Next morning everything has pretty much normal except the fact that my mind was anything but that. I was completely disoriented.
I then realised I was a couple of days later for the briefing of my last mission. I hurried to the chief office. On my way I passed his assistant's desk, she looked at me with a sad smile. I tried to comprehend the reason for the smile but got nothing out of it. I asked her to inform the chief about my visit.
I knocked at his office. After a few minutes I heard a faint come in. I entered the room and stood at attention, just near the chair. He always looks at me with disappointment filled eyes.
I don't know why but I have to sudden urge to do something...something so that there I heard a sudden throat clearing. well shit I looked up and saw chief staring at me.
"Sorry sir I kind of spaced out" I replied apologetically
"I asked why were you so late a briefing" he repeated in a amused sort of way
"Sir I felt it was important for me to heal first before joining the duty. I suffered from a mojor concussion and a couple of broken ribs. Other than that I am having hallucinations so I prefer to look up to my injuries rather than the debriefing"
I gave quite a monologue and so sure that today I was going to get thrown out from the agency.
I looked in his eyes and saw something I yearned for the longest time...PRIDE
He must be going complete bonkers was the only thought swirling through my mind.
I don't know what came to me but I continued "Sir for me mission always comes before everything but after the mission is completed else everything is comes first.
This is the end. I am convinced. I am getting thrown out. But he only smiled and said something my ears couldn't believe "Yes of course"
"So now can we go on with the report" he continued
"Yes Sir"l replied a few octave higher than required because I was embarrased and had nothing else.
I gave him the report and hurried out of the office off to the training grounds
