"All I did was send you for the sword and it ended up with you breaking your future wife's heart. Now there will be an army at my doorstep in the morning. Don't forget I saved this little human who has peed himself by the way. Perfect," Artemis grumbled looking down at the two men on the ground.
Alexander glared at Artemis as he sat up from the ground. "Isn't there a way for you to teleport me without making me land on the ground? And all this time you could have sent me to the king's room and then brought me back without me being seen by anyone?"
Alexander didn't see the point of having him enter the palace from the gates and then walk all the way up to the king's bedroom when teleporting him into the king's bedroom was much easier.
Artemis shrugged her shoulders and said, "I wanted to see some entertainment at first but then it got boring with the princess being desperate for your hand in marriage. Though she was right that you could have become king to help the kingdom. Your family has a lot of influence but as always, you don't want power."
"Can someone enlighten me on what the heck is going on? You are a Goddess?" Leon pointed to Artemis in disbelief. He had never faced one before and was surprised to learn that Gods were still roaming around in the kingdom. He was also surprised by Alexander carrying on a casual conversation with the woman.
"I believe that was obvious by what I did just now. Shouldn't you be thanking me for saving your life? I didn't have to bring you along with us. Humans are so rude," she said, examining the human Alexander asked her to save.
This wasn't some sort of shelter for his human buddies to join one by one. She should punish Alexander for bringing this man here.
"Thank you for saving my life but I like to remind the both of you that I got dragged into this because I am Alexander's friend," Leon said getting up off the ground. He was scared of what Artemis could do to him but tried his best not to show it.
Alexander appeared to trust this woman so Leon wanted to hear a reasonable explanation for why he did. It was quite odd for someone like Alexander and someone like this woman to be in the same place as each other but not fighting.
"Your little friend has gone silent Alexander. Is he plotting to kill me? Just know that I will kill you and everyone you love if you try to do anything funny," she warned Leon.
This man being a friend of Alexander meant nothing to her at the end of the day. He was still a human who could try to harm her.
"Gods can't hurt humans," said Leon but it only made Artemis laugh in return.
Artemis wiped away a tear from her eye after having a good laugh. "The more you humans say the more ridiculous it gets and I can't stop myself from laughing. I'll take that off your hands, Alexander," she held out her hand for the sword she sent him for.
Artemis had never once laid eyes on the fallen sword but the power emitting from it let her know this was it. Such an object was able to take out many of her peers. What a joke.
"Before I give you this, you need to promise that you won't hurt any humans with me," Alexander withheld the sword waiting on Artemis to make the deal first. The sword was too dangerous to be in the hands of a human but Artemis wasn't any better. He pictured her going around killing anyone she disliked.
Artemis placed a hand on her chest pretending to be hurt by his words. "After all the time we have spent together in this forest, don't you trust me?"
Alexander shook his head not falling for her tricks. "Promise me," he repeated.
Artemis sighed knowing this was a losing battle even though she could easily take the sword from him. However, she rather just played along with what he requested. "Fine, I promise not to hurt any humans with it. I don't know why you think that means something when I can just kill people with my own abilities but whatever helps you to sleep at night," she snatched the sword out of his hand.
"May I know why you and a Goddess are working together, Alexander? And you just handed her the most powerful thing humans had against Gods. What are you up to?" Leon asked while Artemis was distracted by the sword. In his opinion, he and Alexander should have hidden the sword away from everyone and then taken the location to their graves.
If Alexander were to use the sword right now this woman could be dead. All the tales told said Gods were evil so it made no sense for them to just give her the sword. He had no idea what Alexander was thinking.
"Leon, whatever is on your mind, do not allow it to make you do stupid things. Artemis is not like what you are thinking. She's not fond of many humans but I trust that she will keep her promise and not hurt anyone. Give it some time and you will see the kind of person she is."
