Three pairs of shining eyes locked onto the injured commander as he struggled to remove himself from the demons stacked onto him. His single eye twitched with an ominous feeling the moment he perceived the excitement from the other side.
Shivers ran down his aching spine as he quickly wrapped both arms around his chest. Glaring at them in alertness, he snarled, "what are you looking at!" You think I won't beat you guys up? He'll gouge their eyes out if they dare to look any further! Although he might be a little weaker than the three of them combined, he.....he really can't fight back if they decide to gang up on him.
However, not backing down without a fight, the commander recovered his weapon and aimed the tip of his sword towards the building on the opposite side. "Surnamed Chu! Don't think I'm afraid of you! It was only because you used such cheap tricks that I got caught. Nonetheless, this time will be different! This time I'm aware of your dirty nature and will employ more cautiousness towards more underhand tricks."
Taking a step forward, the commander's loud roar rang into the ears of every uneasy demon in the field. "Demons, listen to my voice! Our enemy is only a group of not even near sixty! What can they do to us, an army of hundreds? Raise your arms and fight! Today, we shall take back our loss from thousands of years ago and slain the enemies that block our path of the king!"
Hearing the roar of their leader, the demons who lost their confidence when witnessing their leader fly across the air in an arc, slowly regained their lost vigor. Loud chants erupt in the area as they ready to attack. Swords gleam under the glare of the sun akin to the shining of stars in a starry night. The build up of tension and energy gradually occupy the atmosphere once again.
Watching the show with interest, Chu Nuan crouched down on the ground with a piece of potato chip hanging loosely on her lips. The crunching of thin chips and rustling of plastic became buried under the loud shouting on the other side.
"How confident of them." Nan Hai chuckled as he shifted the bag of opened chips and offered the bag of melon seeds towards Chu Nuan's outstretched hands.
"They forgot how badly they lost millenniums ago." Blackie yawned with a lazy stretch. "Why are we dragging on this fight? It's not really your style."
"Kacha!" Chu Nuan bit into another chip fed by Nan Hai before cracking into the seeds on her hand. "Waiting."
"For what?"
Her almond eyes glanced briefly at the figure hidden in the corners of the other building. Those purple pupils of his were also looking at her direction, entreating for her patience. "Kacha!" Retrieving her gaze she sighed, "waiting for the male lead."
Minutes passed and the demon army seemed to have finished their little performance. Confident in their raised morale, the commander turned his sights back at his enemies on the other side. Only to see a group of around fifty envoys all crouched to the ground snacking either on chips or melon seeds. The crunching of food that wasn't noticeable before became many times louder now that their army has calmed down.
Even more infuriating is the fact that those envoys from some unknown place, brought out binoculars and are watching them like a reality live. Chuckling and occasional conversation carried itself into their ears.
"Hey, how many can you take on?"
"They look weak, maybe around seventy?"
"Hey, hey, do you see that guy over there with the nose ring? It looks like it's made of gold, maybe I can sell it for some pocket money."
"Forget about that ring. Remember the drill, after Her Honor beats them all, we have to strip them clean. Male to the left and female to the right."
"Hey, gimme some chips. Katcha! We still have clean up to do later. Just save the energy."
Seeing the carefree attitude of the opposing side, veins bulge on the border of bursting, "Chu Nuan!!!" Forgoing any more possibility of communication, the demon army rushes forwards with the intent to kill.
"Hmph." Fusing spiritual energy into her right hand, Chu Nuan swung forward casually to the oncoming crowd. Melon shells wrapped in an indigo aura flew with unimaginable speed to the direction up front. Like bullets fired from a gun, those shells struck the first wave of soldiers and brought them down with either death or heavy injuries.
Stretching her stiff back after standing up, a wide grin painted Chu Nuan's face as she lifted her hand high in the air. Envoys shed the indolence from minutes ago and waited for their master's signal. All eyes trained themselves on the slender arm wrapped in an indigo chain.
"Attack!" The moment her hands slice down, the figures of all fifty or so envoys flash into the center of war. Swords and chains clash against one another as the collision of spiritual energy explodes like fireworks in the air. Without doubt, the war has truly begun.
As the leader of these two forces, Chu Nuan and the commander stood on opposite sides facing each other. Within the midst of colliding powers, only the area around those two remain eerily calm. Not one stray strike was able to land on their bodies before an invisible force reflects those attacks onto another direction.
"Do you think any of this has a point?" Chu Nuan asked with an indifferent tone as her eyes swept past the tides of battle.
A third of her subordinates went to engage in a battle against the demons on the streets. While a few others rescued humans caught in this turmoil. She follows the movement of her men as they send rescued innocents out of the boundaries dividing this space away from the mortal dimension before diving back into battle.
These are her people, these souls who are willing to leave their homes behind to follow her travel through three-thousand worlds. These poor souls that abandoned the kinship of others and swore loyalty under her feet. She gazed on with pride as they opened one path after another in the midst of enemy ranks.
"There is." The commander also surveyed the situation with coldness in his eyes. "For the sake of our king's awakening."
Blood from both parties spew into the air and fell like rain on a summer day. Painting the ground crimson, screams of pain and shouts with the will to live echo across the sky.
Under the cover of frenzy demons, Duanxian Yu stood away from plain sight. Holding onto a white umbrella under the sun, droplets of red rain fell on its nylon surface and bloomed into small red petals before dripping onto the ground.
His purple irises stare at the greying sky with emotionless persistence. Abiding his time like the slow forming of dark clouds in the sky, they became a perfect reflection of his feelings. Sorrowly dark and heavy as it overcast his cold body.
Piling bodies of the dead along the thick carpet of flowing blood grew in amount with each second pass. Standing in place wordlessly for a moment, Duanxian Yu, for the first time since entering the scene, took a firm step forward.
He threw the umbrella in his hand away with a slight flick of the wrist, allowing it to soar and disappear with the help of blowing wind. Without the guard of the parasol, his white dress shirt and hair soon became wet under the stench of heavy iron. Dyed in the color red, even the beauty mark under his eye seems to add a demonic charm to his already seductive face.
Narrowing his eyes, a light chuckle escaped from those thin pale lips of his. Running his fingers over the bangs covering his forehead, a low voice tinged with faint fatigue rang out and merged simultaneously to the noise of carnage. "It's time."
