Chapter 92 - Chapter 92

"The great Alexander Mclane will be known as a traitor soon enough. My father and I will deal with your father next. I will kill that woman you dare to protect when I am finished. Why are you running away?" Thomas yelled as he swung his sword relentlessly at Alexander.

"Because this isn't a fair fight. You have a sword and I have a dagger," Alexander knew he could only play this smart until Artemis returned. His sword wasn't with him after his father had taken him home. He was so worried about Artemis, that he didn't think about his sword.

He meant to ask Artemis to create him a sword just like she did last time before she sent the men to the underworld but she became distracted by something across the lake.

Alexander was dodging all of Thomas's attacks so far and the frustration of not being able to strike Alexander had been getting to Thomas's head. Alexander had observed the way Thomas fought before and knew as long as he kept dodging Thomas would soon grow tired and become sloppy with his jabs.

Unfortunately for Alexander, his broken fingers put him at more of a disadvantage.

"Stay still for once!" Thomas yelled frustrated with his inability to kill Alexander when he was the one with the bigger weapon. "You turned your back on your own kind. All for what? Did she offer you power? Did you think you would turn king? After everything Darius did for you, you went ahead and killed him? You were never grateful. I wanted that attention."

"I wasn't the one to kill the king," Alexander almost stumbled back trying to avoid Thomas's sword. "I wasn't in the palace when the king was killed. Catherine was the one to kill her brother."

"Ha! Like you think I'll believe that. The princess is not smart nor strong enough to kill the king. He might've been losing his mind but Darius could put up a fight against someone with no training. You'll have to come up with a better lie than that. Admit the truth of you being a traitor. You have always been too perfect."

"I can prove that I was not the killer if you stop acting on your jealousy and put down your sword. Are you not tired of the back and forth?" Asked Alexander. Thomas hated him from the moment they met but Alexander was over their arguments. "None of us have to die today."

"Ha ha ha," Thomas stopped moving to laugh out loud. "Don't be ridiculous. It was meant for us to end up this way. If I can't kill you," he pointed his sword out at the lake where Artemis was heading back toward them. "I should kill someone close to your heart," he started to run out towards the lake.

"You can't kill a God with a regular sword. You'll die fighting against her. Dammit," Alexander cursed, chasing after Thomas who now set his sights on Artemis. Suddenly, right beside Thomas, one of the creatures he had seen Artemis with appeared beside Thomas. "Watch out!" He yelled to warn Thomas.

"What-" Thomas was unable to finish his sentence when something tackled snarled beside him. He pointed his sword in the direction he heard the noise and almost yelled when he saw a faceless creature. Almost like a shadow. "What the hell is this?"

"Here! Here!" Alexander yelled to distract the creature before it could attack Thomas. He warned Darius of the things that could be in the forest when he made plans to march in and now that Darius was gone, Catherine set everyone up to die. "Get away from there Thomas!"

"S-Shit," Thomas's hands trembled and he was certain he was not going to survive. Whatever the creature in front of him only seemed to have its attention on him. "Help me," he ran to Alexander's side to be protected.

Artemis's pet ran behind Thomas but stopped when it saw Alexander and disappeared immediately.

"Always the hero," Thomas muttered before driving his sword into Alexander's chest.

Alexander retaliated by using his tiny dagger to puncture Thomas's throat. Thomas gasped and then soon after released his sword as blood ran from his neck. Alexander gripped the sword in his chest wanting to pull it out. He anticipated Thomas would still try to attack which is why he took the chance to stab him in the neck when he came close.

"Alexander!" He heard Artemis yell in the distance.

"Alexander," Artemis said in disbelief, seeing the sword sticking out of him. "H-hold on. Just give me a second. No," she caught him when he lost his footing and fell. Artemis paid no attention to Thomas who was crying out from the pain in his neck and the sound of him choking on his blood before going limp. "Why did you try to save him? You should have let my pet kill him."

Tears fell from her eyes seeing the wound Thomas created. "I'm going to pull it out and it's going to hurt but you'll be fine. Ready?"

"Go," Alexander took a deep breath preparing for the pain to come. Luckily, Thomas missed his heart but his vision getting blurry wasn't a good sign.

Artemis pulled it out in one go and threw the sword to the side. She panicked seeing the large wound in his chest. "Couldn't you have yelled for me?"

"Whatever you were doing by the tree looked important. Shit," he cursed when the pain increased now that the sword was out.

"You should have let my pet kill you. Look where being the hero has gotten you. I don't have the ability to heal you. We have to get you to a doctor quickly. Get up," she tried helping him sit up.

"Get away from here while you can-"

"Stop thinking about others and for once in your life think about yourself!" She yelled, trying to let him see the situation he was in. He needed to only worry about himself. "Why on earth would you return when I sent you with your father, you idiot!"

"Artemis," Chaos whispered. "The princess is dead. We can leave now right?"

"I can't just leave him here. He will die. The only person who gives him a second life is…" Artemis trailed off realizing where she needed to take him. "Take the others and leave Chaos. I have to save him."

"Wait-" Chaos tried to stop her but Artemis disappeared into thin air with Alexander. "Great," he sighed, annoyed with Alexander even more. "Let's see what happens next."
