End of DayZ # 1
PAGE ONE
Panel One: There is a long and empty road that has forests on both sides of it.
Panel Two: A pair of feet walk onto the road.
Christian: (Sighs)
Panel Three: Christian's face is revealed as he looks down the empty road.
Christian: I'll never get over how quiet it is now…
Panel Four: Christian turns his head two see two zombies slowly making their way to him as he places his hand on his sheathed hunting knife.
Christian: I guess you guys are to thank for that, huh?
Panel Five: Christian unsheathes his knife with a reluctant expression.
Christian: Let's get this over with…
PAGE TWO
Panel One: Christian walks off the road towards the forest leaving behind the two dead zombies behind him.
Panel Two: Christian is in the forest as he treks through the dense area.
Panel Three: Christian looks up at the nearly dark sky and rubs his forehead.
Christian: Shit… I lost track of time.
Panel Four: A gunshot is heard and Christian's expression changes to alerted.
Panel Five: Christian begins running towards the direction of the gunshot.
Christian: Please be okay!...
PAGE THREE
Panel One: A few moments later. Jade is holding her handgun up with smoke leaving the barrel. She has an annoyed expression.
Jade: Perfect! You just had to try and show off!
Panel Two: Jasi is scratching his head with a nervous grin as a zombie lies dead next to him.
Jasi: Nice shot! I forget how slippery these bastards can be…
Panel Three: Jade walks up to Jasi angrily. Jasi looks surprised by her demeanor.
Jade: We can't afford to be careless! Do you realize that it only takes one bite?! One scratch?! Don't toy with them! Just kill them and move on!
Jasi: I'm sorry, babe. I didn't mean to worry you like that…
Panel Four: Jade pushes Jasi lightly.
Jade: Don't "babe" me! We can't take chances like that anymore! I'm not going lose you because you were trying to be funny!
Jasi: Calm down! I won't fuck around anymore! The mood around here has been depressing lately and I just wanted to lighten things up.
Panel Four: A twig snaps and Jade aims her gun in the direction of the noise.
Panel Five: Christian stands looking at them.
Christian: If you two are done arguing, we need to move. That gunshot is going to bring more dead here.
PAGE FOUR
Panel One: Jade walks past Christian and avoids eye contact.
Jade: Blame him. It was his fault.
Panel Two: Jasi walks up to Christian with a small frown.
Jasi: She's right, Christian. It's my bad.
Christian: Just be more careful, alright? We're all each other has.
Panel Three: Jade is leading the way through the woods with an annoyed expression as Christian and Jasi follow behind.
Christian: You really did it this time, Jasi…
Jasi: No shit. I've never seen Jade this pissed off…
Panel Four: A few hours later. The setting shows the outside of an abandoned gas station. The sky is dark with the stars above.
PAGE FIVE
Panel One: Inside the gas station is Christian sitting on the counter next to the empty cash register. He's keeping watch outside through the front windows.
Panel Two: Jade is in the bathroom in the back looking at her reflection in a mirror.
Panel Three: Jade is pouring water from her bottle onto a rag as Jasi enters the bathroom.
Jasi: Are you still pissed at me?
Jade: I'm tired, Jasi…
Panel Four: Jasi walks up behind her with a concerned look as she washes the back of her neck with the rag.
Jasi: I just wanted to check in on you, babe. I've never seen you that mad like you were today.
Jade: That should tell you how serious I was…
Panel Five: Jasi slowly puts his hands around her waist as she stays facing the mirror.
Jasi: I was a dumb-ass. I should've known better. Besides… you had my back.
Jade: I may not always be there when it happens… I don't want to lose you. I've lost enough people as is…
PAGE SIX
Panel One: Jade turns around and hugs Jasi.
Jade: No more stupid shit, Jasi!
Jasi: No more stupid DANGEROUS shit… I'm still going to be a goofball in safe situations.
Panel Two: Jade grins as she puts her hands on his face.
Jade: Let's see how long this promise lasts…
Panel Three: Jade and Jasi kiss passionately.
Panel Four: Christian stands up off the counter to observe outside with a curious expression.
Panel Five: Christian sees a blonde-haired woman running along the road. She has some bruises on her face and a busted lip. She looks panicked.
Panel Six: Christian approaches the door but stops when he sees two shadowed individuals follow behind her.
PAGE SEVEN
Panel One: The point of view switches to Lora running inside a forest. She is hyperventilating as she runs.
Panel Two: A bullet flies in and grazes her calf. She screams in pain.
Lora: AHHHHHHH!
Panel Three: Lora falls to the ground and starts crawling. Tears run down her cheeks and there is the sound of twigs snapping behind her.
Lora: P- Please! Don't!
Man#1: How could we let a fine piece of ass like that get away?...
Panel Four: Two men walk up behind her looking rough and dirty. They have twisted grins as they lay their eyes on Lora.
Man#2: It's been a while since we had a cute one!
Lora: STOP! PLEASE!
Panel Five: The first man gets on top of her from behind. She screams and pleads for him to stop.
Lora: AHHHHHHHH! GET OFF OF ME!!
Man#1: Keep begging, bitch! I like them like that!
PAGE EIGHT
Panel One: The man grabs the back of her jeans and pulls them down reveling her naked rear. He's still grinning maniacally as she begins sobbing.
Man#1: Oh yeah! This is going to be good!
Panel Two: The second man peeks from behind them and he also is still grinning.
Man#2: Hurry it up! I'm getting riled up waiting for you!
Panel Three: A bullet hits the back of the second man's head as he starts falling over to the side. The first man is shocked at the sight.
Man#1: What the fuck?!
Panel Four: Christian stands a few feet behind the first man and Lora. His handgun is aimed at the first man.
Christian: Get off of her… Now!
Panel Five: The man gets up with his arms raised. He raises an eyebrow when he looks at Christian.
Man#1: Easy… How about I let you go first? Will that get you to lighten up?
PAGE NINE
Panel One: Christian walks over to Lora, who is still laying down crying. His gun is still pointed at the first man. Christian looks down at Lora.
Christian: Are you alright?
Lora: (sniffles) No…
Panel Two: The man smirks as he takes a step closer.
Panel Three: The smirks leaves his face as he is shot in his crotch region. He begins screaming in agony.
Man#1: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! YOU SON OF A BITCH!
Panel Four: The man falls to the ground holding his crotch as Christian helps up Lora.
Man#1: AHHHHHHHH! OH GOD!
Christian: It's okay now. Can you walk?
Lora: My leg…
Panel Five: Christian puts her arm around his neck. She tries wiping her tears away with her other hand.
Christian: Don't worry. I got you.
Lora: Th-Thank you…
PAGE TEN
Panel One: Lora turns her head to see the first man thriving in pain. She has a blank expression.
Man#1: AHHHHHHHHHH!
Lora: What about him?...
Christian: The dead can have him.
Panel Two: Lora and Christian are in front of the gas station. Jasi and Jade coming running out.
Jade: What the hell happened?! Who is this?!
Christian: I didn't get her name… There were these two guys and they… Well, they tried to have their way with her.
Panel Three: Jade takes her arm from Christian. Jasi stands next to him.
Jade: I'll take her inside!
Jasi: Should we expect company?
Panel Four: Jade starts walking Lora inside, but Lora turns her head back to Jasi and Christian.
Christian: I took care of the two but I'm not sure if they were apart of a bigger group or not.
Lora: They weren't… I'm positive of it.
Panel Five: Jade has taken Lora inside and the focus remains on Jasi and Christian.
Jasi: You should've let us know. We could've backed you up.
Christian: I didn't have time to think. I should have, but I didn't want to risk losing them by going and getting you guys.
Panel Six: Jasi smirks and looks back at the gas station.
Jasi: Well, I'm not Jade. I'm not going to scold you for taking that risk. It all worked out in the end, so…
Christian: It was still a stupid thing to do. I should've brought you all with me. I could've gotten myself killed too.
Jasi: You saw someone who needed help and acted on it. So, stop dwelling on the past. What's done is done.
PAGE ELEVEN
Panel One: Lora and Jade are sitting in the restroom. Jade is wiping the blood off of Lora's graze wound with a rag. Lora's expression is still blank. Jade looks at her with a concerning look.
Jade: I'm Jade. What's your name?
Lora: Lora…
Panel Two: Jade lowers the rag.
Jade: Your cuts and bruises will take some time to heal, but I think you're going to be fine. It's just a graze wound as well so I'll wrap that up for you.
Lora: …
Panel Three: Jade is looking inside her backpack next to Lora. Lora's eyes wonder around the restroom.
Jade: Are you hungry? We have a decent amount of food.
Lora: How long have you guys been here?...
Panel Four: Jade puts her backpack to the side and looks at Lora curiously.
Jade: We just got here. Why?
Lora: I was here the other day… No one else was here so I laid low for a few days. I was out looking for a new place when those men…
Panel Five: Jade puts her hand on Lora's shoulder. Lora looks upset as Jade gives her a sympathetic look.
Jade: You don't have to explain. You're safe now. We won't let anything happen to you.
Lora: I'm sorry!...
Jade: Don't be.
PAGE TWELVE
Panel One: Very earlier the next morning. The sun has barely risen outside of the gas station.
Panel Two: Lora wakes up in the back of the store.
Panel Three: Lora sits up and sees Jasi and Jade sleeping side by side next to her.
Panel Four: She stands up and notices Christian still sitting on the counter next to the cash register. He's still watching the outside.
Panel Five: Lora walks up to Christian as she scratches her arm. Christian keeps his focus outside.
Lora: You're not tired?
Christian: I am…
Panel Six: Christian turns his head and has a grin. Lora is surprised to see the grin.
Christian: Last night was my turn to be a lookout. It's a pain, but it's a small price to pay for everyone's safety.
PAGE THIRTEEN
Panel One: Lora walks up to one of the front windows. Christian looks at her as she does.
Christian: How are you feeling?
Lora: Better… Not much, but still better. Thank you again.
Christian: It was a shitty situation. That doesn't mean you have to thank me for it. I would gladly help you again.
Panel Two: Lora looks back at Christian with a small grin. Christian looks at her speechlessly.
Lora: You don't understand. This world lost a lot of good people when the dead rose. And those who were good and survived changed somewhere along the way. It's nice to see not all of them did.
Panel Three: Lora faces the window again.
Lora: So, thank you for not just saving me, but remaining who you are as well.
Christian: Believe it or not, I wasn't always brave guy here today. After the world fell apart, I did change…
Panel Four: Christian looks down with a frown as Lora turns her head back to look at him.
Christian: I just hate that it took the end of world to change me for the better.
Lora: It's better late than never. You shouldn't feel ashamed of something like that. In fact, you should be proud of the man you've become… I barely know you, but I'm grateful to now know you.
PAGE FOURTEEN
Panel One: Jasi walks up to them yawning and scratching his head.
Jasi: (yawns) Morning guys. How's it looking out there?
Christian: Clear. How was the beauty sleep?
Jasi: Amazing. You should try it sometime.
Christian: I'll be sure to next time since it will be your turn to be lookout.
Panel Two: Jade walks up behind Jasi. She's adjusting her hat.
Jade: What's the plan for today? Still heading north or are we resting still?
Christian: I'm not sure. I was waiting for everyone to be awake so we could discuss it.
Jasi: I wouldn't mind another day of rest…
Panel Three: They all look at Lora, who is confused by the attention.
Lora: What is it?
Jade: You're a part of our group now, right? You should get a say in what we do.
Lora: I'm not sure��
Christian: What were you doing before we found you? Were you heading somewhere specific?
Panel Four: Lora's eye's narrow. She has a small frown.
Lora: I was looking for my family… I was on vacation with a few friends when everything went to hell. I manage to get home and my finance was just gone. Clothes were missing and there was no sign of a break-in, so I figured he got out. It was the same for my parent's home too.
Jasi: Not to sound pessimistic, but that's like looking for a needle in a haystack… except instead of hay, it's the dead.
PAGE FIFTEEN
Panel One: Jade rolls her eyes and lightly smacks the back of Jasi's head.
Jasi: Hey!
Jade: I don't agree with his phrasing, but he is technically right.
Lora: I agree, but I can't turn my back without trying to find them first. Why are you guys heading north?
Christian: We heard there were settlements there. Whether they're still there or not, we're not sure.
Panel Two: Lora crosses her arms and looks at them all.
Lora: So, one could say you're also looking for needles in an undead haystack?...
Panel Three: Jasi, Jade, and Christian look at one another with slightly surprised expressions.
Panel Four: They look back at Lora. Jasi and Christian smirk.
Jasi: Well played…
Christian: Who's to say we can't look for them AND head north?
Jade: I agree. We'll need to be careful, but I don't see why we couldn't.
Panel Five: Christian claps his hands together.
Christian: It's settled! Once Lora is healed up and feeling better, we can hit the road again. Any objections?
Jade: Nope.
Jasi: Sounds good to me.
Lora: Thank you, guys!
PAGE SIXTEEN
Panel One: A few days later. Christian, Jasi, Lora, and Jade are walking together on a road. Jade stands next to Christian and Jasi next to Lora behind them. Jade looks back at Lora.
Jade: Are you sure your leg isn't bothering you? We'd understand if you need to rest longer.
Lora: I'm fine. If anything, I prefer to get some fresh air.
Jasi: Amen…
Panel Two: The four continue walking we they see two zombies ahead of them.
Christian: Dead ahead!
Panel Three: Christian reaches for his blade as Jade stops him.
Jade: I got it.
Christian: Okay…
Jasi: Be careful, babe!
Panel Four: Jade pulls out her knife and jogs over to the two zombies. One zombie is ahead of the other.
Panel Five: Jade stabs the first zombie in the head with no trouble.
Panel Six: Jade quickly kicks the legs of the second zombie, and it falls to the ground.
Panel Seven: She stabs the fallen zombie in the head.
Jasi: That's my girl!
PAGE SEVENTEEN
Panel One: The four are still walking on the road. Jade and Jasi are now in the back holding hands a several feet behind Christian and Lora. Lora looks back at them with a grin as they are busy talking to each other to notice.
Lora: They're cute together.
Christian: Yeah… you say that now. I'm just glad there's a new member to the group because being a third wheel was getting old.
Panel Two: Lora looks at Christian with a curious grin.
Lora: Feeling lonely?
Christian: Don't get me wrong. I'm happy for them, but let's see how you feel when you overhear them… If you know what I mean.
Panel Three: Lora's eyes widen in surprise. Christian keeps looking forward but smiles as they walk.
Lora: How often does that happen?!
Christian: I'm pretty sure they were doing it before I brought you back to the gas station.
Lora: If that's true, they haven't since then…
Christian: I'm sure they were just being courteous for our new member…
Panel Four: Lora looks forward as she sighs. Christian now looks at her with a grin.
Lora: (sighs) I guess I have that to look forward to now…
Christian: Don't worry. I've gotten pretty good at telling when they're about to do it. We can go out scouting or something when they decide to.
Panel Five: They reach a small gated radio tower on the side of the road.
PAGE EIGHTEEN
Panel One: They start to climb over the gated fence.
Panel Two: They start walking towards the small square building next to the radio tower.
Christian: Stay close, guys.
Panel Three: Jasi and Jade approach the door to the building with their guns drawn. Christian takes out his gun and gestures for Lora to take it.
Christian: Do you know how to shoot it?
Lora: I do.
Panel Four: Jasi opens the door and him and Jade quickly aim their guns inside. Lora and Christian are behind them.
PAGE NINETEEN
Panel One: The room is empty, other than a desk on one of the side walls with a radio on it.
Panel Two: Jade enters as Jasi looks back at Christian and Lora.
Jasi: Empty.
Panel Three: Jasi holsters his gun he's about to go inside. Lora is about to follow when Christian gently grabs her arm, surprising her. Christian is looking at Jasi.
Christian: Lora and I will check the perimeter.
Jasi: Gotcha.
Panel Four: With Jasi inside with Jade, Christian lets go of Lora.
Lora: Just like that?... I didn't even pick up any signals that would suggest them doing it.
Christian: You're welcome.
Panel Five: Lora peeks her head in and is surprised to see Jasi and Jade already making out.
PAGE TWENTY
Panel One: Lora and Christian are walking the perimeter of the gated fence.
Lora: I hope we do find a settlement. It would be nice for them to have privacy without us being forced to give it to them…
Christian: You said it…
Panel Two: A zombie is trying to get through the gate to no avail. Lora and Christian notice it. Christian already begins taking his knife out.
Christian: Our first taker.
Panel Three: Christian stabs the zombie's skull through the fence.
Panel Four: Lora curiously looks at Christian after the zombie falls dead.
Lora: Since we're stuck out here… mind if I ask you a question?
Christian: Sure.
Lora: Do you know what happen to your family?
Panel Five: Christian is surprised by the question.
Christian: What brought that up?
Lora: Sorry. I just realized I told you guys about my family and I don't know anything about yours. I know it's not my business, but it felt good telling others about my family… I wanted to try and return the favor.
PAGE TWENTY-ONE
Panel One: Christian leans against the gate. He has a focused stare Lora puts her hands behind her back as she watches him intently.
Christian: They're dead…
Lora: I'm sorry.
Christian: Don't be. It wasn't your fault. You're too polite, you know?
Panel Two: Lora leans on the fence next to Christian.
Lora: My mother always said that to me. I can't help it though. I always feel the need to be nice to someone who's going through something.
Christian: I'm the same way. It was just the way I was brought up…
Lora: You'd get along with her.
Panel Three: Christian has a warm grin as he looks at Lora. Lora's cheeks start to turn red.
Christian: Well I can't wait to meet her and the rest of your family when we find them!
Lora: I-I can't wait!
Panel Four: The point of view changes to a man's figure watching Lora and Christian talk against the fence from behind a tree line near them.
