Chereads / THEM! / Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

Two little boys ran out from their house to the garden not looking behind them, their dusty blond hair fringe jerk as the pound their little foot on the grassy floor, their dad was furious and needed to speak privately with their mother he had ask them to leave, they dare not disobey him.

It was a bright summer season, with butterflies hovering over the sun flowers in the garden, and birds singing an enchanting melody. The sun stood in the middle of the sky proudly shining.

One of the little boys wouldn't stop jumping and running around, while the other sat idle on the porch staring at their house and trying to understand why their parents hated each other so much.

"Come!" The jumpy boy screamed, to his gloomy twin brother. Who shook his head vigorously.

After an eternity of urging his brother to play, the boy finally gave up and play on his own.

The hyper child seize all his jumping and running, when he heard a voice say in a whisper. "Jump in the pool."

He turn around and saw his twin quiet brother heading towards the pool he too had heard the voice.

He ran and stood in front of his brother who frown.

"Push me!" He demanded with an evil grin. Of cause he didn't know what he was saying he just felt like hurting himself.

The small boy shook his head and back away.

"I said push me! Push me!" The other boy had started yelling in an inhuman tone, he spoke like three different persons speaking at a time. His eyes had turn black and a purple ring had appeared around his sockets.

"PUSH ME! PUSH ME! PUSH ME!" He screamed! it all happened so fast the little boy found his scary twin brother in the big pool, trying to swim out, he was just four. All the darkness in his eyes had vanished giving way to his innocence which stood in display.

"Help me! E! Help me!" The little boy struggle in the water. The other boy at the edge of the pool came closer with both hand wrapped around his body.

"I -I can't!" He stuttered with tears welling up in his eyes.

"Please! Help me! Please!" The little boy struggle once more with water splashing everywhere, the other boy had slam his eyes shut not been able to bear the pleads of his brother as his wet hair slap his face like flat worms and his hands batted in the water trying to keep him floating.

Then every struggle ceased and every single splashed stopped, the boy had sank in the pool and his brother couldn't see the bubbles anymore and couldn't hear his little voice in distress.

Just like the earth felt his soul leave the sky grew dark, the bird's melody ceased, and the butterflies were gone, it was just the silent garden, the dark sky and the little boy who was now staring at the pool with tears streaming down his cheeks.

His parents came running to the pool, his father sprang in the water and retrieve the body of his son, he placed the little boy on the floor and pushed his chest, he even tried to give him some air but all efforts were futile the boy had already given up to the ghost.

His mother was on the floor crying and screaming at the top of her lungs, his father had his head on his little wet chest once filled with the breath of life as he sobbed.

The other little boy stood in distance, feeling betrayed, neglected and guilty, his little heart couldn't bare the pain, he felt like it was his fault. His brother's voice was still echoing in his head, his pleads and cries, the sound of water splashing and his little choking sound.

Then he heard the voice in whispers saying, "end this, jump from the window and die, that way no one would blame you."

The little boy find himself executing the orders of the unknown voice he ran to the his room and courageously flung himself on the glass window, totally ignoring the loud sound of glass shattering and the pain the brought as the cut through his skin, all he heard was his mothers screams.

"Elieeeeeeeeeee!" She called out, then everything went black.

His gray eyes snapped opened in the dark and he was back to where he was resting his head on the wall in the tree house, she was still there the girl with fair marshmallow skin he had found unconscious in the woods. She was sound asleep, peacefully wrap in the blanket.

He got up silently and looked around. The fire in the chimney had quench, and the room was dark except for the deem light coming through the window.

"You pushed him!" He heard THEM again, they won't let him be! This is how he has been living since he was four, they won't stop, they can never stop they'll only grow worst till he draw his last breath just like his brother and mother.

"Help me! E! Help me!" He could hear his brother's voice and still recall how he was struggling in the pool his little hands trying to support him on the water.

He shook his head and took shaky breaths, those memories can never leave him they were his curse, his own burden.

He opened the window and climbed out to the little balcony he had made with his hands.

It was still early the sky was a light shed of purple with the red rays of the sun sticking out from the horizon.

He raised his shirt up enough to expose his stomach, he stare down at the whitish scar like fish bone, that started from the corner of his stomach to the other end, that same day they took his brothers life he got the scar from trying to commit suicide by jumping down the window, he had landed on the gardening tools, a large shovel cut through his stomach and there was blood everywhere, just like they wanted. Doctors said it was a miracle he'd survived, but he wished he had died instead.

He ran a hand on the scar one more time, before pulling his shirt down. He can't escape from THEM.

He took a while preparing his stuff, he needed to head back to the hell hole, and take the girl back to where she belongs, he was insecure around her, she was no ordinary!

He stood in front of her knocking his knuckles on the wall not too loud, that was enough to wake her up she shrink when she saw him too close.

"Let's go." He simply said before, pulling the door on the wooden floor opened and climbing down the ladder to the foot of the tree. Christy was so amazed and too exited to go home, she still didn't trust him, now she knew why there was no doors it was a tree house. She climbed down on her turn and followed behind him.

She gave him her address and soon enough she was on her porch, so excited as she was she didn't turn around till the door was opened and by then he had already left.

He went to his own residence, were he lived with a couple and their rebellious youth son.

He was greeted by the air of pure discord when he walk through the door of their home, Hector was yelling at Tina his wife and the argument was so violent, that their youth son was affected, he was trying to set the kitchen on fire while trying to fry an egg.

"There you are little scum!" Hector roared as he stumped to the boy who had his head down at the sight of him, he knew how much Hector hated the color of his eyes and how he had asked him to always hang his head low when ever he was present.

"Let him be! Can't you see how tired he is!" Tina yelled.

"Where the hell have you been huh?! My car needs to be fixed!" He ignored her and kept yelling at the kid who was not disrupted by it at all! All his life he had live with strangers with different attitude, worst than the one Hector was displaying, he had grown with the constant application of pain and mental abuse, he had become immune to it.

"After hitting him you asked him to leave the house have you forgotten?! Of cause! you spend your time on beers." Tina came in once gain.

"Shut the fuck up Tina! I know what I said he deserve what I did to him yesterday! He shouldn't have forgotten the money!"

"He is a human being with life and emotions you can't treat him like your slave and don't forget we are fostering him!" Tina called.

Hector scoff, "human with emotions you say, take a look at him, does he look like he has a soul? Or life? He is always lifeless and emotionless! something must be wrong with him, and I don't give a damn he is not my son!" He added.

"He is more better than Brad anyway." Tina said before heading upstairs having her husband run after her probably to complete their argument upstairs.

The boy was so drained from all the quarrels and fight with constant abuse from his foster parents, he head to his room and short the door behind him.

He was craving for it again, the voices were back in his head tormenting him.

"Grab it, you know you need this, you need to be relief from all the stress, you need to forget! you must end this!" They whispered.

He pulled his drawer opened pulling out his pain killer and best friend, he walked to the bathroom, and stood in front of the broken mirror.

He hummed a song under his breath as he slash his arm with the sharp razor, not feeling a bit pained, he was so use to it, it was like drug, once you take it you can't stop and you want more!

"T. H. E. M" each later he pronounced came with a cut from the razor. He felt relieved and happy to see the red liquid, his blood! creeping on his pale skin to the back of his arm and dropping on the sink tainting it.

He smiled at the blood evilly and kept humming. It was like another version of him or was it one of THEM!
