"All along, you did have a heart," Artemis looked amazed.
Chaos was created from her hatred towards humans which was why he hated them so much and, in the end, toyed with them. She never expected he could show such a side of caring for someone even if it was towards her. All of her creations, except Aurora, were like devious children all looking to drive her crazy.
Artemis started to dig alongside Chaos and the others but the faint sound of someone yelling was heard. Artemis was the first to stand up trying to pinpoint where the noise was coming from. "Find out what that is," she ordered one of the pets. "The rest of you, keep digging."
"It has to be the humans," Chaos stood up beside Artemis. "Do you want me to get the werewolves for them to aid you in this battle?"
"No," Artemis shook her head. She didn't want them to get involved in her problems. "We'll handle this ourselves. What is it?" She asked the pet who went to check.
"Humans," it hissed.
Artemis looked back at the tree where they had already dug out a large portion of dirt under the tree then back to where the humans were on the outside waiting for her. "Chaos, it's a waste to keep you out here. I'm tired of that princess."
Chaos grinned knowing the true meaning behind her words. What she really meant was for him to get rid of the princess just like he did with the king. "I will ease your mind of her. All of you better protect her with your lives," he told his siblings before disappearing.
"I'll be back," Artemis left the ancient tree to help aid in defending her home. Human jealousy never ceased to amaze her each time. Why was it so hard for the princess to accept Alexander did not want her and to accept she desired to have her brother killed?
Instead of leaving Catherine be, Artemis had to girl her, or the lovesick would keep interfering with her life and more importantly, Alexander's life. At first, the crush was funny but now the princess appeared deranged in Artemis's eyes.
She presented Catherine with the opportunity to become queen but she had to be greedy and wanted Alexander too. Artemis felt a good emotion knowing that Alexander had come to like her in the short period they got to know each other. He knew the princess from the time she was a little baby and yet, nothing happened between the two.
Artemis walked across the lake water highly annoyed with the princess who had a lot but still wanted more. Like a firefly in the sky, an orange ball in the sky caught Artemis's eye and with instinct, she sent a wave of water high in the sky to catch what had been thrown into the forest.
"She dares to throw fire in my home!" Artemis yelled as the once lit rock was cooled off by the water and sank deep into the lake.
It didn't take long for more flaming rocks to be catapulted into the forest one after the other. Smoke began to arise from the outside of the forest indicating the princess's plan was to set the forest on fire with Artemis in it.
Angered by this, a dark aura formed around Artemis before spreading over the water, the grass, and slowly, the trees. Unnoticed by Artemis because of her anger, the ends of her hair started to turn white, and her eyes showed specs of red.
"Rise my children," Artemis spread out her arms welcoming human-shaped shadow figures rising from the darkness. She created more of her pets or children as she had previously referred to them as. This would be her army against the humans.
Instead of creating a few like she did the first, Artemis created thousands of them. Each pet inherited a piece of her personality and emotions. Since she had been angered by the forest being destroyed, the pets carried that same anger.
"Protect your home," she ordered them as she stepped off the water onto the land.
Like a wave of darkness, the pets started running towards the outside of the forest to find the humans who were setting the forest on fire.
'This will make you their enemy again,' Artemis reminded herself. History was repeating itself as she was fighting against a royal all because of a human man. Alexander was the only reason Catherine was willing to burn down the forest.
Unlike in her past, this time, the human man had not betrayed her but promised to save her. A man like Alexander was not suited to be with a spoiled brat like Catherine. Catherine's heart did not share the same values as Alexander's heart. Artemis wanted to rip the princess's heart out so that Alexander could be left alone.
"Artemis!"
For a moment, Artemis thought her ears were playing tricks on her when she heard Alexander's voice. She sent him away so he wouldn't witness her like this and be harmed in the battle. There was no way his father would have allowed him to escape to come here.
"Artemis, do not go out there!"
The second time made her realize she was actually hearing Alexander. She finally spotted Alexander to her right running to stop her.
"Alexander? What-How on-Why are you here? How did you get in here without the bracelet? Why did your father let you leave? You are not supposed to be here," she stomped over to Alexander to smack him in the arm. "Are you seriously crazy?"
"I must be," he replied, grabbing her arms to hold her in place while he leaned down to kiss her, catching Artemis off-guard.
