Hearing Asahi's somewhat helpless words, Hanzo's curiosity about the enigmatic Tazuna Clan was finally satisfied.
"Not at all," Hanzo replied modestly. "The fact that the Tazuna Clan has someone as powerful as you speaks volumes about its profound heritage."
Asahi wore a humble expression and quickly deflected the praise. He made himself seem no more than he was.
The conversation continued harmoniously and amiably. In summary, Hanzo acquired the information he sought. Asahi not only successfully deceived Hanzo but also established his fabricated background.
The two of them got along well, their discussion pleasant and satisfying. They seemed to complement each other perfectly, forming a subtle partnership... ahem.
"Hanzo-sama, the supplies are ready," came a knocking from outside the door, and the voices of the Rain Village shinobi reached their ears.
"Please bring them in," Hanzo instructed from his seat.
"Understood!"
The door creaked open, and several Rain Village shinobi entered, each carrying a large crate.
They hadn't used sealing scrolls because crafting them was currently quite challenging, and the small Rain Village couldn't afford the resources required for such items. Therefore, the supplies for Asahi were packed in large crates.
Asahi silently calculated the contents of these supplies. There was enough food to last him and his three disciples for a month, and the training resources could sustain them for three months. He nodded in approval, satisfied with what he saw.
Seeing Asahi's nod, Hanzo instructed his men to set the supplies down and then left the room.
"Asahi-sama, how will you transport these supplies back? If it's inconvenient, I can have my men assist you," Hanzo offered kindly, willing to help Asahi get the supplies to their destination.
Asahi wouldn't accept such an offer, of course. He couldn't afford to falter over such a trivial matter. Failing at this point would weaken the impact of his earlier bluffs.
"No need, I have a little ninjutsu that can handle this."
With those words, Asahi didn't hesitate. He activated his chakra, and his eyes sparkled with a hint of anticipation.
"Space-Time Technique: Infinite Space."
This was the reward the system granted him earlier for defeating Hanzo and rescuing the Sannin.
Suddenly, several large crates of supplies vanished into thin air, disappearing into Asahi's sleeves.
"Space-Time Ninjutsu?!" Hanzo exclaimed in surprise. This was one of the rarest ninjutsu techniques in the entire ninja world.
Only the late Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, possessed a similar spatial technique known as the Flying Thunder God Jutsu.
Despite his long life and vast experience, Hanzo had never encountered another form of Space-Time Ninjutsu, especially one not designed for combat. This revelation left him astounded.
However, while Hanzo was amazed, he didn't find it entirely unbelievable. The Tazuna Clan, with its centuries-old legacy, could present anything, and he would accept it.
Instead, it was Asahi who looked down upon Hanzo for being overly surprised. His disdainful gaze seemed to say, "What's the big deal about Space-Time Ninjutsu? There are plenty of those stored in the system, and in a few decades, it won't be that rare."
In particular, a dark-haired young man named Madara had expertly used Space-Time Ninjutsu to show off. Despite his current inferiority in strength, Asahi believed his knowledge and intelligence far exceeded Hanzo's.
Asahi quickly concealed his scornful expression, but Hanzo keenly sensed it. This rare display of emotion made Hanzo's masked face blush slightly beneath his protective covering.
"Well, it's handy for carrying things, but not particularly useful otherwise," Asahi casually explained.
"I heard it was developed by the Tazuna Clan's ancestors during the Warring States period to transport supplies. Later, other clans imitated it, creating their own storage ninjutsu. So, this Pocket Dimension technique doesn't have much utility nowadays."
Asahi continued to deceive Hanzo, subtly elevating his own image. Mentioning the Warring States period added an air of historical significance to the conversation.
Hanzo was taken aback. "The Warring States period? Your Tazuna Clan developed it back then, and other clans followed suit? I had no idea Space-Time Ninjutsu was so easy to develop! For so many years, aside from the Second Hokage, I've never seen anyone in a village who could use Space-Time Ninjutsu! And you think it's useless now? I have to get one! It would be so convenient during wartime, avoiding ambushes when transporting supplies!"
Hanzo was at a loss for words as he struggled to comprehend this mysterious clan's unique abilities. It seemed the Tazuna Clan could casually unearth hidden treasures.
"Hehe, you're kidding, right? Space-Time Ninjutsu is a rare art throughout the entire ninja world," Asahi said with a smirk, squinting at Hanzo. He shook his head and added, "You'll see more of it in the future."
Asahi implied that in the future, renowned figures like Minato Namikaze, Tobirama Senju, Kakashi Hatake, and even Madara Uchiha would possess Space-Time Ninjutsu. If Hanzo managed to survive that long, he might witness these skilled individuals using this remarkable technique.
Hanzo, however, seemed to misunderstand, thinking that Asahi might have multiple Space-Time Ninjutsu techniques up his sleeve. He hoped for the opportunity to witness more of Asahi's incredible skills in the future.
"I'll be looking forward to that," Hanzo replied, bowing slightly. He then retrieved a small box from a safe inside the office, puzzling Asahi.
"As you're newly emerged into this land, you might find yourself troubled by worldly possessions. Here's ten million ryo. It may not be much, but it's a token of our appreciation from the Hidden Rain Village."
Asahi raised an eyebrow at the unexpected windfall. Although he wasn't sure about the purchasing power of ten million ryo in the ninja world. In this war-torn era, it was undoubtedly a significant sum.
Asahi didn't refuse the offer. He already owed them a small favor, so accepting this additional gesture was not an issue.
Moreover, Asahi was currently in need of funds, and some of the more relaxed income sources were no longer suitable for him.
"I appreciate it, Hanzo-sama. Consider this as repaying one favor with another. If the opportunity arises in the future, I'll make sure to return the favor."
Hearing this, Hanzo was quite pleased. His face beamed with a smile. He had gone out of his way to help Asahi in the hopes of gaining his goodwill, and it seemed he had succeeded.
"No problem at all. If I can assist you, then it's worth it," Hanzo humbly replied. He was delighted but knew not to show it too overtly.
Asahi inwardly rolled his eyes at the politicking and posturing of these individuals. He found it tiresome. However, he understood that Hanzo wasn't just a politician; he was also the leader of the Hidden Rain Village.
"Alright, let's consider it settled then. By the way, where is the nearest black market from here?"
Asahi waved his hand, cutting off any further niceties and getting to the point by inquiring about the location of the black market.
Seeing this, Hanzo didn't press further on the previous matter. His objectives had been met.
"Well, the nearest black market to us is..."
