Too heavy to carry and hard to rouse
Repetitive works, but the eyes never open all the way
Sleep clings closely and assistance is the only encouragement
When someone pulls you up from the couch
And waits for your balance to set
But you walk a few steps still hand in hand
Sure enough before you get very far
A sudden pitch to the side that would have taken you down
Was prevented because you both just knew
That sleep deprivation wouldn't make it so easy
Once again simply weakened to gravity
Though after that moment, it would pass
A smile of thanks and a yawn that shakes
Meandering your way to the cozy nest of your bed
Going back to that world of dreams and finding peace in the REM
