Chapter 78 - Holy Clash

With the Azure empire's dreadful loss, things had quietened, but everyone was waiting for the next strike which of course is expected to be from the Forgan Empire. It's natural after they released their number one strongest to the battlefield it could only mean that they are ready for a full out war. The Eastern continent was in a silent disaster due to this two factor about to collide plus news got out that the Culin Empire will be signing an alliance with the Forgan empire. Things couldn't get worse.

With Lewis still, on his pilgrimage journey, the Euphoria kingdom calmly waited for its freedom from the Azure empire alliance.

Adventurers guild were getting more active and the humans that came into their world more than a year ago were now being accepted even though the discrimination still existed somewhere mostly amongst those that have a very distinctive skin-colour. The players; new humans were now playing so much active role. The dwellers were beginning to see the difference in strength and were succumbing to the strongest. Players were beginning to have privileges, get the noble title but of course, no player was crowned king.

Amongst those that were getting recognised stood apart on his own: Arthur, the messenger of the Fierandials. Fierand is a popular religion, that mainly worships angels instead of gods. They believe angels are an independent entity that even has the power to judge gods, they even have an inscribed stone doctrine that they received from angels, they had commandment and they believed that angels were the purest form of creation and the closest creation the supreme God whom the world is engrafted in.

Arthur; who has decided to betray humanity and is in the process of becoming a full-fledged angel was like the god of the Fierand church, even though they had a pope. He submitted to the authority of Arthur who was a descent of Orifiel.

Arthur cleaned his long, giant sabre, over and over again. The sabre had a golden grip, a symbol of prominence and pride. Arthur since coming to this new earth had found less interest in a lot of things. For the first few months, he rambled on how he needs to go back to his life like a madman but no one cared, then he directed his anger towards the gods which is why he was offered to become an angel, but he never for once thought he was missing something. Relying on the system too much was a mistake every player made which was gonna come back to haunt them, even Rein. But even though it was all with the system's help Arthur was too strong, he was closing in on breaking through level 300 and he was preparing for himself a celestial body though it was gonna take too long he didn't mind.

"Dear Messenger of Orifiel"

A middle-aged man bowed before him

Arthur answered as he continued cleaning his sabre.

"It seems the Olinus temple has decided to join the conflict of the world, I beg thee, shew unto them heavenly wrath and what it means to go against the heavens."

Arthur was less concerned but continued what he was doing. The Fierand temple was getting used to using his strength to solve their private dispute. The existence of a holy being amidst the church had drastically increased the temple's reputation and many are coming under the light of the angels but Arthur didn't like the fact that they were relying too much on him. He didn't wanna feel uncomfortable. Now they wanted him to go destroy a prestigious church under the pretext of heavenly punishment.

Like the Fierand temple that believed in angels, the Olinus temple was a congregation that believes in working your way to secure your place in heaven, a place that myths say the supreme God has ascended to and is now watching everyone from the place. They were the second most prestigious Religion and The Fierandials were the third. The first of course were those that Worship Zeus as the supreme god. But these congregations were limited to the eastern continent, other continent had their beliefs and tradition.

At last, he stood up and put his sabre in his inventory, the middle-aged man watches as the big sabre disappeared into the air.

He couldn't help but be left in awe of the mighty messenger.

Arthur stopped,

"Pope. . ."

"Gaius, sire. it's Gaius"

"Who do you think I am?"

"The messenger of the angels, the purest human to ever exist"

"Am I your lackey?"

"Never!! great messenger, I would never stain you with my filthiness"

"You dare command me to kill people on your behalf."

Arthur tilted his head backwards, his distorted angry expression made the pope fell to his butt.

"ne-never! never!! lord!!! to disrespect the great orifiel. Forgive my insolence"

He bowed his head.

"I just meant th- that a di- di- divine punishment."

"Why don't you give me an example of this divine punishment you mean"

"heavenly arrows. . . like the ones you used against the tribe of Dundalk."

"Listen to me, my annihilation of the Dundalk tribe was strictly by order from Orifiel if you ever bring to my table. it'll be you that'll be getting the heavenly arrows."

'Seriously be it earth or a fantasy world, every pope is rotten'

The pope raised his head and looked at Arthur's back irritable as he departed from the garden they were in.

'Damn messenger, acting all high and mighty, he is still rotten like every other human. . .its just some little display of grace and he's all in his head'

Just right then in the middle of the garden, an enormous brilliant light fell from on high. The snow-white wings spread out like wildfire, the white garment and silver armour was exceptionally glamorous and extravagant. The pope fell on his face. For the first time in a hundred years, an angel descended and it was because of one particular being.

"ɢᴇᴛ ᴍᴇ Aʀᴛʜᴜʀ ʀɪɢʜᴛ ɴᴏᴡ."

The pope ran out shouting,

"great messenger! great messenger!! great messenger!!!"

Arthur who had spread out his silver short wings and was ready to take off felt the holy presence.

'how impatient, I was gonna come meet him anyway'

The Pope reached him, panting and out of breathing he kept pointing towards the direction he was running from, he seems like he had a lot to say but was out of breathe.

"a- a- a-. . . ."

...was the only thing he could say.

"Wʜᴀᴛ ᴀʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘᴜʟʟɪɴɢ Aʀᴛʜ?"

"I will do as I seem fit, you are not my god, don't boss me around"

"Dᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ᴛʜɪɴᴋ Oʀɪғɪᴇʟ ᴡɪʟʟ ғᴀᴠᴏᴜʀ ʏᴏᴜ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴛʜᴀɴ ʜᴇ ғᴀᴠᴏᴜʀs ᴍᴇ ʜɪs.ʙʀᴏᴛʜᴇʀ"

"I've heard his voice, I've seen visions, I've heard his messages. You all especially you Ansiel"

"Wʜᴀᴛ ᴀᴜᴅᴀᴄɪᴛʏ ᴛᴏ ᴘᴏɪɴᴛ ᴛʜᴏsᴇ ғɪʟᴛʜʏ ғɪɴɢᴇʀs ᴛᴏ ᴍᴇ ᴊᴜsᴛ ʙᴇᴄᴀᴜsᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ʀᴇᴄᴇɪᴠᴇᴅ Oʀɪғɪᴇʟ's ɢʀᴀᴄᴇ. "You can ramble on for all I care, I would not take innocent lives. And your days are numbered, your injustice and unholy ways would soon be brought to the archangels."

Ansiel was silent but his facial expression said it all, his anger had reached its limit and was about to explode. Two more lights immediately descended from above and simultaneously spoke.

"Aɴsɪᴇʟ ɴᴏ!!"

The large blast of light was quickly contained by a shield activated by the presence of Diniel.

They lifted by a descending large beam of light.

Arthur Spread out his transparent wings and flew away.

The pope who watched till the end fell to his knee, he lifted his face in tears as though he has found new salvation.
