The school bell rang, indicating school ended for the day. The students headed to the school gate and went home when their cars arrived. As for my class, we went our own ways in groups when we reached the shopping mall.
I went to a swimwear shop with Mia and Natasha to pick out a swimming suit. There were so many choices and we didn't know what to pick.
"Who would wear this flashy thing?" Mia picked one from the rack. It didn't look so flashy from afar but when I got a closer look, it looked more like a net than a piece of cloth. She took it and placed it over Natasha, "So sexy."
"That's not even clothing!" Natasha was flustered when Mia smirked.
"I'm just kidding, come on!"
Sigh. There she goes again, her childish and playful side.
I looked around the shop to see if there was anything suitable for me. Most of them were bikinis so I decided to choose those with frills. I wouldn't be exposed much with those frills covering.
"Oh? I never knew you liked frills, Amanda." Mia came to me after she was done looking around. She seemed to have trouble choosing that's why she came to see what I picked first.
I brought the one in my hand to the changing room to try it on and to my surprise, it fitted perfectly well on me. The size was just nice and the frills were so suitable. I've never worn a bikini before so I took the one that looked the easiest to wear.
I tried on a few others and bought the one I liked the most. Mia was suffering from a dilemma so I went to help her out after I was done with the payment of my swimsuit.
"Hmm, what about this?" Those laces really matched her wavy hair. I passed it to her and she went to try it on in the changing room.
While waiting, I looked for Natasha since I haven't seen her and was surprised when I found her in the children section.
Does she prefer one-piece? But those are younger girls' sizes, though...
I walked towards the back that was putting much thought into choosing a single swimming suit. She didn't seem to notice my presence so I called out to her. She startled and turned her head to me.
"M-miss Asia?"
"Have you chosen one yet?"
"Ah, no. This is not for me," a slight smile formed on her face. "I thought of getting one for my sister. She has always loved the pool so I wanted to bring her to the beach someday when she gets better."
Her smile always looked cheerful on the outside but what about the inside? I always wondered if there was some sort of sadness she wanted to hide.
"You must love her so much that you want to buy her such a beautiful swimsuit."
She blushed a little when I said that.
"Amanda!" Mia suddenly called me from behind, "Jeez, I panicked when you weren't outside of the changing room."
She saw Natasha with me and seemed to have understood the situation when she saw the swimsuit in her hands. Mia has always been kind enough to help out others and I knew this wouldn't be an exception.
Mia grabbed my hand and went to the adults' section, leaving Natasha behind.
"Let's choose one for her, Amanda."
I did not resist because I had no objections in her suggestion. After all, we're friends who help each other out. Not to mention, she really helped all of us solve those difficult Mathematical problems.
We had a hard time choosing because she looked good in everything. I looked around and saw a pink-colored one that looked nice.
Does she like pink?
"Looks nice, pink." Mia appeared out of nowhere and took the one I was holding to Natasha. She was delighted we chose pink. We couldn't believe our ears when she said she loved pink.
Mia and I accompanied Natasha to the changing room and waited for her outside.
"I never knew she liked pink," Mia said it with a serious face. "I mean, the net one earlier was pink and she got so flustered when I put it on her."
"That's because it's not covered!"
Come to think of it, her belongings were pink-colored too. It was rare to see for our generation and since she had an outstanding personality, I didn't care much about it.
In our point of view, surrounding ourselves with pink means we want to get a favor from someone or we're just too girly. If that was the case for her, does it mean she did that on purpose to gain Eric's attention?
I was so lost in thought that I didn't realize Natasha had already paid her items.
We went to a nearby coffee shop to wait for the others.
"Let's talk about something," Mia's can never keep her mouth shut.
"Like what?"
"You know, our usual morning gossip except that it's afternoon now."
We chatted for a while until the other girls arrived. We decided to see what took the boys so long when usually the girls would be the ones taking their time. We texted the boys and met up with them at where they were.
Honestly, I thought it would be some complicated shop where they couldn't decide what to choose but turns out it was just a normal swimwear store.
What's so difficult in choosing a swimming trunk?
"We wanted to match you girls' timing but ended up taking longer than expected."
The girls had no choice but to wait at the bench outside of the store.
"Jeez, did we switch roles or what?" Mia was annoyed at how we weren't able to head home just yet. Her stomach has been grumbling for a while but she refused to eat because there's a big meal waiting for her at home and she didn't want to fill up her stomach.
But really, we took our time choosing what's best for us and not even one of the boys has decided on one.
It didn't take long until the boys were done. They must have felt a chill behind their backs when we glared at them.
"Good, then shall we head back?"
I contacted Alice when we arrived at school and so did everyone else. I was tired from the long trip so I threw myself into bed immediately after dinner.
Sigh. And there's school again tomorrow.
