Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - Awakening In A New World

As his eyes fluttered open, the sun was shining brightly obscuring his vision. His vision adjusted to the brightness and he noticed the surrounding environment was one unfamiliar to him, where in the world was he, why was here, what is going on. He thought hard about what could have led him to awake in what looked like mysterious forest. Dense deep green leaved trees were everywhere the grass looked untouched and untravelled. Various flora littered the landscape and none of them he seemed to recall. He sat in a small clearing listening to birds chirp dwelling on his past, he could not remember anything, not even his name... Then suddenly "Blip" a noise like that from a video game, a menu had appeared before him out of nowhere. "Please enter name:" He stared blankly and thought to himself "m-my name? What is my name?" not knowing he decided to choose a new name "hmm let's go with... Myth" a woman's voice soothing and calm "Name accepted, please choose your starting class:" the screen before Myth changed displaying the same avatar multiple times with different equipment. All of them with shaggy medium length jet black hair with the part off kilter so that it swept across his left eye. They had the same deep purple eyes that drew you in, the small nose, lightly coloured lips and skinny body... they were all of himself. Looking over the classes Myth thought about what character he would play in a video game, what would suit him here in an unknown world. He was alone here, a solo player, perhaps... "Blip" "you have chosen rogue, do you wish to confirm your selection?" Reaching out Myth tapped the yes button on the holographic screen. It disappeared and two daggers materialized on his hips. Curious as to what he could do with them he drew his weapons and starting taking practice swings. Needing to familiar himself with this world's combat he walked up to a tree, he swung his daggers one after another, he felt an exhilarating sensation as he did. He couldn't explain it but it felt good, rogue was definitely the right choice. "Now how do I open that menu... There must be a way to see if I any skills" He stood there making hand gestures and saying things like "Open menu, menu open" with no luck. "Sticks snapping and leaves rustling" someone or something was close, sheathing his daggers Myth climbed a tree to lie in wait of whatever was coming his way. The noises we getting closer and he could faintly here someone talking, no scratch that he thought, it's two someone's. People having a conversation "So what are you doing after we're done here?" "I'm not too sure, might stick with the group or go on my own, I haven't put much thought into it" It was a female voice sweet, yet fierce like someone who could command and be sympathetic. The male voice was soft and gentle, almost enough to coax him into leaving the tree branches. The voices got louder as waited until they stopped in the clearing beneath his hiding place, wanting to get a look of the people in this world he started to edge along the branch. The branch bending made Myth be cautious the last thing he wanted was for it to snap and him fall into a fight he wasn't prepared for. At the edge as far he dared go before the branch would undoubtedly snap he could make out the two elves "wait wait, elves? Noticing the pointed ears on two of them there are elves here? Maybe it's a fantasy world" he quietly mused to himself as he watched them sit in the clearing he woke up in. "come on Nyx you can't just leave us, we all started together we were going to beat this game side by side." Nyx, the female elf, had deep purple hair that looked almost black depending on the light, she was of average height maybe 5' 9" and a skinny build similar to him "I know but it's been two days and no ones even made it to level 2" "well get there we just started and this thing doesn't even have a tutorial, the highest level player right now is only level 2, it's not like we're falling far behind" Listening in, Myth made note that it seems like a game with levels and multiple races and levels. That means there should be a way to log out, if only he could figure out how to open his damn menu. These two newcomers might know, but to ask them he would have to give himself away and confront them. It might not be the smartest idea, especially with no memory and no idea what to say to them should they start asking questions. Without a better plan he prepared to climb down when *snap* the branch broke...
