Hello everybody, Mr. Author here! Still remember me? Probably not, but that's not what I'm gonna talk about here. What I'm going to tell you right now is that only now have I taken notice of the state of my novel and how it took me 3-4 months to announce and publish this hiatus notice out my chest, yeah, I hope you guys will understand as always!
(A TL;DR note at the end, if you don't want to read all this xD)
During just the second month of publications, August, everything really started to deteriorate. I started to frequently publish notices regarding not settling on a new consistent post schedule. You could probably see the same thing on my author's thoughts, one of the things that I love about making a chapter, not just because of the sympathy I get in the comments which really cheer me up, and not just because of typing an "I hope you understand." on my keyboard, but because I can update you guys the same time I make the accompanying chapter. If you noticed my usual reasoning, it's either school, school, school, or me indirectly telling you guys that it's just laziness and that I just want some time for myself to let the pressure out of my fingers, which ended poorly.
Anyways, put that aside. The reason I "abandoned" this novel is because of, well, online school! Since the first few days of August, I started cutting corners and splitting each and every chapter into two parts, the reason being that we've already been half-way through the first quarter and of the insane amount of work we've been assigned to every single DAY! I couldn't bare with it for long, so I squeezed out some of the (personally, or you too?) most painful to read filler chapters I've seen in a while. The pressure started to get to me within a few weeks, until I eventually dropped the latest QAD chapter and then left it alone, for that time, that is.
And so basically, here's what I'll be planning to do. Either I resume writing right now with no schedule(meaning I'll be making chapters when I have the right time and energy to, possibly more frequently when the holiday breaks are here), or I resume this novel and accept the Webnovel contract once school ends(I'll probably be planning a novel storyboard for the chapters instead of pantsing everytime, which is the kind of writing I kept doing since the very first word, piecing the things together and bringing out "surprises" as the stories goes, not just for you amazing people, but for me too. I don't know if I would've kept "Emie's Fiery Fingers of Doom" inside the story without my strange tangled mind pantsing that out.!) so I would maximize the quality of the upcoming chapters and leave room for some drama(I don't know if I could still sprinkle drama into a fluff story, though.) sequences for a start of a conflict. Suggestions are always welcome!
TL;DR - Online school pressured me waaaay too much, and now I don't know if I will stick with creating the story as it goes, while I'm studying, or if I should flesh out and plan the story during free time as I'm studying, then pulling it all out of my bag once school ends. I feel like this is really hard for me to pick between. On the first one it'd really be a pain to do it while I'm trying to focus on my studies everyday, it'll likely stay like how my publishing quality deteriorated during August, and once it gets to a farther chapter things would start to fall apart again, story-wise. Probably a few unchecked plotholes, boring development of characters, things that I don't even know yet. (There's just a chance, emphasize chance.); and on the other hand it would really suck for you guys to wait half a school year before I start posting again.. but some of you guys would probably forget about this novel half-way through lol.
If you have any suggestions on what I should do, leave it on the comment I left on chapter 22. Thank you for your time and continuous support from time and time again. I love you guys.
