Nara clan member during the first test, Konoha might have boasted eleven successful candidates.
With only one hundred slots available in the Ogami Clan, Konoha securing ten spots was a remarkable feat.
Most of these ten were from the new generation, except for Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Shizune, with the rest being around twelve or thirteen years old.
Konoha had sent a modest number of participants, and about half of the "Konoha 13" made it through.
This impressive result caused envy among other villages. Konoha already had a strong presence in the Ogami Clan, and now they had even more members joining.
However, this outcome was not entirely unexpected by the other villages.
Despite the perception that Konoha might have favored treatment, the entrance trials were fair, and Konoha's success came from years of careful nurturing and preparation.
Take Naruto Uzumaki, the son of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, who had been intentionally trained from a young age.
Sasuke Uchiha, the scion of the Uchiha clan, had received private tutoring from the likes of Shisui, Obito, and Itachi Uchiha.
Neji Hyuga and Hinata Hyuga, though from a less influential clan than the Uchiha, were not without strong support.
Neji was mentored by Might Guy, and Hinata by Kurenai Yuhi, both central figures in the Ogami Clan.
These mentors had not only prepared one disciple each but multiple, including Rock Lee and Shino Aburame.
Toneri Otsutsuki, another notable entrant, needed no introduction. If they had more time, Konoha could have prepared even more candidates for the Ogami Clan.
With such a strong foundation, seven successful candidates (excluding Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Shizune) didn't seem excessive.
By comparison, the successful candidates from other villages arguably had a higher individual value due to the smaller numbers.
This entrance trial was a unique opportunity. In the future, other villages will develop and improve, making the competition even fiercer.
The next trials will likely see heightened competition, especially with existing Ogami Clan members raising the bar.
Of the one hundred available slots, nearly eighty percent went to smaller villages, civilians, or rogue ninjas.
Elite talent exists throughout the ninja world, not just in the Sixth Great Shinobi Village.
While the major villages do attract many, they can't monopolize all talent.
Considering resources alone, it's impossible. Therefore, the fact that the Sixth major village secured over twenty percent of the slots is impressive.
The remaining slots, though seemingly abundant, were scattered across many regions, making each success significant.
In smaller nations, having even one successful candidate is akin to winning the top prize in an ancient examination system.
However, these considerations were not Nagato's concern. His task was solely to select the new members of the Ogami Clan.
With the trials now complete, it was time to commence the initiation ceremony.
Nagato instructed the current members to escort the unsuccessful candidates off the island and bring the hundred successful candidates to the central hall.
Originally, Nagato intended to consult Asahi about presiding over the ceremony, but before he could speak, Asahi had already instructed him telepathically to take charge.
Accepting the task without hesitation, Nagato proceeded with the ceremony.
Following a well-structured process, the new batch of Ogami Clan members officially joined as the fourth generation of disciples.
At this point, the third-generation disciples had also returned to the plaza in front of the central hall.
As they arrived, the new disciples finally had a moment to marvel at the grand architecture around them
As the group stood in awe, the grand doors of the central hall began to open slowly. Instantly, everyone stood at attention, eager to see who would emerge.
When the doors fully opened, Asahi stepped out, his youthful appearance surprising those who had not seen him before.
Those familiar with Asahi were only mildly taken aback, but for the newcomers, his youthful looks and approachable demeanor were astonishing.
Despite hearing whispers and inquiries from their peers, it was still hard to reconcile Asahi's appearance with his status as the head of the Ogami Clan.
Nevertheless, Tsunade's example of youthfulness and power set a precedent that made this more believable.
As Asahi emerged, streams of light shot from his hands at incredible speed, even catching Nagato off guard.
If Nagato struggled to react, the new disciples were completely overwhelmed.
Instinctively, they closed their eyes, each internally exclaiming in surprise and bracing for an attack. However, their fears were unfounded.
Asahi had no intention of harming those he had selected. The streams of light were merely the identification tokens for the new disciples of the Ogami Clan.
Opening their eyes, the new disciples found a grand jade token floating before them. Gently reaching out, each disciple took hold of their token, examining it with curiosity.
At this moment, Asahi spoke: "These are the identification tokens for members of the Ogami Clan."
"Their functions will be explained to you shortly, along with the clan's regulations. For now, I have one important announcement."
"From today onward, Nagato will officially take over as the head of the Ogami Clan, managing all its affairs."
With Asahi's declaration, a wave of surprise spread through the crowd. Was Asahi stepping down?
Quickly, they collected themselves and responded in unison, bowing towards Nagato and saying, "Greetings, Clan Master."
Nagato nodded gently, accepting the responsibility with calm assurance. The outcome had been anticipated, so there was no surprise.
Asahi, observing this, nodded slightly and then slowly descended the steps.
He addressed Nagato, saying, "Nagato, I'll leave the rest to you. You handle the specific arrangements." With that, Asahi vanished from the spot.
Seeing Asahi's mysterious disappearance, Jiraiya and Tsunade exchanged a knowing smile. It seemed they wouldn't have the chance to catch up with Asahi for now.
One of their goals in coming to the Ogami Clan seemed temporarily out of reach.
The significant gap in status now made them wonder if there would ever be an opportunity to reminisce. Would there be? Naturally, yes.
Asahi wasn't one to forget old friendships. Though he initially interacted with the Sannin as a mentor, now they were all part of the Ogami Clan.
The bond between the Asahi and the Sannin remained strong.
Thus, on the second day of their induction, Asahi had a good drink with Jiraiya and Tsunade, reminiscing about old times. But that's a story for another time
As Asahi departed, Nagato instructed everyone to follow him into the central hall of the Ogami Clan.
He understood that this was Asahi transferring authority to him, so he didn't hesitate.
However, upon entering the central hall, Nagato did not take the prominent seat reserved for Asahi.
Instead, he took out a slightly smaller cushion and placed it beside Asahi's larger one.
It wasn't a matter of confidence in his ability to lead; it was out of respect for Asahi, his mentor, and the master of the Ogami Clan.
Once Nagato was seated, the other disciples of the Ogami Clan followed suit. Numerous cushions had already been arranged in the hall.
Initially, the new disciples were hesitant to sit, but at Nagato's signal, they found cushions and sat down.
With everyone seated, Nagato solemnly addressed them, "From today onward, my master has entrusted the Ogami Clan of the ninja world to me."
"The reason I specify 'of the ninja world' is because, across countless worlds, there are other branches of the Ogami Clan."
"This fact is well-known to the third-generation disciples. Therefore, my title is 'Clan Leader,' not 'Clan Master.'
"The Clan Leader governs one world, while the Clan Master oversees all worlds."
As Nagato finished speaking, everyone grasped the significance of his words.
The third-generation disciples, having spent over a decade in the Ogami Clan, understood these hidden truths.
However, the new disciples were visibly unsettled by this revelation.
