SEBASTIAN
As per usual, Emma went to the cafe but we stayed in the cabin. We had made dinner reservations in the Midnight Masquerade, one of the best restaurants in the town, for Margo and Brady the waiter to meet at with promises that the dinner was on her to bait him into meeting up with her. Audrey, her parents, Emma, Matthew and his wife and our family were going to dine together so it's going to be an eventful night.
Margo already said she couldn't go as she had a date to attend so it would just be us, the matchmaking team knew that she would be with Brady whilst we sat at a separate table which is where we are at now.
The restaurant was breathtakingly beautiful when it came to the interior design, the walls were a deep navy with gold roses painted across the walls, the domed ceiling was white with constellations littered in gold. The tables were covered in white and the chairs the same, a navy ribbon tied in a bow adorned them wrapping around the backs of the chairs.
There were candelabras placed in the corners of the rooms, masquerade masks hanging from the arms, each one beautifully decorated and different to the last. We were on the second floor which had a balcony to overlook the similarly decorated first floor, up here the floor had the normal tables and booths for extra privacy, each table with an extraordinary view of the massive crystal chandelier, to which my attention was taken away from by a squeal.
"This soup is amazing! It's almost as good as Alex's," my mother exclaimed, taking another spoonful.
"I agree, it's very balanced," my father concurred, a lot more composed than my dear mother.
I occasionally glanced over to Margo's table to see her chatting with Brady and she looked like she was having fun, Logan grumbled when he found out but he understood, either way, he glared daggers at Brady's back from our table.
Just before the main course, Emma excused herself needing the restroom, spotting Margo and Brady on her way back and walking over with a confused look on her face. They talked for a little whilst we waited for Emma's return, making small talk as time passed.
AUDREY
I glanced at my watch and looked at the entrance of the section we were in, seeing a tall beautiful woman stroll in, her hair curled and flowing down the shoulder of her side that wasn't shaved, her tight black dress showing off her well-built body and curves. I stood up and walked over to greet her, conveniently stopping beside Margo, Brady and Emma.
"Jen, how are you? I'm glad you found the place okay." I hugged her and smiled, feeling the nerves flaring up beside me.
"I'm great, and this place is amazing, I've always wanted to come here." She looked around in awe, a bright smile on her face.
"Boss?"
"Brady?"
"Audrey? What's going on?" Margo's face was that of confusion, softening when a softer nerve-filled voice followed.
"Ah, Emma, you know Jen right? Of course you do, you're always staring at her in the cafe."
She squeaked in response, her cheeks blushing red. "Audrey, what are you talking about?" Margo was the one to ask, taking a sip of her champagne.
The cupids and the King brothers came over, wondering what all the fuss was about.
"Emma wasn't staring at Brady, although I can see how it can be mistaken since they both work in the same area."
My mother spoke up this time. "So what you're saying is we had the wrong person?"
"Yes. You already made plans so I decided to try and let this go as smoothly as possible and take the initiative to form a second plan, speaking with Jen in private after the last day in the cafe."
"Finally, they can get together, the longing from either side of the cafe is cute and all but it's intense, come near the longing zone and it feels like the hands touching you from every angle." Brady shivered, remembering all those times.
"Wait, you knew? Why did you say yes?" Margo questioned.
"Audrey said she would pay for my food, and plus she didn't want to ruin your plan or let it go to waste so she approached me and told me what was happening before everyone arrived in the cafe. Plus, she let me bring a friend." He stood up and said his goodbyes and thanks to Margo for the company before greeting a man who looked to be the same age who walked in, a waitress directing them to another table.
"So if you may, I say we let the lovebirds have some alone time." I signalled to a waiter, giving him the name the table was under so that he could direct them to their private booth. Jen smiled at Emma and followed him confidently, holding the hand of a blushing Emma who stood a full foot shorter than the goddess that dragged her along.
We all made our way back to the table, adding a chair for Margo as we placed our orders for the main meal.
"What was that about dear?" My father questioned my mother, a raised eyebrow and a sip of his drink.
"Oh nothing dear, just cupid business."
He laughed and downed the rest of his drink. "Are you setting people up again?"
"Not just me dear, the whole lot of us cupids and the King brothers too, a pleasant addition."
"Oh? And how did it go?"
My mother furrowed her eyebrows and playfully scowled. "A bust, it was an absolute bust on our side."
"On our side?"
Matthew nodded and wrapped his arm around Veronica, placing a quick kiss on her cheek before explaining. "We thought Emma had the hots for a barista in the cafe she always visits, turns out she had the hots for the manager instead."
"Yeah, but only Audrey knew that, so it was a bust for all of us except for Audrey." Margo continued, thanking the waiter that appeared to place her drink and plate in front of her.
"Audrey always notices things that normal people wouldn't, this is why she's the best cupid of us all." My mother finished, throwing a smile my way.
"It's a shame that Rowell Academy has lost her services, let's hope the cupid she chose is good," Matthew added, "it's Audrey, of course they'll be good."
"Okay, can we just eat our food now?" I asked, my cheeks heating up.
My mother laughed and picked up a forkful of spaghetti. "Of course my dear, so what's everyone doing for new years?"
The night continued as it started, conversations, drinking and laughter, that night, we came home happy and well-fed. And that night, Emma came home late with a dazed smile on her face, strolling past me and Sebastian, the both of us curled up in a blanket on the couch, mumbling a goodnight before bounding to her room.
