Chereads / When The Goddess Fell In Love / Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

"I'm pretty sure I never told you to knock him out. Now I have been waiting a while for him to wake up and he has a bruise on his face. No, I am not worried about the bruise because I thought he was handsome," Artemis leaned against a log watching an unconscious Alexander while she spoke to the tree. "I need to use him and a bruise on someone with his skills looks suspicious. We'll have to create a story about him being attacked by bandits. But what about the bodies of the bandits to show as proof?" She rubbed her temple.

She gave her pets one job to take him to the forest but one of them thought it would be funny to knock him out. At first, Artemis didn't mind her pets having their own personalities but now it was like she was taking care of children. Two of them already changed from what she initially created and looked like humans. Their names were Aurora and Chaos.

"I need to find a way to punish you when you do something wrong. Which one of you knocked him out?" Artemis asked the shadows lingering behind her but none of them wanted to admit who did it. "Then I will punish all of you. The excitement of me kidnapping him has died down thanks to all of you. I bet you're enjoying this," she told the ancient tree.

Artemis sighed, having nothing else to do but wait for the man to wake up. At least they hadn't accidentally killed him. "I can wait a few more hours. I have all the time in the world."

A few moments later, Artemis splashed water in his face to help him wake up because she didn't have the patience to wait anymore. She was satisfied when he woke up coughing with a surprised look from the coldness of the water. He was already awake but she couldn't resist pouring more water on him for making her wait so long.

Alexander closed his mouth before the second set of water was poured on him to avoid having some going in his mouth. "Was that really necessary? Why did you knock me out?" he asked immediately, feeling the wound created from the impact of his head being hit.

"I wasn't the one who knocked you. I still can't figure out why they knocked you out when you were silent. Why were you silent when you were being dragged by something you couldn't see? Are you stupid? Weren't you taught to scream when someone is kidnapping you?"

"I love the advice my kidnapper is giving me. Thank you so much," he sarcastically replied looking up at Artemis from the ground. Alexander still couldn't fathom the idea that this woman was a Goddess. For some reason, this wasn't what he expected a Goddess to look like. "What do you want from me?"

"You know, this is my first time kidnapping someone but shouldn't you be a little frantic? Begging for your life or something? Is it because you are not scared of me?" Artemis was intrigued by his lack of fear. This didn't feel normal. "Do you wish to die?"

"You said you were going to hurt a hair on my head and if you were lying, I would be dead by now. I've been in many battles and seen the eyes of men and women who wished to kill me. You don't have that look, Artemis," he responded. Alexander started to get a good look around the forest no one had ever been in. Surprisingly, it appeared peaceful. The only odd thing was a tree glowing in the distance. 'Why does she need a glowing tree?' he wondered.

Artemis broke a branch off the log she was previously leaning up against and poked Alexander with it to avoid touching him. "Stop looking around my home. Don't think I won't hurt you. I might not look it but I'm the last person you would want to run into."

"Gods can't harm humans, remember?" He told her once more. This rule was what made it easy for the kings to kill Gods. This rule was partially the reason he was still alive other than the fact she needed him for something.

Artemis snorted, hearing him say nonsense again. "Sure. Whatever you say. For future reference, I am not the type to follow the rules so get it out of your head that I can't kill you. At any point in time, I find you useless, I will kill you. I know how to bend the rules to kill you. I'm being nice right now but you have no idea how much I'm fuming on the inside looking at the sight of you."

If he brought up Gods not being able to kill humans she'll prove how wrong that statement was by killing him.

"I take it the rules for Gods have changed over the years? At some point, all of you would want to fight back against being killed."

"No, that same old rule still exists but it doesn't apply to me. Time for me to ask you some questions. Do you know where the king keeps the fallen sword? Are you really going to play the silent game?" She asked when he refused to answer her. "Fine," she got down to his level where he was unable to move because he was tied up the entire time. "A gift from me to you," Artemis said, placing the bracelet she got from the sirens on his hand.

It made a loud clicking noise as it clicked around his hand and then disappeared for him but she could still see it. Now that he was wearing the bracelet, Artemis made the rope around him magically disappear.

Alexander sat up staring at his hand because he could still feel something tight around it. "What was that?"

"I like to think of it as a leash to keep my new pet in check."
