"S-Save her," it was Ayden's broken voice. His silver eyes were filled with complete sadness and anxiety, "Save her, Ed. Save my little sister…"
As much as he liked that suggestion, but how when he was trapped in here as well?
Siblings. Edmund admired how Ayden and Minerva loved each other greatly without even uttering a word. Such silent love that could melt anyone's heart if they would find out how they cared and loved each other, love was indeed the greatest affection that any creature could have.
Love was not about what they did to stand out from the crowd but what they'd done when the crowd was nowhere to be found. Love between a brother who was been accused and a sister who had no freedom to decide, complicated things occurred. But they gave him enough reasons to fight more. These two made him realized that love was stronger than any lies and betrayals they'd been through.
"Don't let her get wed," he heard Ayden's voice, almost to a whisper.
Just a thought of seeing her with another man made his heart ached. No. She wouldn't. Whoever that bastard was, he had no right to own her.
"No, he can't," finally, he answered him, "She deserves someone better."
But he was hoping that he could be that someone. But he wasn't even good. If there was something good in him, he didn't even know what it was.
"No, she suffered too much for this," Ayden said. Their cells were apart but he could feel his lost, "She craves for love while giving love, and this wedding will make her suffer for more. I've been there. I saw her every tear whenever she cried. I saw how her heart broke after her first love married another. I witnessed how she cried for years knowing that the man she loved can't love her back. Her own father was murdered and her mother died from depression. Her brother was killed. I put her into this choice less situation, and made her a queen, though I know she hates it. She never wanted the throne from the beginning. She was hurt and alone. And I—"he took a deep breath before he spoke again, "—I abandoned her too. I deserve her hatred."
They needed to talk. Damn. These two were both childishly idiots.
He huffed before he spoke, "We need to get out of here."
His hands tightened on his words.
He sobered. "As much as I like to hear your sentiment, but I agree with you. We need to get out of here and save Minerva on time. This bullsh*ts should be stop. And you… Ayden, you should think faster other than saying those words. She's not here. We are not plainly stupid; we know what that bastard really wants. And he is just using you to get it."
"Get out of here and bring me saltwater."
"That's all you'll gonna say? Is that you're plan? Saltwater?"
Edmund thought twice before he spoke another word, contemplating the idea. It wasn't like Ayden to ask something nonsense at this point of time. He was an Atlantean and maybe he had a plan. He had to. But even though, it was so obvious that Ayden was scared for his sister, he suspected that there was more to this salt water. It must have or they would be screwed big time.
From his dungeon, Ayden gave him a blank stare, "Just do what I told. I'm asking you to save her life for me. I know it's too much but you're the only one that I can trust to. We don't have enough much time. I will answer your questions later. I know she's nothing to you, but she is to me. As a friend, please help me with this. It's the only way that I can do for her."
"You're wrong—"
He saw Ayden cocking his head towards his direction, "What do you mean?"
Edmund swallowed. "She is not just nothing to me."
