Chereads / King of Caedes / Chapter 2 - Never

Chapter 2 - Never

Tennyson stood in shock as he watched his employer slit the targets throat like it was second nature. 'Who did I get involved with?'

"Men, finish the job. dispatch the remaining, women and children included "

His men, who gathered the remaining guests along the main isle stared at him in discontent. Did they just hear him right?

"But Sir, this isn't-" a lone private said in disbelief.

"THAT'S AN ORDER!"

"This isn't the contract!"

In the next instant, Tennyson had him by the throat and smashed his skull up against the marble pillar on the opposite side of the room. Blood and cranial fluid spattered the once clean and white column. Not a word echoed through the church from his subordinates as punishment for disobedience was absolute under his rule.

"Failure to comply will result in death, do any of you want to follow orders? Or end up like your companion?" He dropped the body and in another instant was in from of a guest, black shadows flowing from his boots.

"Take your swords," positioning the sword in his left hand and putting it in front of the man's heart. "and follow your orders." thrusting the shadow sword through his chest cavity.

As the sword thrust through the heart, blood spat out like a torrent but never hit the floor, instead the shadows enveloping the sword seemed to eat it up and shot into the man draining the life force out of him. His body wrinkling and deteriorating in moments

"Your part of MY mercenaries, and you will do what your told, or I'll severe your contracts early.

The remaining guests warched in horror and started screaming until their fate was met by the same as the man's that Tennyson unmercifully executed.

He walked up to Caedes and sheathed his sword on his back and wiped the blood of his privates skull on his pant leg.

"This is going to cost your more then what we originally agreed upon." he said as he picked a piece of bone fragment from his hand.

Caedes looked at him, sighed and handed him a chip. "There is an additional 10 million credits along with the 10 I already paid you on this."

Caedes slicked his hair back and smiled, "Rest assured Tennyson, I'll have more contracts for you and your shadow legion."

Tennyson looked at Caedes with disgust. 'I'm not sure if I even want to... No one in their right mind can't typically afford my upfront costs, yet this madman appears out of nowhere and has me assault the grand church. Fuck, I should have charged more.' "I look forward to our business in the future. "
