There he was. Last time I saw Eli was when he ran away from school 10 years ago. His shaggy black hair had only gotten longer, his muscles only more toned than they had been one known as a trouble maker an outcast, and one of the only people who didn't put up with Jacobs shit.
My twin was an ass. A twin in my family was rarer than snow on a summer's eve, and Jacob had been seen as the savior of the family. He had a mind for business and an even greater understanding of the art of pain. Slowly my family had disappeared leaving me dependent on a monster for life.
Eli turned to look at me with eyes that seemed to glow with darkness and danger. At least I thought it was Eli. I am hoping no one else decided to come out here tonight alone. The man started walking towards my red honda civic and so I made the choice to get out.
"Are you Eli?"
"Yes. Do you have the money?" Eliw answer was harsh.
"I have the $5,000 we agreed on. But I only brought half I put the rest somewhere which I will tell you once I get back safely to my car."
"That's not what we agreed on...Liv"
"I didn't want to take any chances."
All of a sudden E was right beside me staring me in the eyes, like a piece of prey. I didn't know what to do but then he spoke again.
"Give me what you have, and I'll give you what I have it not much."
The man didn't have an answer what use is finding the underground if they can't find anything?
"That is not what we agreed to your note said you knew, and what you didn't know you could find out. Don't lie to me I know that you have to know."
I was pissed I had waited for hours no weeks, and yet he knew nothing I had to know I needed to know why. I know Jacob wasn't a good guy, and that he was a horrible brother but I needed to know why I couldn't at least bury my brother why was I told he was killed by an animal in a bikers bar? Why was his body so disfigured I could only tell it was him by the ring on the finger. Why was the world like this?
"Hand over the money and I'll be on my way," E said.
If he didn't have answers then why should I pay him? I started backing away toward the car. I would find another way to find out the truth.
"You promised me that you would have a single name of who killed my brother and the reason why he died in such a way. If you don't have answers I don't have the money."
I turned and walked towards my car and he lunged after me. Then I made the greatest mistake of my life for the first time in my life I threw a punch at someone, and worse of all I made contact.
Eli went down on the ground my punch landed square in the nose. Blood gushed out from it covering his tank top in blood. His eyes glowed with anger and the only thing I could think of doing was to grab the envelope in his hand and run. So I bent down to grab the envelope and he caught my arm. As he held my arm he began to scream in pure agony. My own arm started to burn as the world went black.
