"Let's watch the match."
Asahi casually remarked and didn't say much more.
He cast his gaze down at the arena, and by now, the first group's match had concluded.
Not having seen the performance of the two individuals, Asahi wasn't concerned. After all, those with exceptional talent usually made their mark later in the series.
"Next match, Ebisu versus Daiken."
As the voice for the Chunin Exams echoed in the arena, Ebisu and another named Daiken swiftly made their way to the stage.
Once on stage, without much exchange of words, they formed opposing hand seals and quickly engaged in combat, aiming to showcase their skills before the prominent figures of the ninja village.
Asahi didn't recognize Daiken, and this character hadn't appeared in the anime or manga.
It seemed he might have perished in the Third Great Ninja War or spent his life as a mediocre Chunin.
So, Asahi didn't pay much attention to him. However, Ebisu was a character from the Naruto series, although not particularly strong, he was still a notable figure.
Asahi was somewhat interested in him, so he casually let the system investigate the talents of the two.
As expected, Daiken had a talent level of D, according to the rules of the Naruto world.
Without any fortuitous encounters, even with the utmost effort, he would only reach the level of a Chunin.
Ebisu had a somewhat better talent, a C-level talent, though his aptitude was not particularly clear. With some effort, there was a chance he could become a Jonin.
Watching Ebisu's performance in the field, Asahi nodded approvingly.
When Sarutobi Hiruzen saw Asahi nodding, he smiled and asked, "How do you see the two kids below?"
"That Daiken has limited talent. With some effort, he might become a Chunin. As for Ebisu, his talent is better, and with a solid foundation, he could have a good performance in teaching if he chooses to become an instructor."
Asahi didn't hide his thoughts and expressed his views straightforwardly. After all, Ebisu showed teaching aptitude later in the series, so it was not an inaccurate assessment.
"Haha, is that so? I also think Ebisu is a good kid." Sarutobi Hiruzen nodded in agreement.
After all, as students who hadn't graduated yet, there wasn't a significant difference in strength between Ebisu and Daiken, who had similar backgrounds.
Most of their strength lay in taijutsu, but taijutsu demanded a high level of fundamental skills.
Compared to Ebisu, Daiken's fundamentals were lacking significantly. So, it didn't take long for Ebisu to exploit Rin's weaknesses and end the match with an elbow strike.
"Ebisu versus Daiken, winner: Ebisu. Next match, Nohara Rin versus Shizune!"
Having won the match, Ebisu was naturally delighted. He believed that his performance should secure him a place under a decent Jonin mentor. As he walked off the stage, his steps seemed light.
With Ebisu leaving the arena, Rin and Shizune stepped forward.
"Rin, do your best."
"Yes, Shizune, you too!"
As they formed the hand seals, Obito in the audience shouted enthusiastically, cheering Rin on.
On the elevated platform, since the announcement of Rin and Shizune's names, both Asahi and Tsunade shifted their attention to the two girls.
Asahi was curious about the talents of these two characters who had a presence in the anime. Meanwhile, Tsunade was concerned about her ex niece, Shizune.
"System, investigate the talents of Nohara Rin and Shizune."
"Ding~ Nohara Rin, talent C+. No clear talent inclination."
"Ding~ Shizune, talent C+. No clear talent inclination."
Huh? Asahi raised an eyebrow. C+ talent?
It seemed that practical experience revealed the true understanding.
Previously, Asahi obtained results like S-rank or A-rank talents because he hadn't encountered many characters.
He initially thought the system categorized talents broadly into ranges like S-rank or A-rank.
However, it turned out to be quite detailed, and he just hadn't encountered such distinctions before.
Considering Shizune's future strength, a C+ talent suggested that she would likely reach the level of an elite Jonin.
If she had a B-rank talent, there would be a chance to approach the threshold of Kage-level strength.
As Asahi pondered, the two girls were already engaged in combat below.
"Senior, what do you think of the talents of these two kids?" Tsunade asked Asahi tentatively.
Seeing Asahi contemplating, Tsunade thought he might be considering taking on apprentices.
Although she intended to leave with Shizune, Tsunade still wanted Shizune to have a bright future.
Clearly, Shizune would have a more promising future with Asahi than staying with Tsunade. Plus, her safety would be more guaranteed under Asahi's guidance.
As Asahi was brought back to attention by Tsunade, he glanced at Rin and Shizune and remarked, "Their talents are decent. If they grow safely, reaching Jonin level shouldn't be an issue."
Tsunade, not a naive young girl, understood from Asahi's tone that he had no intention of taking on apprentices.
She dropped the idea of having Shizune become Asahi's disciple.
Not boasting, Tsunade believed that even though her body was having issues, Shizune, under her guidance, was doing well.
Tsunade had provided Shizune with enough knowledge to last a lifetime.
The matches continued, but for several rounds, Asahi didn't witness any impressive performances.
The talents were mostly hovering around D-rank, and the best one only received a C- rank. This left Asahi frustrated.
Even in a large village like Konoha, many ninjas had D-rank talents. Finding disciples with both suitable qualities and decent talents seemed challenging.
Fortunately, with the elimination of numerous cannon fodder participants, subsequent rounds showcased more talented ninjas who would make a name for themselves.
"In the next match, Uchiha Obito against Ishiki Chuu."
Ah, instantly, Asahi became more alert.
Is it finally time for an important character to appear? I have to see what kind of talent Uchiha Obito has, the one who caused chaos in the ninja world after turning rogue.
"System, investigate Uchiha Obito's talent for me."
"Ding~ Uchiha Obito, talent A+, inclination: Space."
No wonder. With an A+ talent, Obito could become a formidable force even without his descent into darkness. Adding the transplanted White Zetsu cells further enhanced his strength.
Unfortunately, his abilities heavily relied on the Sharingan's dojutsu. Most likely, all his talent points were invested in the Sharingan.
Don't even mention the Mangekyo Sharingan ability to reflect the soul; this thing is undoubtedly related to genetics.
