I woke up to the sound of my ringtone
I groaned and slumped my head under the pillow trying to muffle out the sound but I can still somehow hear it.
I sat up on my bed and trailed my eyes lazily to my small clock on my dresser and frowned when the red digits display 5:01 AM
This can only mean one thing
I closed my eyes for a moment readying myself as I always do every morning when she calls.
"Good Morning Sunshine!!" I hear Alex's voice boom through the line and I moved the phone away for a moment feeling my ears ringing.
It's too early for this
"What do you want Alex?" I snap gruffily lunging back on my bed.
Who the Hell is cheerful at 5 AM?
"Can't I even call my girl when I miss her?"
"Cut the crap and get to what you want." I mutter loudly trying to rub the sleep out of my eyes.
I was never a morning person
And I have a deep uncanny annoyance for those who are.
I can feel her glare through the line even though I can't even see her.
"And the Debbie Downer Award of the day yet again goes to the one and only Zoe Frasier."
I frowned at that, "I'm not a Debbie."
"Yeah sure and I'm Bradley Cooper's third wife."
"Who?"
"This is exactly what I'm talking about!"
I sighed, "Can you please go to the main reason why you called now?"
"Fine, I need you to pick me up on your way to school."
"I thought cody picked you up lately?"
"Yeah but he went on a camping trip with his family this weekend and didn't come back yet."
"Camping!? Shouldn't we be worried or something?"
"I'm not sure but he texted me that they were settled on a place where bears are barely seen so there's a very low possibility of the last incident happening again."
I rubbed my temples seeing no other choices but to give in, "Okay. Just meet me at your Driveway after an hour."
She let's out a loud squeal out of nowhere making me almost drop my phone.
"K, bye!" She hangs up not even waiting for my reply.
I sighed and propped my legs down from the bed to see that I unconsciously kicked the blankets off of me again.
I glanced back on my bed and had the immediate urge to jump back on it and bury myself under the covers but decided against it.
This conversations at an unholy time of the day are morning rituals I usually go through with Alex to officially start any day.
I don't even bother setting up an alarm to wake me up.
People in my school who are actually willing to talk to me always ask 'How is it possible that you two are friends?' You two are like polar opposites!
But you see I am a very difficult teenager to bear with and Alex seems to be the only one who's willing to still go down that road.
I squint under the blinding light from my window through the thin curtain and rubbed the stray hairs off my face before finally getting up.
I made my bed first hand not liking the thought of coming back later to see it messed up before going in the shower.
I walk out of the bathroom after a few minutes with a towel draped around me and open my drawer to pull out my under garments before inspecting my wardrobes in walk closet.
It was November in California meaning the temperature starting to decline and already feels like winter.
But I don't mind it though. The cold weathers has always been my favourite seasons and I could always wear my usual long sleeved shirts on a regular basis without having to make up excuses.
I ran my hand through my dark curls and cringe when I'm met with a knot.
The effort that people with curly hairs make to make them selves look presentable is really underrated since we literally wake up to what looks like the spawn of a sasquatch every morning.
I pulled my hair into a loose bun not being in the mood to deal with it and
glance on my reflection one last time before going down the stairs to the kitchen just to cringe at the mess of it.
Turning on the coffee maker I sighed and took a seat on one of the bar stools at front of the counter thinking that I should probably work on cleaning this up when I get back.
I could hire a maid to clean up the place when I'm out but I don't really see a point to it when I barely make a mess around here.
Well except for the times Alex shows up.
My phone suddenly chimed on the counter and I picked it up to see that I missed a call last night.
It was from my Grandfather.
I locked the screen again knowing full well that I'm gonna get an earful of him later for even having the nerve to ignore his calls.
It has already been years since I left that house and that life to live on my own but he's till still hot on my tails.
I didn't mind the lack of companions that came with moving here alone since I already grew to be customed to.
I glance on the small clock on my microwave and jump off the stool quickly.
I paced to the fridge and abruptly opened it to grab the already made mix for avocado toast I prepared yesterday before I went to sleep incase of an emergency like this.
After I was done I grab my bag with my one hand and my toast between my teeth as I locked the door behind me and headed out.
I pressed the button for the Garage to open and watched as the doors slowly opened to reveal the only Green Jeep in the huge space.
A couple of months ago this Garage was filled with different cars of varying colours, designs and even companies like some kind of a car show on display.
And I'd like to think that I cared for each and one of them like my babies.
Well not really
For one there was just too many to do that.
And second cause I've managed to get into a lot of 'incidents' with most of them.
Most of which I took on rides ended up looking unrecognisable than crisps.
I'm really not that unlucky tho, I'm just that horrible at driving.
So since I've been banned 'temporarily' to use any other car. I'm stuck with this as my last resort.
I really don't care anyways so it would be pointless if I complain.
I walk over to the Gates leaving the doors to the Garage open and hesitantly tried the passcode to the Gates I installed just yesterday.
I didn't want to risk anyone else knowing the passcode or where I lived so I had to cope alone and function it myself.
I couldn't help but let a small smile escape when the Gates instantly opened automatically.
I gave it a last glance before and got into the car to reverse out but not before checking the sensors I made worked as well so that the Gates would close on their own after I step out.
I reach Alex's driveway after 39mins and look up at her window to check if she's out yet.
She usually only closes the blinds when she's out.
I confirm the presence of the blue eyed blonde when I see her creepy black cat on the side walk and her cooing over it.
The cat's attention suddenly flicks to me and it gives me the look.
I swear the devil lives in that cat.
"You're late!" Alex exclaims out of nowhere making me jump in my seat.
"Then may be you should consider taking the bus! I heard its early." I exclaim back and pullover from the driveway starting to leave.
"Waitt!" She screams before practically jumping infront of me.
She gets on the passenger seat after I come in an abrupt stop and closes the door beside her before glaring daggers at me.
"What?" I give her an innocent smile and honk my car loudly making the black devil jump with a shriek.
Now don't get me wrong. Its not like I have a problem with cats or any other species.
It all started when that thing gave me a crimpled off hair cut when I was nine.
"New headphones?" I asked when I noticed the new red AKG headset on her head.
She nodded, "My Dad got it for me last week."
I switched the key on the car ignition again ready to leave only to hear a few cranks refusing to start.
Stupid Car
Alex raised a brow at me and I just opened the door cursing under my breath.
I opened the seal of the car and dropped the negative end down flat to see that the battery is perfectly fine.
I frowned and closed the seal back with a thud and headed to the trunk.
I grabbed the wrench from the tool box and went back to the front.
I opened the seal back again and observed everything expectantly before smacking the alternator with the wrench making Alex jump in the car.
"Start the Car." I ordered and she just glared at me before switching the key ignition.
I nodded in approval when the Car roared back to life and threw the wrench at the back before getting in.
It always works like a charm
I was half away done reversing from her driveway when I heard someone panting beside me.
I'm taken aback when I see Alex clutching on the seatbelt really hard.
"What are you doing?" I question trying to keep my eyes on the road.
"Holding on to dear life."
"Huh?"
"No offence but I think your already aware of the death trap you call driving."
I gave her a look, "None taken and stop exaggerating."
She raised a brow at me, "You make spongebob look like the next Ayrton Senna, How the hell did you even get your license?"
I grimaced at the memory.
I still didn't tell her what happened yet.
I didn't even know what a three point turn was when I first took the test last year and the guy grading me kept yelling at me to take the turn so I just started doing random turns.
The thing is I actually managed to do the turns perfectly only they were...backwards.
So we ended up being hit on the passenger side. Full forces, airbags deployed and everything.
I remember that the first thing I asked when we got hit was, 'So did I pass?'
The instructor didn't find it funny.
After the ambulance came, it turned out that he had a concussion from the shock and passed me accidentally.
"Then why did you even bother calling me to pick you up?"
"I really didn't want to miss school today." She says still clutching on the seatbelt.
"Since when did you care about your attendance in school?"
"Desperate times call to desperate measures. They're serving Milkshakes in the cafeteria today." She states in a duh tone.
We reach the school's parking lot after a few minutes and I park the car not so graciously knocking a side mirror of another car in the process.
I'll just leave an apology note.
Alex struggles with her seat belt as she opens the door and almost trips while rushing outside to kneel on the ground trying to hug it.
"I really missed you" she exclaims and I notice that she's looking like she's on the verge of crying.
"I'm so sorry that I ever left you"she cooes keeping her stare on the ground with a straight face.
"Get up Alex, you look like you spent the night on a dang rollercoaster." I say conscious of the weird looks people are giving us.
"I feel like it."
I just shake my head, heading towards the school and she quickly stands up and sprints to catch up with me.
I was halfway down walking up to the entrance when I noticed that it was already packed up by the student body.
The adamant couple that always seem to be making out on the corner side of the gate, the clique jocks tossing baseballs between eachother and with girls giggling for no reason in the admist.
And the bell rings then welcoming me to this Hell we call school.
