(Robin's POV):
The hands of Arcturus started emitting blue light which is mostly arcana magic that's thickened down. I dashed forward and tried to slash Arcturus in half. He simply held my Mana Breaker and deflected it upwards and missed his head by a little after he bent down from the side. Damn, an acrobatic enemy.
I launched a kick and tried to follow up using Mana Phaseblade. When I noticed, the hand that Arcturus used to deflect lost its light. That simply means that I can lessen the effects of the magic damage it could inflict.
I slashed him using the Mana Phaseblade this time but it completely missed as Arcturus dodged it flawlessly. So I have to land attacks with these swords...
I dashed back and fired a few beams of light. He created a small mana barrier that blocked all the lasers I fired off towards him. Chih! Troublesome!
"Looks like you can't land a hit as you are right now. Well then, my turn." - Arcturus
If there is one thing I'm great at, it's overwhelming my enemies. However my defense is also pretty great.
I dashed back and tried to fend off Arcturus by making swift dodges. He launches a few quick strikes which are infused with so much arcane magic. I had to avoid all these or block them with Mana Breaker to prevent instant damage to my body.
"Searing Blades!"
I brought out three searing blades and hid Mana Phaseblade to replace it with my revolver. I then dashed to my left to avoid a painful kick enhanced with arcane magic. So either this guy enhances itself or some other guy tries to boost him...
I took a chance since he made a high kick to form a counter attack that will surely land properly. I surrounded him with searing blades and tried to attack him from all sides. He bent his body well to the point where it looks almost impossible to react quickly. I only damaged him by making a follow up kick to his knee which damaged him nicely.
"Khh! Heh!" - Arcturus
When I tried to make another follow up with Mana Breaker, he simply held the sword by the edge and moved it away. What...
When I had noticed, his entire body is seemingly coated with a fading light blue light. At that point I had noticed that he's protected by a barrier that can bypass any form of mana. Most likely a barrier made up of celestial energy.
Collecting zodiacs according to Seymour gives a very powerful feat which allows you to use a new type of energy. That in which is called Celestial Energy, this energy has a separate pool aside from mana and energy and is a powerful force to deal with.
"Ha! I guess you have noticed by now." - Arcturus
"Yeah, you're gonna be a pain to deal with."
With his ability to gain an invulnerability shield whenever he takes damage for some time. At that point, follow up attacks will be almost ineffective since he can dodge everything easily. Another issue is that, he has high damage judging by his splash damage earlier. So I may have to rely on sneaky tactics, but he doesn't look like he wants me to live.
"Everyone, kill these intruders." - Arcturus
Various people with arcane magic started piling around in various spots. Aside from normal swordsmen that are reaching about high levels, high power mages also show up above the town walls. Crap, this may be a major trouble for me.
I had no other choice but to bring out everything I have right now. I hid my Mana Phaseblade and brought out my revolver to get through my situation. Before I started shooting down the enemies, one person fell down from the wall after I heard a loud rifle shot.
When I turned for a second, Jay was setting himself up in his position to fight as the backline. Goddamnit, I told you to run.
I turned back and noticed two swordsmen about to slash me down. I dashed back and fired two rounds from my revolver and pierced their bodies with it. I then kicked one away and slashed the other in half. Arcturus then came in suddenly with an enhanced sweep kick while trying to land a hit with an enhanced fist. Great...
I swiftly dodged it to the side and let Jay try to land hit on him. I sent out a small light while signals Jay to fire which he did. We landed a damaging shot that gouged through Arcturus's shoulders which made him dash back for the time being. After that, he started drinking a potion while having that celestial energy protect him from further damage. Damnit, so we're stuck with fighting against a guy with temporal invincibility...
If I remember correctly, celestial energy is an unlimited stock for use, so he keeps it active at all times. Fighting against him alone will be a troublesome feat.
A bunch of arcane magic appeared trying to blast me down pretty quickly. I slashed most of these down with my Mana Breaker but some passed above me and was aimed towards Jay. Crap, I have to deal with those.
I loaded dispersion bullets and fired them accurately towards the flying arcane balls. After dispersing the attacks towards Jay, I immediately turned back to the front and saw two swordsmen with enhanced swords. I parried one with Mana Breaker and deflected it to a different spot. I fired another bullet to deflect the other swordsman finely and recovered a good stance. Arcturus dashed in again with full health and landed a small surprise attack against me with an enhanced fist. Crap...
I dashed back and prepared another powerful ability that is not aimed towards the annoying guy with a timed barrier. I patiently waited for the other enemies to appear before launching a powerful magic to eliminate them.
"What's wrong?! You can't fight that easily anymore?!" - Arcturus
I swear, this guy's mouth is running around and it's pretty tiring just to hear it.
He launched a few strikes which I'm slowly learning how he utilizes his follow-ups. Slowly but surely I managed to start defending more fluidly than way earlier where I have to analyze the enemy's fighting style.
"Come on! Why aren't you trying to fight back?! Getting cold feet? Then I'll have you swarmed!" - Arcturus
I made a swift counterattack by launching a high kick which he blocked. The actual counterattack is my revolver firing a bullet through his chest from a terrible angle.
"Khh! Wh-where?!" - Arcturus
The celestial barrier appeared once again which made Arcturus dash back in panic. He started gulping down some potions while trying to get rid of the bullet that stayed in his body. Heh, I might as well.
"Ignition!"
I made the bullet inside Arcturus's body to start burning itself in fire. He started agonizing in pain as there was no way to get rid of something inside. After a short time, the bullet dispersed and the fire inside his body died down. Arcturus knelt down in pain, which gave me a signal that it dealt substantial damage. Even if I have him in the backline for a while, I have another problem of the other players surrounding me while some are aiming for Jay.
Well, this ain't good. Good thing I prepared something.
I brought out Heaven's Beacon to replace Mana Breaker. I pointed it towards the wall and fired a charged Searing Light towards it. The stone wall melted down and burned multiple players off. Learn to dodge.
The ones coming after Jay somewhat stopped to see the catastrophe that occurred on their town wall. They looked incredibly frustrated and started charging towards me instead. Good... Come marching to your death.
I waited for the time they get really close until I poured even more mana to Heaven's Beacon. Arcturus was somewhat angered with the wall which he started using ranged magic while drinking a potion to restore the damage to his body.
"Blinding Light!"
I raised my sword up high which Jay noticed. He fired a bullet towards Arcturus while I fired various bullets to cover the gunshot. I eliminated a few swordsmen while Jay landed another clean hit towards Arcturus.
The swordsmen around me were blinded and had lost a few numbers. The mages above the wall started to hesitate whether to fire or not which gave me enough time for recovery. The swordsmen covering their eyes were immediately sliced in half by myself and moved towards the next server.
Only two blinded swordsmen were left when I saw Arcturus panicking while drinking another potion. Props to you I haven't used Justice yet, but regardless... I'll keep an eye just in case he has some tricks inside him.
I fired two bullets towards the blinded swordsmen and killed them off. At this point, the blinding effect had worn off so the magicians started firing magic towards Jay once again. Just like last time, I loaded my revolver with dispersion bullets and cleaned off the attacks towards Jay. Without noticing, Arcturus was already behind me trying to land another powerful strike.
I was hit on the back with a fully enhanced fist which dealt a severe pain towards my insides. Jay fired a bullet which I reacted by falling down. Arcturus thought it was me falling so he received another clean hit.
"Khh!" - Arcturus
"Heh, fell to my trap."
I stood back up quickly as Arcturus knelt down from the damage of the sniper rifle. The damage we dealt in total is pretty big but he lost only a little bit of his health which is pretty problematic.
"Wrong, you're checkmated here, Lightcaster! Overcharge!" - Arcturus
Before we knew it, instead of casting a ranged attack... He was actually preparing to go for overdrive...
