A sect needed disciples for it to work properly, the disciples were the lifeblood of the sect which would get him profits and other different things such as slaves or thralls that he could use for cultivation purposes.
At this point, he could get these things by himself but it could cost him time and a headache, if he had others to do it for him he could cut the time he used to gather these things and he could also continue cultivating at his safe headquarters where there would be no chances of random ambushes due to the enemies he made recognizing him.
