"Be your character" they say
As the lights dim and everyone assumes their places
As the curtains go up and I hear my cue I visualize her pain, her suffering
Her untold burden, her situation similarity
I surrender my false nature as
Everything and everyone fades away
This is who I am and will forever be
Sadly, this is the only relief I get
Through the camera, lights and set
The authenticity of my passion
The intensity of my grief
The bluntness of my act
All bubbling to the surface without tact
But all too soon the society-made role returns
Be who everyone wants and needs me to be
Even though I'm everything but, I want to be set free
