Chapter 3 - Prologue

This chapter has been edited on September 19, 2018

Everyone has heard of the daring and extremely handsome prince charming.

Well... Charmings. The triplets: Christopher, William, and Charles Charming. The pride of the Charming family. The one and only trio of magnificence. The greatest thing to ever be produced by Lily and Michael Charming. The most wonderfu-

Hang on, wait a sec.

Oh... oh. Wait, there's another one?

Oh. Lucas. Oh yeah, wait let me start over.

The triplets: Christopher, William, and Charles Charming. The pride of the Charming family. The one and only trio of magnificence. And then their little brother Lucas Charming is nice too.

Unfortunately, this story revolves around this sad little loner, so I apologize in advance. Lucas Charming was feeling particularly lonely this time of the year, in summer. That was because it was Christopher and Snow's second anniversary.

Yes, the Snow White. The fairest and most soft-spoken woman that ruled the Eastern Kingdom. How envious Lucas was. Being able to marry the most beautiful maiden in the Eastern Kingdom and then being pronounced king of the Eastern as well? It was almost illegal how lucky Chris was. And he wasn't the only one.

Guess who Charles Charming married? Any idea? Queen Aurora. Yeah, Sleeping Beauty. Not only that but now he's the king of the Western Kingdom (the ex-Sleeping Kingdom). Infuriating, truly.

Then there's William. Saint William. Mr. Gets- everything- he- ever- asks- for- because -he's- handsome- and- stalked- a- girl- for- a- shoe.

If it weren't obvious already, William married Cinderella and ruled over the Capital of Lacigam- the Northern Kingdom. Even so, William was the brother that Lucas liked the most, seeing as he was always so caring towards his little brother and was never too arrogant. That made Lucas even angrier though because then his hate for William that more unjustified.

Why was Lucas not at Chris and Snow's anniversary, you ask? His father said they had to handle some important business here in the Southern Kingdom. And Lucas didn't mind not being around all that flirting and romance while he was still horribly single.

As he has been for his entire life.

Shaking himself out of his thoughts, he kicked over his cards of solitaire and headed to his bathroom, which was quite a journey, seeing as his room was three rooms combined. His bathroom was about the size of a commoner's bedroom. Partially white marble and all pristine.

He walked up to the middle sink (since there were three) and put his hair in a low ponytail before splashing cold water in his face. He stared into the mirror, doe-eyes big and brown, pools of milky chocolate.

He stood up and easily began talking to himself, as his eyes slid down the rest of his body. "Maybe it's the way that I look"

His pale blonde hair reached barely past his shoulders and he had a very slim, sharp face. His collarbone was very easily seen since he was very skinny. So skinny, that his white dress shirt drooped over one shoulder. Luckily, the hid his profoundly curved body. His body was something that he'd seen very many women strive to have. "I look more like a woman than most women. That's why they don't like me"

Or maybe I'm unlikeable.

He didn't say that aloud. He didn't need to. He said it to himself every single day. His brothers said it to him without even talking. They said it to him with their charming smiles and their self-earned affluence.

It was then that a knock sounded on the door and he allowed his eyes to leave his own reflection. "Come in," he said to the white door. It opened to reveal his own chef, Jacob Roth.

Roth was an old man, with long grey hair pulled up in a bun and kind brown eyes. He had been the assistant head chef here for as long as Lucas could remember.

The head chef had recently died and Roth had refused to take the place. And so, they were on the hunt for a new one.

"Hello, your Highness." he sat, looking around the place like it was foreign to him, "I didn't plan on meeting you in such an environment"

Lucas smiled, "Jacob, don't act as if you've never seen a toilet before," he said, hopping onto the sink counter and swinging his legs as he sat, "is there something you've needed?"

"Yes, I came with two big announcements," He said with a slight cheeriness in his tone, "So I am glad that you are sitting"

"Lay it on me, Jacob," he said, swinging his legs harder.

"The first is that we have found a new chef." Roth announced, his smile growing by the minute, "His name is Brent Lucas and he lives in the continents. You know, the non-magical folk"

"A chef who's not apart of the Tale race? And his name is Lucas?" Lucas leaned forward, "Where is he from?"

"From the United States," he answered immediately as if waiting for that question, "A man from a state in North America called 'Louisiana'"

"Louisiana" Lucas repeated it as if it were the most magical thing in the world.

Fun fact about Lucas: he loved food more than anything else in the world.

Food did not marry a princess and move out. Food did not "forget" to mail you back after you ask them on a date. Food can't reject you.

"Oh god, I can't wait to meet this man" he sighed, "What was the second bit of news?"

"Ah" Roth stood up straight, "I am to lead you to your father and he shall tell you the news. It's quite exciting" he answered before Lucas hopped off the counter warily. He followed Roth out the bathroom and out of the room.

They walked down the long hallway in deep anticipation, "You mean, he's finally going to tell me the reason of why we couldn't go to Chris and Snow's party?"

"Exactly. Although I think he also feels you can't hold your alcohol very well" Roth added, "Might be another reason, just to let you know"

Lucas scowled, "Hush, Jacob"

The chef laughed as they entered the dining room. King Michael sat at the head of the table, finishing his brunch. Lucas eyed the plate greedily, mouth watering at the smell of the tuna sandwich and blue chips. The king was sipping on some Chirm's wine, a delicacy in the Southern Kingdom. He looked up at his son with a large smile as Lucas sat down to the right of him.

King Michael was a large man, with a large brown mustache and long brown hair. He clapped his son on the shoulder, nearly dislocating the boy's arm and beamed.

"Lucas, how are you, my boy?" He said, loud voice bouncing off all the walls.

"Father," Lucas groaned, "I know why you really called me in here, let's cut to chase, please"

King Michael laughed, "Getting more and more like Charles by the day," he said, "Alright so, you recently turned 21, you know that"

"Yes, yes father, what is this?" Lucas patted the dining table anxiously

"I see you're excited" Michael chuckled, "I hope you keep up this excitement when I finish telling you everything"

"Yes yes yes, just tell me father" Lucas rolled his eyes

"As you know, your brothers are married to the three queens of each other kingdom" Michael began, "Each of my sons has proven themselves not only to be outstanding individuals but beneficiary in terms of power as well. We now rule every kingdom in Lacigam, we rule all of Lacigam. There is a Charming at every corner"

"Why are you telling me this?" Lucas scrunched up his nose. He didn't want to talk about his brothers.

"You may be asking, then, what is your path?" Michael answered, "If all of Lacigam has a ruler then what kingdom is there for you, Lucas, to conquer?"

Lucas tilted his head in confusion in the way a small puppy would "Do tell"

"No kingdom at all" Michael grinned, "But a tribe. Yawa."

"Yawa?" Lucas grimaced "In the Western Kingdom?"

"Yes, there is a small tribe in the Western Kingdom called Yawa. They do not follow the rules of the kingdom and have there very own form of government" Michael explained

Lucas just shrugged, "They already have a chief"

"Chief Bron is retiring and giving his throne up to his daughter" Michael supplied, "Her name is Jenine Kcolb. She is turning 39 this winter"

"Hold on, you're not about to suggest what I think you're about to suggest, are you, father?" Lucas shook his head

Michael made a smile that looked more like a grimace, "Lucas" he grabbed his son's hand affectionately "You are going to marry her"
