Chapter 3 - It's Time to Lose Some Weight

Nathan stood in the middle of the classroom not knowing what to do. He was about to walk towards the board when a new message from the system appeared, saying that he received two temporary skills from a bonus reward.

[Depicting Hands and Architectural Vision was activated.]

And as soon as it said it was activated, countless images materialized inside his head.

"Hm? Mister Nathan?"

'This is...'

If he recalled correctly, every single image was the exact same buildings, which simply didn't disappear from his memories.

Nathan recognized it, from a three-story house to a simple cottage. The only difference from what he was recalling was that, in his mind, he could see the indoor structure, the exterior design, and every outline of the building.

It was as if his mind was a blueprint.

'This is definitely a cheat ability.'

"Excuse me, Mister Blake. Is there a problem?"

The professor soon spoke interrupting Nathan's thoughts.

"Ah, I apologize, professor. Did I somehow space out again?"

Not a few seconds later, he immediately made an excuse.

"Pardon my lapse in attention. I didn't get enough sleep last night. Nevertheless, I will still try my best to draw on the board."

With a smile on his face, Nathan made a speech-like apology and excuse with an unusual tone.

"Y-Yes...?" Even his professor was slightly flustered by the sudden addressing which fortunately made her forget to lecture him later.

Tap.

Shortly after, Nathan walked up in front of the board holding not one, but a few chalks with different colors, in his hands.

"Don't you need this meter stick?"

Hearing the concern of his professor, Nathan glanced sidewards before looking back at the board again with a smile.

"I think it's fine for me."

He wouldn't have much confidence if he didn't that he had a rather special trick to use.

Depicting Hands.

'The system said it gave me advantageous skills so if I guess it correctly...'

While Nathan was trying to completely understand what the system implied, he had already placed the white chalk on the board.

'This skill will let me draw in the most cheat-like way... As a skill given by the system should be.'

Chrrrk.

'Am I actually moving my hands or...'

Nathan couldn't explain it completely but his hands were moving the way he imagined it would be without having any flaws. It was like his mental imagery was one with his hands.

Without noticing it, his professor was behind him watching while utterly speechless.

"What is..."

The student she assigned to draw was doing something unimaginable in front of her.

Just a few moments ago, she was slightly surprised seeing him made a straight line perfectly, but now he had been making consecutive straight lines without even having a meter stick or a simple ruler. How exactly would she feel about this?

However, although having so many questions, the professor remained standing still as she watched this spectacle. She did not dare to bother the student as she had the feeling that the result would be more impressive if she just waited.

Over a minute had passed, Nathan eventually halted. He stepped aside from his sketch as he spoke.

"I've finished an illustration of a house that I quite like."

"Woah...!"

All of the students in the classroom gasped in surprise as they saw the drawing on the board and couldn't but feel mesmerized.

It was the same for their professor, but also different. In her perspective, what her student had made was more than a simple illustration. She might not have the eyes but at least she knows something.

It was the most detailed illustration she saw that was made only with a chalk. The outline enveloping the infrastructure of the house was like that of a civil engineer layout of how it would be built, while the aesthetically appealing design was like that of an expert architect.

But the unbelievable thing here was, almost all of the civil engineers and architects only made blueprints of a building in computers or even if they do it hand-drawn, it wouldn't definitely be on a chalkboard using a chalk.

"Uh, professor? Can I go on my sit now?"

Nathan soon spoke after being silent for a while as he stared at his professor who also stared at him.

"Uh, prof...?"

"You..."

𝘙𝘐𝘐𝘐𝘕𝘎!

In the end, Nathan didn't have much time to rest as his professor asked him tons of questions, which he answered so vaguely, and even let him stand at his drawing while she tried to take pictures countless times.

Whew.

"The system..."

He stopped in the middle of the corridor after barely remembering the system caused by being mentally exhausted.

'If it operates when the host is alone, inactive, or resting then it should be here, right about now...'

[I admire your greatness, Cadet.]

[Here's your rewards.]

[+3 Charm], [+2 Wisdom], [+1 Intelligence], [+0.25 Luck]

Nathan felt the strange sensation again from where he was in the bathroom.

'This is kind of refreshing. Although they're just fictional, I bet this is what the main characters feel like after receiving these attributes.'

[Good news, Cadet.]

"Hmm?"

[I received an order from the higher-ups, telling me that I'm allowed to make you pick one skill of the two skills you got from the bonus reward.]

[Would you pick 'Depicting Hands' or 'Architectural' Vision?]

'So it's making me choose one skill to make it permanent and not a temporary one that I could use one time. Also...'

Nathan made quite a serious expression as he suddenly biting his fingernail.n

"It says here that the system had higher-ups..."

He mumbled to himself as he tried to comprehend what it meant by 'higher-ups'.

'Is my system a mysterious one with a creepy history that only I, the-chosen-one-cliche, could carry out, like sung jin-woo? Or rather, is the word just a playacting to make it more tense?'

Nathan breathed out a heavy sigh.

"Either way, I've no reason to be concerned about yet. If my life is a novel, I'm only in chapter three."

Shortly after, he decided to choose the Architectural Vision since it's more of a cheat than the other one. He realized earlier that he could actually see the structure of a building just by focusing on it after learning it by testing the skill in his school's building.

Nathan was about to continue walking now but the message windows suddenly spread out, and Liam came into his sight.

"Ah. There you are, you bastard! Why are you so late?" Liam ran and bump into him like a maniac.

"What the hell-! Get off me!"

"Whew. I thought you were already dead..."

"Huh, why? Why do you have a worried look?" Nathan said as he stood up after getting slammed to the ground.

"The gang members, the one who always picks on you, they're gathering up near the exit and I thought..."

"..." Nathan already knew what was the reason behind it but still didn't say something. He just had this serious look on his face.

Soon, he started moving, followed by his friend who only got more worried after seeing his expression.

A moment later, Liam spoke.

"Hey. You know if this still continues, I could just tell my father to–"

But Nathan cut him mid-sentence.

"No. I'm fine. You'll only get yourself in trouble."

He knew his friend was going to try and help him out in his situation so he instantly refused.

"Later, when we are outside the building. Continue onwards without me. And avoid them as much as possible."

"What? but–" Liam stared at him intensely after realizing the meaning behind his words.

"I'll sort it out with them. Just do as I say so."

"Damn you... Okay, fine."

He eventually gave up on trying to persuade him. He now knew that no one could possibly subdue his recklessness.

Tap, tap.

'They're near the gate...'

Nathan slightly widened his eyes as he stopped after noticing several students outside the school and some of them were familiar.

The gang members.

Without saying anything, Liam nodded at him and continued walking to the distance, while Nathan just stopped at the entrance of the building waiting for his friend to left.

"How can I even talk this out..."

Only after Liam safely left his view did he decide to follow. But before he could step the second time, something appeared in front of him.

[Listen here, Cadet.]

"I thought you're not going to appear again."

[You have been given a commission with two different conditions.]

'The way it gives mission change... and conditions?'

[Condition 1 - Get yourself beaten up until you faint.]

[Condition 2 - Fight back and defeat all of them.]

–Rewards: [+10 Endurance], [+1 Strength], [+1 Agility], [Hostility of the gang members will slightly increase]

'So this is just two different missions but with the same rewards and outcome.'

Thinking of something ridiculous, Nathan smirked.

'Would I received double rewards if fight back, defeat all of them and somehow also get beaten up?'

Shortly after, he proceeded to walk forward.

"It's time to lose some weight."
