Chapter 61 - |sixty-one|

|JiSu's POV|

"I don't know—I don't think we have anything planned. Why?" JiSu asks hesitantly.

"We have a concert tonight. You're going to perform with me. Which means we have to leave—now." TaeHyung grabs JiSu's arm and drags her toward the door.

"Wait—I don't have an outfit or anything." JiSu objects as she looks to us for help.

"What color?" ChanHyuck asks TaeHyung—not at all concerned with JiSu's opinion.

"White. As soon as we get to the venue I'll send you a picture of mine." TaeHyung calls as he leads JiSu out into the hall.

"Are you really letting this happen? He just kidnapped JiSu and you let him." Aera mumbles as she peeks out the door after them.

"She'll be fine. He'd mentioned something about wanting to perform with her next week or something. I'm sure he has something put together for them to do. He's a smart and talented kid. She's really talented, too. I'm sure they'll make it work." ChanHyuck reassures us as he slips his laptop into its case and heads toward the door.

"What are we supposed to do? Is this even going to work? What if it makes it worse?" NaHee asks as SunMi and I stand awkwardly in the background.

I don't know what to say. It all happened so fast. All I can think about is how hard this is going to be on JiSu. We have to be up early tomorrow for rehearsal and she has to perform tonight. Who knows how long she's going to be stuck there?

"It'll work." ChanHyuck insists as he makes his way down the hall toward the wardrobe room.

"What's he going to put her in? We have like three outfits each. She doesn't have a white one either." SunMi mumbles as she slips out of my grasp.

"There's only one person with a white costume." Aera states as all eyes fall on me.

"ChanHyuck can't afford to buy her a new one." NaHee sighs as they all inch closer to me.

"She can wear mine—will it fit though? She's taller than me." I mumble as I hesitantly step backwards. They're closing in on me mighty fast.

"It'll fit. The leotard is stretchy. If the skirt is a little short it won't really matter." NaHee nods joyously as she clasps her hands together.

"Let's go get it ready for her!" Aera grabs my hand and drags me toward the door.

"Wait!" SunMi calls out as she stares down at her phone.

"What?" Aera drops my hand and moves toward her as she turns her phone for us to see.

"He won't want her to go over the top. If he's doing a duet with her, he's going to do it on her terms. Our best bet is going through her clothes. She has some white pieces. We can always mix and match them with our own. We're all pretty close in size, so everything should fit." SunMi explains as she shows us TaeHyung's outfit.

Without warning, her phone starts ringing.

"Hello?" She immediately puts it on speaker.

"Change of plans. That outfit is a no go. We need something more JiSu. I'm thinking something pink and sparkly. I'm wearing white now. She needs to stick out. She said something about a sequin dress in her closet that might work. Can you guys grab it and bring it by for us?" TaeHyung asks as JiSu complains in the background, clearly nervous beyond belief for a performance she hasn't had the chance to even attempt yet.

"Wait—the dress she wore for that big party she went to a few years ago? Can she even dance in that?" I ask as I recall the exact dress he's talking about.

"I have a better idea. Can you send me a picture of your new outfit? There's a dress I've been eyeing for her for awhile now and I think it just may be the time to pick it up." SunMi speaks up as she heads toward the table to grab her purse.

"Yeah, of course. Just hurry up please. We have to put together a whole performance in less than four hours." TaeHyung leaves his trust in SunMi as he hangs up.

"We have a mission girls. You two, go home and grab that dress from the closet. There's a chance the store doesn't have the dress I'm thinking of anymore. She'll need a backup. Make sure you grab some white safety shorts. YeSeul, you're coming with me. You two are almost exactly the same size. We have to make sure it's a perfect fit. There's no time for alterations." SunMi grabs YeSeul's hand and drags her away.

"We need to go get ChanHyuck and tell him what's going on. He's probably freaking out." I mumble as Aera paces back and forth before looking up at me.

"You're right. I'm going to the van, you grab ChanHyuck and meet me out there. We have to get going if this is even going to be a possibility." Aera explains as she heads down the hall toward the stairs.

"ChanHyuck!" I rush down the hall the way he disappeared.

I stop abruptly as I notice the dressing room door is open. ChanHyuck sits on the stool, his face in his hands. I hesitantly inch forward and push the door open quietly.

"Huh—oh, JuHee. What's up? Did he send the picture of his outfit?" ChanHyuck attempts to collect himself in front of me.

"It's gonna be okay. We'll make it work. We already have an outfit in mind for her and a backup. SunMi went to get the one and we need you to take us to get the other. JiSu's got this. She's a pro." I place my chin on his shoulder and stare at our reflection in the mirror.

"I hope you're right. This is really my last chance at life. I put everything I have into this. If we go down from a couple of rumors, I'm done for. Where do I need to take you guys?" ChanHyuk manages to calm himself down enough to get to his feet.

"We need to go home. JiSu has a dress at home that should work as a backup if SunMi's falls through." I take his hand in mine and squeeze as I smile up at him reassuringly.

It's going to work out. I trust them all. TaeHyung included.
