Elie
"How do you feel?" Christy grinned.
"Uh, a little bit okay." I got down from the skateboard. Again she had forced me to do something I didn't wanna do, not like I mind. She's like my guild.
"You're not bad on skateboard for a beginner. You're still on your feet not face down." She nodded to herself with a smug smile while rubbing her chin. "Let's sit for a while." She dragged me to a bench and we both plop down.
"Uh, about what happened in the lake yesterday." She cleared her throat not making eye contact with me. "I'm sorry."
"Why? You didn't do anything wrong, you just kissed me, I'm sorry for not kissing back, I... Don't know how." I finally admitted looking away as I blushed a little bit. I've never felt embarrassment till now, she is good at making me express a thousand emotions in seconds. I felt normal around her.
She laughed. "Sorry. Is just that all boys must know how to kiss. Never mind, what I was trying to say was it might lead to something else, you know we're just teens, we shouldn't do stuffs we might regret, and it's against the law of God some how, if we continue we might end up having you know, which is a big no! I know ai'm the one who -" she was ranting on blah blah blahs, I understood everything she said, I put my index finger on her lips hushing her.
"Hey! Don't cute me off!" She swat my hand away and shot me a glare.
"I understood what you said but don't move."
"Why?" She turned around and came face to face with the royal cobra.
"OH MY GOD!" She gasped with her eyes wide as saucer. I couldn't help but laugh. I can't remember the last time I laughed maybe when I was two. Christy makes me break my life rules, usually I don't laugh neither do I behave so freely and normally. When I'm around her I feel free and all the horrors of my pass are being shove to the back of my mind. The first time I saw her I didn't want to have anything to do with her, I saw like every normal teen girl with her makeup and outfit, but then I get to know her and I'm seeing a different person, she's got a golden heart, she's so brave and determined, she's really kind and a little too shy. She's unique in her kind.
"Stop laughing!" She jumps to my side. I shook my head while grabbing the animal.
"Hey you." I allowed it to wrap around the croak of my neck.
"Elie Tomlinson Griffin you'll drop that dangerous snake right this seconds!" She yelled making me laugh more.
"Yeah, yeah." I patted my dear friend before releasing it in the bush after instructing it not to hurt anyone.
"Why did you let it go? It will hurt people now!"
"You asked me to." I said innocently.
"What?!"
"I'm joking, it won't hurt anyone, I told him not to, believe me he does whatever I say."
She was just looking at me jaw down. "Huh?"
I took a deep breath, "I met that snake when I was twelve, it helped me escape from some bad guys so since then we're friends."
She gave me the 'you're crazy' look.
"Trust me chill."
"If you say so, but if anything happens I'll call the authorities on you! By the way why didn't you tell me a snake was on my shoulder?" She hit arm playfully. I was back to laughing again cause her reaction when she saw the snake came flashing in my mind.
I didn't noticed she was staring at me with a smile across her lips, when I did I ceased all laughing.
"Oh please don't stop, it almost took my life to make you laugh." She pulled out her phone. "This only happen once in a lifetime."
"Don't exaggerate. why the phone?" I pointed at the cell.
"Say cheese!" She pulled me close and took a picture, it all happened so fast, I didn't expect the flashlight, it almost blinded me.
I rubbed my eyes.
"Look at how cute you are." She brought her phone close so I could see, but I refused. I have too much hate for myself to see who I have become, the last time I saw my reflection I broke down and ended up hurting myself severely.
"You're really handsome when you laugh." She looked at the picture smiling.
My phone buzzed with a message drawing my attention, I picked it up.
A message from Hector. I sigh.
Bring your ass back here!
I push it back in my pocket, he doesn't worth my reply.
"Uh, Christy I gotta go."
"Why?" She whined.
"Got a message, maybe the social workers are back. See you soon." I turn around and left.
I hate leaving her, I will spend eternity with her if I could. But the sad truth is I'll never live long enough to date her. Each time she is around I always forget about THEM but once she's gone they come back full force hitting were it hurts. I just want to be free from this burden once and for all but the problem is, I don't know how, and I don't think I'll ever know how.
*****"**"
I used my key to open the door of my hell hole, as soon as I stepped in, all the little happiness in me faded, this house was really terrible, it held bad memories not much but yet they aren't good to remember.
The pickup truck and the keys had disappeared, Hector was not home yet, this was not the first time though, he would ask me to come like he was home but he wasn't, some of those bad times when I'd ignore the message thinking he isn't home. But he is I'll get beat up by him. Is so unfortunate to live like I do.
The sound of the ring bell, invaded my thoughts. I walk to the door and pulled it open thinking it was Hector but instead I was met with her beautiful face.
"Hey, sorry for coming like this, you forgot your skateboard." She held it out for me.
"Oh." I reach for it before pulling her in.
"You have to leave right now." The can't find you here, I'll suggest you take the back door no one ever come that way."
"Okay." I dragged her to the back door, she had almost made it out when Brad came in with his best friend Tobias from the back door that was the first time. I'm really cursed indeed.
"Look who we have here the little shit and his bitch." Brad grabbed Christy on the arm, she tries to break free but he only tightened his grips.
"She isn't a bitch." I said.
"I don't think I've ever hear you speak." He pushed Christy to Tobias who held her firmly against her wish.
He shoves me in the wall and punched me on the face. "You can't do anything! I'll call her what I want my bitch! Or bitch!" He yanked me to the floor as he delivered kicks to my face.
"Elie! Stop it! Let him go! Fat ass!" Christy roared.
They both laughed at her words. "I think I like her, the little chick protecting her boyfriend." Tobias said, only seeing him touch her made my blood boil.
I had blood pouring on the floor coming from my broken nose and bursted lips. I hated it when I was powerless, I couldn't defend her, is too risky they might decide to take control.
"You both are big monsters, how dare you hit him?" She struggled in Tobias's grips.
"Shut the fuck up bitch!" Steve stumped to her and shoved her, unlike me she couldn't with stand his push, she fell on the kitchen counter hitting her head in the process.
I'll never forget her loud earsplitting scream of pain.
"Shit! You pushed her too hard!" Tobias yelled.
She fell on the floor with a light thud, blood creep down her forehead and her eyes were shut.
Then all hell broke lose, I couldn't control THEM anymore, I just felt like killing the both of them and drink tea with their skull. They hit the only beautiful thing that ever happen to me, the hit the diamond of my eyes, the one reason I might want to make it out alive.
I wasn't responding to my action I got up and walked to them, I punch Brad on the stomach and moved on to Tobias who I grabbed on the neck and lifted him up before throwing him to the wall.
"You wanna fight huh?" Brad got up and wiped his nose then launching towards me. I grabbed him by his hair and punched him several times on the face, I didn't give a damn to his bleeding face, I wanted him dead! I moved on to his chest trying to break all his rib cages.
"E..lie.. no." She called out in a horse voice before passing out. Her voice was able to stop THEM, I needed to safe her, I returned back to my spirit and ran to her. I picked her up she was still breathing just knocked out.
Brad and Tobias but laid on the floor passed out. I resist the urge to burn the house down with them still in it.
I grabbed his keys and drove Christy to the hospital, she was admitted in the emergency room, the nurses told me she would be fine, I sent a message to her mother through her phone and left.
I was not close to done with Brad, I must put him in a critical state, I'll make him pay for each of his actions, the word pity is not in my vocabulary. If possible I'll bury him alive.
